I have 2 American friends living in Oxford, England & despite both of them having flat-American accents, their son speaks in what I imagine is the classic accent of the area of Oxford (Oxfordshire?) The parents are no match for the tellie, his friends, his teachers, & other strangers in the area.

I have a sister that lives with me in Scotland but has the strongest English accent (specifically Manchester) but has only lived their for the first 8 weeks of her life. My parents are from Manchester but my accent is rough Scottish.

As far as being a well known famous actress of about the right age to play the role and is British, I can't think of anyone else appropriate for the role. Maybe there is some mostly unknown actress on Broadway but they have no box office clout.

When kids are really young, apparently they don't really make the connection. Sid Caesar told the story about his son (who was two or three at the time) asking him what his name was, and he said "Sidney, but everybody calls me Sid". The boy then asked what his last name was and he said "Caesar". He said his son thought for a moment, then got wide-eyed and said "You're _Sid_ _Caesar_ ?" He'd heard the name, and probably watched the show, but never made the connection.

Yes Julie Andrews played her first but the original Mary Poppins character was first announced and acted in 1949 by an Actress called Mary Wickes in a tv show called “studio one American TV series”. It was season 2 episode 15 which ran in 1949 15 years BEFORE Julie Andrews. Try harder next time and know your history!!! Btw Emily Blunt was by far the perfect cast for this role. Smh stupid people just kill me!!

She’s still very young at 39. If she continues to live in America unfortunately she will lose most of it. It just happens quite honestly. I moved to the south in my 20’s from Indiana and then years later came back for a visit. Everyone up north told me my voice had changed and I had some southern draw. It just happens unfortunately and it sucks because she has the sexiest voice ever tbh.
