THE distraught father of freed hostage Emily Hand has told how she was forced to run in her Disney pyjamas through gunfights in besieged Gaza.
The traumatised nine-year-old now speaks in whispers after being ordered to stay silent by evil gun-toting thugs for 50 days and nights.
The sparkle in the Beyonce fan’s blue eyes has also dimmed after she lost more than half a stone during her terrifying ordeal.
But her tearful dad Tom, 63, yesterday pledged to dedicate the rest of his life to his brave little girl’s recovery - as she posed for a heartbreaking snap peeking from behind a giant teddy.
Tom told The Sun in his first interview since she walked free: “I’ll do whatever it takes to get Emily back to where she was. Her chubby cheeks may have gone but she’s smiling again now she’s safe.

Imagine the depth of her trauma. Her biological mother died of cancer when she was 2, then the brutal catastrophe of 7 October and her terrifying ordeal of being kidnapped. Her close friend’s mother being there for her throughout their captivity only to be taken away two days before her release, then to eventually come home to learn that her loving step-mother was murdered and that their oasis-like home and community have been ravaged. Pray for their complete healing from all this trauma and for them to rebuild their lives and community. May they rise in strength from the ashes.

Just one thing i would add that this little girl has the most amazing and loving father and he loves his little daughter more than anything in the whole world. And however much she went through if she remains cognizant of that, and hangs onto it with all her might, she got all the reason to be a rich and happy child who will grow flourish into a happy, fulfilled and succesful adult and human being. I lost my mum suddenly at the age of 9... (many decades ago now.)... Much later trained in healing & a form of counselling... How I would love to meet Tom & Emily, & speak to them about how G-d has helped me on this healing journey... I am also in a club for adult survivors of mother-loss.... My grandson was abused, physically, emotionally and mentally by his father and the woman he was with. When we rescued him, He refused to be called by his name and insisted everyone call him Paxton. To be told your daughter was killed would have been unimaginable but to be told that she was in fact alive would have been a traumatic thing also because you'd be worried about her condition and what she's had to endure. Poor little Emily, I'm thrilled you are now with your daddy again. We've all been praying for your safety and that of the other hostages. You have been through so much trauma, too much for any child. lowly but surely you will find your new normal and start to feel like you again. You are home, you are safe and you are loved.
