"Push the value!!!" is basically her catchphrase and it's gotten to the point where if she asks the class to critique any piece of artwork we all very monotonously chant "push the value". It's even written on her school ID badge haha!

I used to draw in ballpoint pen all the time. No pencil allowed in my sketchbook. Eventually I had to stop because I felt more hindered than anything. I learned a lot from it, but for a while I felt unmotivated becauseof it Now I do both pen and pencil with my watercolor and my more recent books have been so damn fun bevause I finally stopped censoring myself in my own book

Pen is awesome. Don’t stop! I never thought I’d use pen but I got cataracts because of medication. Couldn’t see very well for so. I started using pen on white paper because I could see it, unlike pencil. It was a great thing! I got surgery and can see well but still love the pen. Learning is everything. Perfection is an end.

So I am going through some seriously emotional/mentally draining shit with my son right now , we have just started a very long journey surrounding his health and well being. I was talking to my mom about how it fucking sucks but I am doing much better then my husband. She told me , you aren’t doing any better, as mothers we hold our emotions in and just keep it going for the sake of our children and when I break down it will be locked in the bathroom so my children won’t see. Not saying you are going through anything with your son , but I just really connected with the holding emotions in and the little baby boy, my son is 2 1/2. Gosh Emily, you just kicked me right in the heart! 💙

I totally get that pet peeve of when people say "oh you must have a lot of time." I remember once that I had a joke with students over the fluffy ball keychains. Which ment that for a weekend I created a paper mashe cage with a hinged door to put one in. When I showed my friends what I had done. That's what they said. It makes you feel bad because really what they are saying is that what I had made had no value. And yet it was an outlet of my creativity and made my students laugh and added to the stories we were creating together.

Your creating goals for me usually I spend four years to fill a sketchbook, but then again I always go for for the fat sketchbooks. But I plan on this new sketchbook I got since I finally filled up a sketchbook entirely and try to fill this new one within a year. Hey I just recently found your channel, I’m having a ton of art block so I decided to try to find some ideas on yt. I watched your art block video, and it helped a lot. I subscribed though after seeing your video on being harassed. I in childhood had been though something like that. Not as intense but it was hard for an 11 year old.
