100% agree my ex was addicted to coke and would go on a bender when I least expected him to! Let me mention he was very physically abusive yet on coke and alcohol he never once laid hands on me. Even when I would be in his face yelling at him calling him a “drug addict” and other harsh names. He was too lost in his own world being paranoid about the gov watching him. He would only lay hands on me when he was sober or going through withdraws.

Yeah it’s almost like she doesn’t know anything about the cicle of addiction or domestic V. My dad is an alcoholic and nothing of what she’s saying feels familiar. Specially the part where she cries and does ANYTHING to stop him from using. Loved ones of addicts understand fairly quick that the thing has nothing to do with them, when it’s on it’s on and there’s no power on earth that will stop them if they chose to go on a binge. They’ll lie, they’ll sneak, they are never going to announce themselves specially if your reaction towards it is so extreme. There’s no way in hell you’ll notice until it’s too late and there’s no negotiating, what are the crazy texts about? Even for someone who might be offering help those are too much.

So let me get this straight: James Franco a man who has been accused of sexual misconduct more than once is the man that she (an alleged victim of sexual abuse and assault) was comfortable with having in her home? She was comfortable being alone with someone who has been accused of misconduct over and over again but she has PTSD from her traumas? I'm not buying it like at all.

I think that’s a great point, something I am surprised more people have not brought up. Even as a Midwesterner I know some about James Franco sexual misconduct allegations. If those allegations are true, it is hard to imagine a sexual abuse survivor would feel safe around such a person.

@@Lina_unchained Ok here is what I think of the whole Franco affair, based solely on the fact that she knew Johnny was finally leaving her and she wanted/needed(?) a replacement (due to the nature of the 136 cluster B etc mental illness she has) that was also very famous. He was "teaching"/mentoring his own acting workshop school thing, the women James sexually abused/manipulated into trysts for supposedly helping them inthe industry in the future, were mostly from there, and there is no evidence AH knew any of those women or any of the stories of his previous female coworkers on films, which came out in the news a few years later. Amber and James were not "in each other's inner circle", they made a movie and hung out a few times alone, certainly at least once in Johnny's penthouse complex. I don't think we can assume she knew anything other than that she wanted another super famous boyfriend to replace the one she just lost. All she cared about was her own public image, and ex-wife of Johnny Depp was not how she wanted to be seen. Like the baby she had a surrogate have for her, which I believe was all for public sympathy pretrial. I won't buy her upcoming book, but I cannot wait to read about what crap she's going to make up next. I hope she gets sued again.

Please forgive this overlong comment. I am a retired psychologist and widow of a California Superior Court Judge. QUESTION: Has anyone asked AH if her injuries are self inflicted? ~~ For many years I had to write reports for the court regarding 72 hour psych evaluations. Many times family members filmed loved ones hitting themselves to create bruising. Black eyes are not easy to achieve but the mottled red marks on AH look like the result of repeated slaps. Try this yourself: place your hand on your cheekbone with fingertips above your eyebrow. You will find the same imprint pattern. Her lip looks like a spoon left in the freezer and placed on her lower lip. It is sad to realize how often this happens. Regarding the clumps of hair: that is not the pattern when hair is ripped out by an attacker. Her bald spots look like taking a tress of hair and twisted until it comes out. Hair falls down in piles, not stretched out like these photos show. It all looks staged. Why weren't forensic crime scene experts used to examine these photos? Forensic experts would catch all of this. AH is showing fatigue from keeping herself in check for prolonged periods of time.

It is vitally important for Camille to describe AH's allegations of sexual assault indelicately, bluntly, without mincing words and without softening her language because it is serves to demonstrate the actual weight of those allegations and the impact they have on the accused (JD), on the reputation of the accused, and on the public perception of the accused. Softening her language or skirting around the subject could give the impression that AH's allegations aren't especially damaging or that there is some question as to the brutality embedded in the subtext of what AH is alleging. There is a clear reason why hearing it in that way makes people uncomfortable. It should. Because what she is alleging is extremely serious and should not be taken lightly.

Agreed! And at one point Camille stated as much, saying “Bcuz these are very serious accusations…” as she was getting into specifics. Another thing I appreciate, although at times it was annoying, was the judge being so patient with AH’s legal team and all the hearsay/objections. They certainly cannot later say the judge was biased or unfair in any way. It lends to the impact of the verdict which I can now easily see going in JD’s favor, even if it was a longer shot in the beginning d/t the nature of defamation cases and the burden required.

However the issue comes when she's apparently quoting what somebody else says, and does it with that alleged direct quote, as its how she personally speaks, it's extremely unlikely every other person in her life has that obnoxious habit to their speech, it's obviously just her trying to fill time and make it look as though it's a genuine retelling of what somebody has said, cringe.

So many of us come back over and over to watch/listen to this. If the outcome had been different,I don't know if we would. Sometimes it has a calming effect, sometimes it's just something to fill silence. But,I think a mutual aspect of rewatching,is the disbelief and attempting to understand how a seemingly intelligent woman could claim she was beaten so badly that she had 2 black eyes,a broken nose, etc, then show a photo with a tiny red spot on her face, and expect other people to believe it. That's like holding up a photo of a baby bunny and expecting people to believe it's a Clydesdale that's 16 hands high and weighs 1300 pounds. Also, the idea of how easily she damaged him and how she could have completely ruined another human being if she had only toned down the lies a little. They main argument I see is that Amber is an "imperfect victim", what I THINK they mean by that is Amber doesn't act scared of Johnny, she never even cried, which would be fine if it didn't came across that she was trying to cry but was failing at it, you don't need to cry for people to believe you, you only need to tell the truth. And I hear this imperfect victim argument and I'm like, ok in court is one thing but in most of the recordings we heard she also wasn't scared of him, the only one that I remember thinking she might actually be scared was the one where JD was playing with knives and she was telling him to stop, and I also remember camille crossing her about a compromising picture of JD (I think he was sleeping?) that Amber sent to someone, Camille asked something like "weren't you scared of sending that picture of mr. Depp to another person?" and Amber responds with "Why would I?", if she really was afraid of him cause he was super controlling like she said wouldn't she think he might go through her phone and see she sent that embarassing picture of him to another person? Wouldn't she fear retaliation from him? The other part of the imperfect victim argument that I've seen is that Amber is imperfect because she lacks evidence that the abuse actually happened but that doesn't mean it didn't happened, and that we can't turn this into a 'pics or it didn't happen' situation. I would be more willing to listen to that argument if Amber and Elaine didn't said they had a MOUNTAIN of evidence of the abuse and if pictures they brought to court weren't shown to be phony (like the identical wine stained floor ones who are supposed to be from different days), if Amber really had time to gather a mountain of evidence why didn't we see a single medical record or decisive testimony of the injuries she suffered because of the bottle incident? If it really happened like she said she wouldn't be able to cover that up. Why bring shady evidence like that to a court of law? If in fact she had been gathering it for years now? I don't believe anything Amber says, I can't, she really turned into the Girl who cried Wolf for me, I was willing to believe JD got violent with her when he got drunk because of Ellen Barkin's testimony but Amber has been caught lying so many times I can't in good conscience believe anything she says anymore even if it's plausible like JD beating her up while drunk.

@@Prototype-357imperfect victim, she's a small woman, his vulgar texts prove he's an abuser,he's an addict and they abused each other are the reasons I usually read/ hear from Amber supporters. I think the main reaon, really,is they are narrow minded and don't believe a man can be a victim. I read a Pro Amber redditt thread, most of them only watched Depps cross and Ambers testimony. The few that did watch Ambers cross claimed she made a fool of Camille and that Camille is a horrible lawyer. It really blew my mind. I think a lot of them are the type to believe everything they see on social media, too, because there was several that said all his exes came forward with claims of abuse, and ofc they supposedly saw those claims on social media. And of course, even though it's still an active thread, anything pro Depp is blocked. I typed a comment and as soon I hit post,I got a notification that I was blocked for breaking the rules of the sub. I guess, even though the truth is pretty plain here, there's always going to be people who believe differently. What's really scary though is that if Amber hadn't got so grandiose with her claims(he was wearing big rings and hit me so many times I lost count, here is the proof, then shows a photo of normal red cheeks) she probably would have gotten away with the lies and Depp would be ruined.

Also, when Heard claimed she got beat up & _then_ Depp wrote mean things on the mirror to her & she took pictures of the _mirror_ for evidence of how mean he was but didn't take a single picture of her bruised & bloody face? The "conversation with himself" was just a cherry on top of that point. You wanted to show how abusive he was but didn't take a photo showing potential evidence of his physical abuse? Also, it was engraved with "until death". Like, first off, don't give a lethal weapon an engraving romanticizing death (unless it was given/passed on from a dying/dead person maybe). And secondly, don't give someone a gift with fucking wedding vows on it when you've not even been together one year. And thirdly, if your boyfriend hits you all the time with big chunky rings, don't give him a weapon, especially not one engraved with essentially "only death can break us up". Like, every single aspect of the gift was a bad idea if we're to trust Amber. But if we believe Johnny, then yes, someone with intense emotions and a fear for being apart would definitely make those kinds of gestures sooner and would sooner ignore all three of those red flags.

@@avp6730 Emily spoke about this at some point, Depp's team whole strategy is to make Amber explain herself and let the jury decide for themselves if she's lying or not, the team doesn't have to spell everything out for the jury because if the jury arrives at a conclusion on their own they'll feel more sure this conclusion is correct, so they lead the jurors to the answers but let them take the final step. No one likes to be told what to think, just compare the closing arguments of boths teams, it's ridiculous, Elaine was trying to give the jurors her own answers so hard, so was rottenborn but I think he was more subtle about this. And this is why I don't understand how someone can watch the whole trial and still claim Amber is right, it feels like her and her team were fighting against the truth the whole time, I feel awful about thinking this cause I know there's people who are real victims that do sympathize with Amber but I can't just wrap my head around it.

The Team Work in this trial From Brown-Rudnick is amazing...Even Dennison is there watching. He has no witnesses today, but he is watching her. This is preparing his cross of her witnesses to come. He was there yesterday too. The attorneys behind the scenes work is awesome, they sit there also. My gosh Depp has at least a dozen working for him that we can see! The work done for Vasquez & Meyers to back them up with facts is mind boggling. Chew Chose This Team, Assignments & duties. Camille aiding Jessica with Depp Testimony & Jessica aiding Camille with Heard Testimony will probably be the norm for big cases from now on. I think Jessica Myers Deserves Way More Credit For Her work here. She Handled Depp with just as much expertise as Camille did with Heard. Sad she didn't get recognized for that. I love that Chew let these younger Attorneys have their witnesses also. The one who had Ben King Was very good & the Blonde young lady had a great voice in court. But Dennison's presence was the tell for me. He's going to let Dr. Curry know what he witnessed. He's going against more witnesses to come. This team is Very Professional and Each Gave Their All. Bravo Brown-Rudnick!

Holy crap that call when she's frantically begging him not to go, and she starts crying and saying that she's going to die if he leaves? Holy that is the biggest presentation of BPD I've ever heard. This solidifies her BPD diagnosis in my opinion. It's so textbook and Powerful. She believes her own lies. She has distorted thoughts and she gets confused about who did what because she has no identity. She steals Johnnys. She gets the two of them confused because she completely depends on his identity. Without him she literally feels like she doesn't exist at all. This is a severe pathology and that's enough for me to completely believe that all those manipulative lies shr told are absolutely & accurately pathological diception

That recording was the one time I actually felt sympathy for her, because I knew when she said “you’re killing me,” she meant it literally. I’ve since wondered if she also felt like she was literally being poked, backed into a corner and shoved against a wall, and if that’s where her allegations of abuse come from - she _feels_ like she’s being physically attacked, and that perception becomes her reality. I’m no expert on BPD, far from it, but that would explain a lot. (I’ve also got some theories about the things she reports JD screaming at her being things her father said when he was abusing her, e.g. “be a man,” “you think you’re tough?” and “you fucking ruined my life,” none of which sound characteristic of JD, but that’s enough armchair psychology for now.) The confused identity aspect hadn’t occurred to me, but I think it’s a solid observation, and probably spot on. Thanks for sharing it!

Amber doesn't have the brainpower to both lie and focus on the questions past, present, and future coming from her adversary, Camille and keep her story straight. That's why the descrepences slip in, the contridictions in the next sentence, the real Amber between the shifting emotions. The times she gets lost and she has to ask Camille to repeat the question I believe she has been so focused on her next lie she didn't hear the words coming out of Camille's mouth. Most don't seek medical help, but she had resources. Private nurses and doctors. Had she been afraid of it being reported, she had enough time away from Depp, since he "left and disappeared during fights", that she could have safely went to an ER and wouldn't have to name her attacker. Most victims don't take photos out of fear, she took embarrassing photos of him while she also claimed he demanded the password and constant access to her phone, and not only wasn't afraid he'd get mad at the embarrassing photos, but failed to take accurate photos of injuries. During my time with an abuser, there wasn't current technology. Had I taken a photo that had to be developed or taken one on the first camera capable phones, I would have been in trouble. She could have taken photos of injuries and hid them in apps, put them in the cloud but deleted them from her phone, saved them on a memory card, etc. She accidentally said it herself in an interview, normal people don't have the resources she had,yet she still doesn't have evidence. Several punches to the face with chunky rings, black eyes and busted noses, then she holds up a photo with a slight red mark on her face and expects people to believe her. It's insane.

I dated a girl who was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Paranoid Personality Disorder, and this was like watching and hearing my own relationship played back to me. BPD's are the most wonderful and terrible people at the same time, and whatever triggers their BPD can turn a great time into an absolute nightmare. There's no rationalizing with it. You want to talk to them like they're able to see reason or be logical, but once they're disorder is triggered, they're no longer in the driver seat. The disorder completely takes over. There's no arguing out of it. There's no way to reach a conclusion peacefully. It just escalated and escalates until it peaks. Johnny was still in the stage of trying to talk sense into her in those voice recordings, because we think we can. We think we can get through. And him trying to go to different rooms, and her following to force the situation to become worse and worse, was exactly my experience too. I ended up having to evict her, because she refused to leave after I broke up with her. I had to video tape my entire house to protect my things from being destroyed. I had to have family stop by while I was at work to ensure she wasn't burning my house down. Not exaggerating. My mother caught her one time when she came over, walking around my house and motorcycle with a hammer. I had to make records with the police department in case the situation required law enforcement. That was the worst month of my life waiting on that eviction to be enforced. She packed and left willingly 2 days before her month was up, but made my life hell for 28 days. She never shit in my bed though. Thank God.

She is with absolute certainty- an abuser. Who drags anyone she’s with down into a cycle of abuse and chaos perpetrated by HeR hands. It feels like a form of victim blaming. Some people are raised to believe this is love, and it’s not their fault.

I hated being in the same space as her, I felt repulsed whenever she touched me and I didn't feel safe going to sleep often as our doors had no locks. We've come across each other from time to time at different events in the city but don't think we've ever actually spoken with one another. I overheard them talking about the case and we had a little back and forth, few minutes later we invited them over to our table and we all talked for around 2 hours...... We all even made plans to meet up again this Friday. This might come across wrong but we dubbed the case our 9-11(b/c right after 9-11 the people were unified).

And when the audio, around 2:44:30, Emily slightly misquoted. When Johnny and Amber were fighting outside his Sweetzer house he doesn't say, "I'm sorry I've upset you", he says, "I'm sorry I've upset you this much." I don't know if that makes a huge difference. If you've been abused, I truly cannot see any scenario where you would speak to your abuser in such a way. Furthermore, the idea of Amber seeing Johnny as two separate entities. Saying she was trying to speak to a different part of him is simply not tracking for me. It's not a human simply split in two, like he's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! "I was trying to get through to Johnny." No. Absolutely not congruent with anyone who has been in an abusive relationship.

Adding to my previous comment - it’s also chilling to hear her manipulative rhetoric on the recording, begging him to stay, while throwing around language illustrative of physical assault (“throwing me up against the wall”). It’s just as chilling to hear the obsession in her voice in these moments - not fear as she’d like to portray. Further, I wonder if in these moments she actually has tears, while “sobbing” hysterically to him, or if its (what I assume) just more of the acting we’ve already seen from her.
