Recently decided I just didn't want to keep buying new, new, new as my collection was getting overwhelming. I wanted to take a time out and dig into my collection to actually use what I have. I've come back to products I loved so much but stopped using only because something else came out. We moved into our dream home in May and I now have the room to display and spread out my collection. Every day, I've gone in and kinda shopped my stash. It's been so much fun. This "older" stuff has reinspired me in a way continuously buying new product wasn't. It would be awesome if KZbinrs went back and did this more often. The ones I've watched who've done it were visibly excited to find old loves.

What about making a video on make up that comes from a natural food health store. I'm not talking about burt's bee, most speciality stores will have a section of their own makeup. I've bought several of their lipsticks and they are pretty good. A full face of this kind cosmetics would be interesting and educational to see.

Wow, very surprised to see lots of older products make the list! I definitely see how these things would win for people who don't watch KZbin/Insta, and perhaps just stick to their tried and true favorites from years ago. Those who do watch KZbin definitely fall into that trap of wanting to buy the latest and greatest because of the people we love using/selling all these new, interesting looking products to us. Puts things into perspective a bit. On another note, the Urban Decay Naked 2, I got rid of mine about a year ago only because it had been used to death and it was just that time to shed it. I haven't repurchased, only because I have many other things I'm working through in my stash. I loved it though. Cool/neutral tones have fallen out of the atmosphere, but I think they're coming back and I wouldn't be surprised to see this palette make a comeback soon. It is one of those Urban Decay oldies that doesn't go out of style.

I used to have a subscription to Allure but I have to admit that I haven’t picked one up in years! Best of Beauty was always my favorite issue even though year after year it seemed to show a lot of the same products. Most of the winning products you used have been staples of mine for a long time. Maybe it’s because I have such oily skin all over but I love the NARS concealer. I try all the new ones that come out but I always go back to it. I think NYX butter glosses are still some of the best on the market. I agree that it’s nice to see the general public praising an “oldie but goodie” eyeshadow palette. I feel very overwhelmed by all of the new releases and I know a lot of people don’t have the desire, or let’s be honest, the money to keep up with everything that’s being so hyped up on social media. I know I don’t! I’m so glad you did this video(it brought back memories!) and the look you created with Naked 2 is gorgeous. You’ve made me want to bring mine out of hiding!!

I have the Naked2 and use it at least twice a week. In fact, it's the only "large" palette I've ever repurchased. As Arcy Young said a few minutes ago, most of us (IRL people) do not have as many makeup products as "professional" KZbinrs have, so we revisit our tried and true ones frequently and become comfortable with them. From the Allure list, I also have Tarte's Amazonian Clay blushes (Exposed is indeed a favorite) Nars' Creamy Concealer, Loreal's Lash Paradise mascara, and many lipsticks by NYX (although the Butter Gloss is not my favorite formula). I've tried the Kat von D liner several times, but it doesn't work well with my ageing, textured lids. Although none of these products is my personal #1 within their category, they are probably close to "second best" so I feel this list represents makeup consumers like me quite well!

Hahahaha! That's a great way to describe it! If I had to describe my Kat von D Trooper eyeliner results with a visual, I'd say it looks like those paintings we made as kids by dropping watered down ink on a paper and then blowing those drops away from the center using a straw...do you know what I'm referring to? Those scraggly chicken scratch branches coming out of a solid line? Cute on paper, hideous on my eyes!

As a hooded eye gal, I’d really love to see you take your eyeshadow higher up towards your brow bone. You have such a lot of beautiful space to expand on. I’d love to see you maximise this. I feel the same about your contour/bronze, blush & highlighter. Loved this video idea! About two years ago, I was very loyal to Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer but I remember going through the product so quickly with daily use. Now, I’m very loyal to Tarte Shape Tape... I’m almost finished with tube number two and have a backup waiting to be used. It’s really refreshing to see some “older” products mentioned in this list. Although I watch KZbin for entertainment and reviews, as a consumer I don’t always buy the latest and greatest. I used to, but about a year ago I just felt like for me and my lifestyle (regular person, not a reviewer) it was just wasteful to consume more makeup than I could realistically use. I have to say, the Vapour stick foundation was an absolute match for you Emily! In my little world, the Naked pallets and the NYX glosses live in my friends make up bags!!! I’m sure people bought the N2 because it was safe enough and soft enough for everyday. I wonder if everyone has hit pan on the lighter shades and the deeper dramatic shades might still be full. Ya know?! And the NYX glosses are safe as well. Cheap enough to have several. And if I’m going to just “pick up” something for my makeup collection those glosses get me excited but don’t break the bank. Excellent video idea!!!

Lol I decluttered both of the naked palettes I had over a year ago. To be fair tho, I did use them quite a bit before I got really interested in makeup and they were my go to palettes. I think it's more of a mixture. Like American Idol voting where they make you think you have input but really they push through who they deem stars. They also either don't show you results or show you limited results. Why? Bc it's a rigged thing make no mistake about it!

I did not like the Nars concealer on my older dry undereye, nor did I care for the Naked 2, which I owned and gave away years ago. I agree with the Lash Paradise and the Kat von D Trooper. That stick foundation was odd. Do you purchase it in Wholefoods, lol? I think most people when given a survey can make up things to try to impress...I don't believe these are actual choices people use, or I wonder the demographic they used for the survey. A lot of your face is done with non-Allure choices. Evidence that the choices are not real. No highlighter, old palette, nope, not happy with this years winners. Thanks for the review and demo!

I think I'm the only person in the beauty community that is not impressed by the L'Oreal Paradise mascara! I find it too be too heavy for my lashes. It makes my curly lashes straight over the course of the day. I was really surprised that the fan favorite wasn't the Too Faced Better Than Sex.

I think it just shows the difference between normal people buying a few products to wear everyday and then us (some of us) makeup hoarders and youtube binge watchers! Plus most of these products are available in stores when a lot of the popular KZbin stuff is largely online (morphe etc). Maybe x

I'm wondering if it's more a sign that there's actually quite a lot of people out there with a preference for cooler-toned shades and when you take away the plethora of warm neutral & sunset toned palettes, there's not a lot of cooler toned ones left to choose from... specially for people who may not pay too much attention to all the new release & indy brand info you can get from the online youtube & beauty blogger world.

I think this video was a good concept. It highlights the difference between ‘real people’s’ make up kit & ‘KZbin’ lovers make up kit. I think the difference being the constant buying for the next best thing. Most people aren’t able to do that. If we’re watching a beauty KZbinr, we probably all have way too much make up (myself included) but the rest of the population don’t & aren’t chasing the newest releases of everything. I recently realised that when a friend saw my make up collection & was horrified. It reminded me of my make up bag before KZbin. 🙈 I certainly had more spare cash back then! 🤣
