You are so much fun, and so great to watch and learn from. You've turned me on to a whole bunch of products, and I'm having a blast experimenting with them. I had gotten very lazy about putting on my makeup the past few years, as I approached 60. Now I feel like a teenager again, shopping for new brands, and dupes for the more luxury brands. I freaking LOVE these types of videos. Just playing and chit chatting. I usually play with my makeup before work and show up EXTRA sometimes. My coworker usually says something like, "idk how you wear all that makeup just to work I would be sweating!" You hit it right on the nail when you said that when you love makeup you don't need an occasion to wear it. You make an occasion out of it. Love the look that you created! I picked up the Lorac Pro 4 and really like it, more than I thought I would. I also love the formula, for me it is so easy to work with. I agree about the looks being a little monochromatic but for the average person who doesn't have that much time to play with makeup and isn't that super creative, it is a wonderful palette

Kitty Approved Beauty I think it started as a "KZbin thing", when someone used concealer on their eyelids, which doesn't have the same anti-creasing properties as a proper primer, and people sort of jumped on the bandwagon, since they likely thought it was some sort of "pro tip". I personally think it "muddies" the colors, which defeats my whole purpose of using any type of base.

I use UD primer potion on my eyes and have to set it otherwise it creases before I finish my eye makeup. my eyes are deepset and hooded so maybe that makes a difference.

Kitty Approved Beauty Right??? It defeats the purpose! And I would otherwise just use concealer and powder - which gives more coverage and a blank base than a primer. Setting eye primer takes away vibrancy for me. It’s such an odd phenomenon on YT.

For us oily eyelid girls, especially if you live in a hot climate, setting the eye primer is crucial. If you don't all that work you did will be for naught, as it will fade, smear and dissappear before the end of the day. I put on eye primer, then a bit of NYX milk base, tnen set it with a little light cream colored eye shadow. Doing this keeps all the other color shadows I now put on top in place all day, and it won't dissappear from sweating.

Emily, I totally hear you on not setting the eye primer!!! Us beauty junkies NEVER did that for years (think back to UD Primer Potion days in that genie bottle), and then all of the sudden, setting it is the "correct" thing to do. I definitely haven't jumped on that bandwagon either! To me, I feel like it defeats the purpose of using primer, if you're just going to block the layer of primer from your eyeshadow colors. Glad someone else feels that way! :)

citymakeupoldies I am not sure about the trend here on KZbin, but I have to set mine with a translucent powder as well as dusting it across the finished product because my eyelids are so oily and it melts off in a matter of 2-4 hours if I do not not. I have tried different primers but my shadows will not stay put if I do not add layers 😢

The makeupchair keeps encouraging people to not set the primer for better results. I’m gonna stick to that method lol. When I started hearing about that trend all I could think was why? Why are we setting eye primer now? No one has explained it to me yet.

@@meelliemoe For people like myself, it has to do with longevity of the eyeshadow. My eyelids are so oily that if I do not have an extra barrier of powder (that actually absorbs oil) then my my shadow is a mess less than 4 hours into my day. I cannot use regular powder or eyeshadow though, it has to be translucent powder that absorbs oil. I learn all of my oily hacks from Nikkia Joy who is a makeup artist in Australia. Hope that helps!

For us oily eyelid girls setting the eyeprimer with a light dusting of a cream color shadow or translucent powder before applying other shadows is crucial. I even apply a bit of NYX milk eye base over my eye primer, then set it with a light cream color shadow before I go to town on creating an eye look with other shadows. I live in Florida and summer is beyond hot, and if I did not do this, it would fade off, melt off, and dissappear.

“Make up is the occasion.” I love it. I start off with intensions of, “Let me throw a little color on my face so I don’t look like a zombie walking through Target” or “I’ll keep it natural.” I dip a crease brush into some eyeshadow and it’s like I black out. I come to and I look like I’m ready for a cocktail party. Still run my errands all glammed up. Moving forward when I’m asked what’s the occasion, my response is going to be, “Makeup.” Love the look! Can’t wait for your final assessment on the Lorac palette.

I don't know how much that quad costs, but I know Dior tends to be higher end, and that compact looks like it would not save the product at all even in the shortest fall!! Wow! I agree about eye primer! I thought I was the only one who doesn't set the primer with a neutral color. I find that the colors last much longer when I just go straigt in without setting. I prefer the layout of the lorac eyeshadow. It looks really pale girl friendly. I don’t use eye primer anymore. I just use my tarte shape tape because my eyes are so oily. Before I went cruelty free I used to always use Mac paint pot over too faced primer and that combo was the only thing that worked. I feel like shape tape is so matte it works. I do set it with wet and wild compact powder thing or translucent or white powder.

The Tarte Creaseless concealer deserves so much more love! I was also a fan back from the squeezy tube days. It's one of the most hydrating, full coverage concealers I've ever used. The littlest bit goes such a long way! Loved that you called this mommy playtime btw (mommy's version of these "kids playing with toys" video haha) Do your girls watch those too? They're so crazy!

Ok....because of you I got wrapped up in Santa Clarita Diet, which I laughed my butt off at the beginning but now it's gotten kind of drawn out and I haven't watched it in a couple of weeks.
