The mindset "I GET to do..." trick especially helps me with laundry and dishes. I get to do laundry because my family is blessed with clothes to wear. I get to do dishes because we are blessed with food to eat. I read long ago about a woman who was always angry about her husband's laundry on the floor, and then he passed away and she realized she missed picking up after him. The mess often means that we have people around us that we love and are able to serve.

Homework hack: my son hates school work. So we do the homework and then I tell him let's play you are the teacher and then he teaches me how to do things. Then I also often pretend to be the uninterested naughty student, and he has to try and get me to listen and stay focused. He loves this part and we laugh another! He also gets to 'sign off my work'. Getting him to teach me seems to have worked really well.

As a teacher, this is brilliant because by him teaching you, he is recalling what he's learned therefore the knowledge is more likely to stick and he won't forget! That's why, for example, history teachers knowledge so many days because they repeatedly teach them year after year!

I literally can't understand how cutting your own child's nails in a way that reduces their stress is unethical? 🤦🏼♀️ Really? ... I think it's genius. I have 4 boys Emily.. and have been following you since I was pregnant with my 4th (Jake) he's just a little younger than Jackson. Reading to eachother is amazing! It's creates just a bond. Thanks for your amazing videos xx
@cwong23103 жыл бұрын
I don't understand it either. When I was pregnant with my first child, I read that the easiest way to trim babies' nails is when they're asleep. It reduces so much stress for both parent and child especially when the child is so fearful about it regardless of age.
@ladydrone23453 жыл бұрын
The mindset adjustment can be paid forward too. At the end of the day when all my kids' toys needed put away l would ask them, "Would you like me to help you pick up?". lt taught them: 1/ Picking up was their responsibility, and 2/ lt's nice to offer help to each other.

A couple things happened unintentionally that aren’t “hacks” I guess but could be - we are always complimenting each other and it’s rubbed off on my 4yr old such that he openly tells me if he really likes a dress I am wearing or new sunglasses. It really warms my heart and I realised it’s because we tell him how much we like his things and each other! Similarly, our tot has somehow picked up gratitude! He is thankful for things and even small things he tells us he is thankful we could do it or that we gave something to him. It’s wonderful 💜💜💜

Thank you. Watching this actually makes me feel a little bit better about learning to find ways to manage as a mum especially with more than one. Hey Emily. Am here catching up and am glad i came. These are my take home tips: 1. Baskets lots of baskets 2. Lay everything out the previous evening 3. Make it a race (use the boys competitive nature to your advantage. I have two boys though one is still small. Can't wait for him to get bigger so i can use this trick) 4. Have one non negotiable self care thing (i would call it an irreducible minimum lol for my Kenyan friends if you know you know) 5. My eye opener - Cut nails at night. This is going to be a game changer for me. My last born hates to have his nails cut. 6. Mindset trick - "I get to do ............" instead of" i have to do ........" am lucky. Others don't get to do it. This is so powerful. 7. 10 minutes of undivided attention. (As a working mom am always feeling so guilty because i don't get to spend so much time with my kids. 8. Siblings help. (My 10 year old could help me in reading for my 3 year old. This is genius) Thanks a lot for sharing these wonderful tips. I had to get myself a cup of Limuru tea to sip on as i soak up all these tips.

Hey Emily, hope you’re all well I’m happy, good and well thank you good evening love this 20 everyday use mum ideas video. I have really enjoyed these 20 everyday use mum ideas. They are such lovely and wonderful everyday use ideas too. I thought the school run alarm is a great one because it will just remind you to do some errors outside or pick the children from school. My favourite everyday use ideas was the Get everything ready the day or night before idea is so lovely because it helps you to get organised for the mornings and week too. I have snack drawer in my kitchen and it’s handy for me to get something from the drawer as well. The pens on a string is such a brilliant idea so you know all the pens that would need is all in place with you. Another great one is freezing kids smoothies to make into lollies. Those smoothie lollies are so nice and refreshing as well. I really like this basket everyday use idea because it made me suddenly thought I use baskets and containers to put all of my essentials and things I would definitely use or need on a everyday of the week basics too. I love using baskets they are so simple and easy to throw and put things into the baskets all the time. I love the trampoline as well. I like your multi - coloured striped pastel jumper and your navy dress. It looks lovely on you. One of my own everyday use idea that I would love suggesting to you is practise becoming happy and better everyday of the week see if you are really happy for the whole day as well. I use this happy idea all the time too. I love this idea. Can we see more what I eat in a day groceries hauls day in the life morning and evening night routines cleaning motivation clean with me extreme clean and organise with me cleaning routines motivation clothing hauls home ware Poundland b and m tkmaxx home sense home bargains the range wilko shopping hauls ultimate meal prep family dinners ideas packed lunch ideas summer clean and decorate with me more picnic cleaning kitchen BQQ summer spring autumn winter snack storage organisation home ideas party hacks DIYs videos and lots more inspiration motivation lovely videos coming from you soon. If you have girls packing a sundress in your car is easy & a lifesaver!! I also always have a plastic bag in my car. Another hack is juice boxes….pull the corners up and have them hold on to those instead of squeezing the box and spilling it. And for those of you with kids who don’t like wearing socks or the socks are itchy etc just let them wear the socks inside out!!! No strings or bumps to bother them!!! I have my kids pick their outfits out every Sunday and I steam their clothes and have everything set for the week of what they are going to wear and it makes things easier during the week …no morning melt downs of what they want to wear. I also always have my kids brush their teeth before putting on their school clothes…I’d rather wash their pjs than have a school shirt ruined with toothpaste in the morning. I no longer have babies but I learned that you don’t need a changing pad just wipes and a diaper & just use the paper towels in the bathroom to line the diaper changing station.

Why cause them extra stress when you can just do it and they won’t even know. That’s what we do with newborns so why not with bigger kids! I’m lucky that my kids like to watch their nails being cut, but I would totally do it if I had to! I also use cuticle scissors rather than nail clippers, there’s no uncomfortable noise or corners to straighten after and I have full control of the scissors rather than wondering if clippers are going to snip too close to the skin. Thanks again for everything you share, I look forward to your videos! Take care! :)

These are great tips! My son hates getting his hair washed, so we use goggles too. It works great! My daughter, just recently, got a small shard of glass stuck in her foot. She would not let us take it out at all. She was just to scared. So I told her that once she fell asleep I would take it out then. She was so happy about that. It was a lot easier to do that in her sleep, and huge plus was it didn’t hurt her, because she was asleep and when she woke up she was so thankful that it was out.

My MIL is quite judgemental when it comes to tidiness, so if I'm in a 'I can't be bothered to tidy up' mood, the first thing I do is day to myself 'MIL is visiting in 10 minutes' and it makes me instantly feel like i need to tidy up. Sounds very weird but totally works in my head! Xx
