It's so funny to think of kids playing outdoors as a rare thing. I grew up country living and "playing dirt" was what you did! Mud pies, cars and trucks in dirt roads etc. Kids can make up anything, anywhere. The beauty of childhood creativity is such a treasure. I'm glad they played wi th acorns and had fun! This was a cute video hun!

I was born in the 80's and cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks were a regular at children's birthday parties. I still like it! Nostalgia I guess. I remember some mums would wrap up half a melon in tin foil before putting the sticks in and make a hedgehog face out of some glacé cherries?! Good times ;) x

I was born in 1960 so this was really fun. And kind of eye opening and memory inducing! There were 5 kids in my fam. I was the oldest and I had 4 bros. Just lost my oldest bro last month to a long horrible surgery mistake. It is so nostalgic and bittersweet hearing about that era! We DID spend most of our time outside. We got in trouble too lol! Hiding in the corn fields and climbing on the roofs of the house and garage....fishing for crawdads and biking all over. Very different nowadays. Sadly more and more unsafe for the innocents of this world. Thankyou! You did a lovely job!😍

Dear Emily, hello from Brazil. I love your videos!!! I'm a first time mum, my baby is now 45 days old and your tips were really helpful, so thank you very much. I would like to give you a tip, if I may: in this video (and in the 50's video as well) I realized that you wash your dishes with the faucet open and the water running. It may be because you are used to put everything in the dishwasher. If you wash them by hand with the water running, not only you will waste a lot of clean water, but also your water bill will became extremely expensive. To avoid wasting water (our most important natural resource) you should clean one of the dishes (preferably a bowl), fill it with water and splash a little bit of water on all the other dishes inside the sink. Then, with the faucet closed, you should put soap on your sponge and scrub all the dishes; if the sponge would get dry, you would make it wet by dipping it in the water filled bowl. After you would scrub all the dishes, you would wash all of them at once. Like that you can save galons and galons of water. To make it easier to clean, always start with the cleaner dishes (like cups and glasses) and leave the dirtier dishes (the grease ones like pans and plates) for later. English is not my first language, so I ask for you forgiveness of an y gross mistakes. Thank you for your videos

I remember my mom and her friends in the 60s since I was little. They all went to the hairdresser each week to do their bouffant. People dressed up more. My mom said it was a rule they had to wear dresses to school. So a lot of women wore dresses not jeans. They all got married younger too. Twiggy was in vogue. I remember my dad had his black Elvis hair still. Later he had the 70s Elvis hair. Lol 😊. I love the early 60s more. I loved your video. I just found your channel. ❤️💕❤️

Really enjoying your videos. I knew Europe had smaller freezers, but didn't know they didn't have them in the 60's -- I grew up in the 50s & 60s and we had a freezer compartment in the top of the freezer. The milkman used to deliver and occasionally we could talk Mom into letting us get ice cream. Frozen food wasn't as ubiquitous as it is now and I grew up on canned peas or fresh peas; I can still remember the first time we had frozen peas cooked for dinner!

I remember we kind of did the starter thing once at home as well. We scooped out half of a watermelon for the fruit punch and stacked saté sticks with lots of fruit (strawberry, Apple, mandarins) and sticks with veg (cherry tomatoes, cucumber, tiny slices of radish) and my mum drew the face of a porcupine on one side and that's what she served our guests visiting for my 5th birthday. It really reminded me of your starter

I am 56 years old and I was a child of the 60's. I played with Lego, Sindy dolls, a Sooty glove puppet, a dolls house, dolls and a dolls pram. Toys were very directed at each sex and I was unusual that I had Lego as it was considered a boys toy. My Mum was a housewife until I was 10 then she went back out to work. I started school in 1965 and would walk a mile each way, we didn't have a car (we lived in rural South Wales then so a poor bus service even then!). Mum would clean the house in the mornings, she had set days for set things i.e washing on a Monday, ironing on a Tuesday etc. Food was ordered and then delivered by the shop. When I was a baby Mum would take me out for a walk in my big Silver Cross pram each afternoon if the weather was OK. I seem to remember spending a lot of time indoors otherwise when we lived in Wales. When we went back to Sheffield I played out all the time with my friends. We ate meat, veg and potatoes, puddings and cakes. In the 1970's we started eating rice, quiche and things like that. I didn't start eating things like pasta and pizza until I was a housewife in the 1980's. When Mum went back to work I would let myself into the house and get my own snack and wait until my parents got in for tea. I spent the school holidays with my Grans.
