Kamikaze made me believe he still had it after the disappointing revival. I thought he was done tbh and not because I didn't think he was good anymore, but because I felt that his hunger wasn't there. Usually when someone whether they're an artist, athlete, etc, once they accomplish everything they then have to dig deep to find inspiration, and all of the people who were hating on him including critics gave him that inspiration to make an album like Kamikaze. Revival imo would've been good for any other artist as it had some good tracks, but overall not good for Em's standards

When on a BET cypher a few years back, it was all aimed at Trump and half his fans were trashing Em after it being he end the cypher with "F**k Trump* and some other stuff directly into the camera. This track/album was a response to critics and damn near everybody disliking his album "Revival" like 4 years back being it had Pop hooks, so this track/album is when he started mixing in mainstream hip-hop and reinvented himself. Eminems "Story mode" verses always have an Inside story to where if u don't know it, ur missing most of the point but he spits impressive enough to cover all his bases nomatter who's listening. ‘Business’ is a good “talking shit” song - ‘believe’ is full of doubles and wordplay - ‘darkness’ is literally a double entendre the entire song. One side speaks on the Vegas shooter perspective while the other side is Eminem getting ready to perform a show. There are tons of doubles between gun references and Eminem’s experience that are insane. There are sooo many songs y’all need to cover bc u haven’t seen half of it. Try to pay attention to the time periods of the songs so it helps catch references. Don’t worry about what Stan’s bitch about but u may want to break songs down a lil more with lyrics or doing a pre listen study bc he’s lyrics are so layered, go so deep, and are a lot of references. It takes me many listens in a lot of his songs to catch everything and I have to google shit all the time, and when I do, it makes it all so much better and I appreciate and acknowledge things that he is doing that are very impressive that I would have never even noticed otherwise…which is why most people don’t get Eminem and are confused why there is any argument for him being mentioned in the goats. I wanna also say that u can judge rappers off many different skill categories and Eminem can compete in all of them bc he has every tool in his tool belt. But these list are usually subjective and just an opinion so here’s my personal top 3 in no order bc they shift around a lot. Wayne, drake and Em.
