Everyone seems to miss the powerful imagery when he gets up and walks into the stage full of lights (cameras). He's no longer alone in the darkness -- shooters get prime coverage and sensationalized. This ENTIRE thing was a masterpiece.

People who didn't listen to the lyrics nor understand the creativity that was put into this. The lyrical depth of this song to bring EM's own personal mental struggle/addiction to one of a killer....insane. This goes deep with everything EM dealt with in his past. Something that goes unnoticed on the outside to others as that individual deals with their own darkness.

"They'll never figure me out." Its been 20 years and we still haven't, so he's finally telling us. This is it, his entire life in one song.

Correct on the nod to Sound of Silence, but I interpret the Sound of Silence a little differently. That song, to me, represents society's inability to foster effective communication. It is not limited to the '60s, but is just as applicable today. This, interesting enough, can also be a double entendre to Em's music and society. Em feels like people don't fully grasp the deep meanings within his music, but instead takes them at face value. This has devolved the rap industry to just making noise instead of communicating a message ("people talking without speaking"). On a societal level, failure to communicate and be heard can have devastating consequences from mental health to legislative failure at passing wide sweeping reformative legislation.

This type of shit is the reason why Eminem will always be my favorite artist of all time no matter how hard he falls off in the future. Nothing he does can discredit what a great artist he is. It takes someone with immense talent to pull off these kind of continuous double entendres, and he does it so discreetly. This song made me get kinda emotional. Partially because of the significance of the message, but partially because it reminded me why I will always be a loyal Stan.

This is a masterpiece from Eminem- and i really liked how you broke it down even though you catched it late- that made it even more real and i think, you made the double meaning really clear- and thats waht it is about! It makes it relatable! Great reaction video!

I really love how in the beginning, you can sympathize with the character he's portraying. It forces you to realize that these people who mass murder are just as human as us, and that is a scary thought. It could be your neighbor, it could be your nephews best friend in high school, it could be your lawyer. Everyone has the potential to snap, but mental health isn't taken very seriously in America. If enough people really cared, perhaps it could change. I'm not defending anyone who does these horrible horrible things, by the way. I just find that making these people out to be monsters, less than human is more harmful than accepting that humans can be like this. If you recognize this, you can try to help prevent it more. Idk i'm kinda rambling now.

No these are monsters. I don't sympathize with them. Mental illness or no, you're a grown ass adult and you know its wrong. And instead of seeking help, coming out saying they are wanting to do things like this they go through with it. Inexcusable. Even if they weren't monsters before, they certainly were after they did it. Not just any kind of human is capable of this. Only certain kinds. Mental illness is a problem and should be addressed. But I don't sympathize with killers under any circumstances and they should not be shown any ounce of leniency. Crazy or not.

Its a triple entendre.. Eminems own mind is alonr in the darkness, he's trying to pull us in with him. He's always done this. Since "SSLP". He doesn't even know why. "You'll never find a motive." "They'll never figure me out." Its been 20 years and we still haven't, so he's finally telling us. This is it, his entire life in one song.

@@radtalon6079 at first i thought the last couple lines were only about the shooter but if you apply it to Ems life it makes sense. "By the time its over, it wont make the slightest difference." meaning this song wont stop people from doing mass shootings, so why even try?

Another part that I love in this song: “nobody’s at, no body shows.” If no one is there, there won’t be any bodies. I feel like that can be a double, too. Maybe. Someone else mentioned that my thoughts go hand in hand, with the hook, because: “He doesn’t want to be alone in the darkness, so, the more people he kills, and bodies he takes with him, the less alone he will be.”

I just wanted to say u guys killed this cuz I knew coming here wat this song was about so seeing it unfold build suspense n when u finally put 1 n 2 together I straight got chills what's crazy is that this just proves it was ur first listen. N wats even crazier is that without knowing this was about the vages shooter em painted such a wonderful pix that all ur comments n connections were on point cuz they fit both sides of the story without even knowing wat he was referring to on the flip side
