Eminem knocks out 229 words (containing 339 syllables) in 30 seconds on the song "Godzilla". He raps 11.3 syllables per second. He out-performs 'Majesty' and "Rap God" on this verse in rapping speed by 1.0 and 1.7 syllables per second respectively. That's a new world record!

Disagree with the Revival take. You can tell Em was reaching back and trying to make various songs that sounded similar to previous albums on that album like how Framed was an attempt to appeal to Relapse fans. Plus there was a lot more pop features, Phresher was the only rapper featured. I think Em’s beat selection was more consistent on here than his last two projects. It was dope to see Royce on here a lot as well and a lot more rap features in general.

Revival was just ass. This was mediocre. Kamikaze was good How I look at it
@boywonder67205 жыл бұрын
Revival was described as the most 'pop friendly' of all of his albums. Its like Recovery, except with badly executed political stances, robotic flows, terrible instrumentals, unfunny & bad punchlines, and overall lack of awareness. We gave him the time since MMLP2 in 2013 and that's what he gave us. I don't understand the thought process behind that mess of an album. Now Framed was an entertaining song. That should have EASILY been on Music to Be Murdered By.
@boywonder67205 жыл бұрын
Never really been a fan of Kamikaze. Lucky You, The Fall, The Ringer, sure. Venom, Kamikaze, Nice/Good Guy no. Normal, Stepping Stone, meh. He was really just being mad over how bad his album was, like he said on the Ringer. Like, he proved himself right. I feel like with Music To Be Murdered By, he really found his formula again for going into the 2020s, at least.

You see, I felt the exact opposite about this one... There was something on every track that I liked that kept them from my disliking. I thought it was a great return to form, with Eminem just having fun. A solid 7-8/10 for me. Totally respect your opinion, though. The only thing I think is a poor take is the "I would be okay if Eminem stopped here". A lot of people like the style Eminem is doing; it's less of a "he should stop making music", and more of a "I should stop listening to his music". If anyone is upset with his style of rapping or subject matter, honestly, I don't know what to tell you; Eminem has been doing this for years, and this is his style. You wouldn't shit on Tech N9ne for rapping fast, so why shit on Eminem for his style?

I don’t know what I prefer between Kamikaze and MTBMB, kamikaze is great for most of the short track list and it was the best thing to put out at that time (after people were doubting his lyrical ability on revival). I actually liked this album a lot. The only real issues to me were the bad hooks. There wasn't a single bad or unnecessary feature to me, and I thought he sounded pretty good over a lot of the production you said he sounded unnatural on. It felt like if he took the best parts of Revival and Kamikaze and formed this. Maybe it's just because it's still fresh to me but it's tied with MMLP2 as his best album since TES. Though the subject matter wasn't too consistent or unique throughout, there aren't really many original directions he can go in anymore, and a lot of those songs still were nice to listen to. The songs that worked as double entendres (Darkness and Never Love Again) were some of his best recent songs. I'll admit I'm biased but I'd give this a solid 8-8.5/10

Julsopaiktis # I think that’s because the concept of the sslp was a lot different. It was this funny, fuckless new rapper who didn’t care what he said and could spew out some really funny lines. @E Price the album isn't that bad but I find some of the songs hard to listen to. Probably because of his new voice and flows. He definitely is still up there lyrically (better I'd say) but his new songs lack the emotions his old ones had, but I still like some of the songs on the album like premonition (even though it's a topic he did before the delivery was great and no doubt he was speaking the truth). I also like never love again (good hook) and I will

I really like the corny bars tbh, I think he does it for jokes at times so it's funny at times. Darkness is my favorite song on the album, because of the message and chorus/third verse. This album, somehow very strangely, might be my favorite Eminem album. It’s because he makes the music he wants to make and raps in his normal voice (not too big a fan of slim shady in that high-pitched voice).
@marxxofomniscience37134 жыл бұрын
IloveCzechRepublic Slim Shady in that high pitched voice was how he actually sounded... it’s just that that was a long time ago. It was most noticeable on sslp. But got less noticeable with him being mad on the mmlp, TES was when he wasn’t mad much anymore, same with Encore however this was around the time his addiction came into play more. As his addiction began to get worse his voice became more slurred like how you hear it on the Re-Up and When I’m Gone. Then in his hiatus he barely had any music besides unreleased music where he was quiet or drugged up. Relapse was his return where his voice seems a bit higher pitched from the accents. Recovery was a poppy flow and album since he needed to bounce back. Mmlp2 was nasally but not as high pitched, Revival till now has been the voice he adapted to

It's pretty funny how inconsistent these youtube reviewers are, they love pulling numbers out of thin air without any metrics to justify these "scores", like crypt (whose reactions I love since he is really good at catching bars and schemes) gave one of the songs 7/ 10 and the only critique he had was an effect used on the beat, so he chopped of 30% of the score because of a half a second part of the beat which is not even the important part in a rap song. Em said it himself, people will hate him regardless of what he puts out, also most of your critiques are: "I expected x and got y" or "I don't think this goes with that", which is 100% on you, not on Em.

Isardella Kanye has made lots of classics tho. The college dropout is one of the best debut albums ever n how he influenced the sound of hip hop along with what he was rapping ab. Look at songs like Jesus walks n All falls down which pushed rap further with the boundaries. Kanye made socially conscious rap cool along with the soul sampling he was using then. 808s the influences are still shown today n we wouldn’t have Drake Kid Cudi Travis etc if it wasn’t him pushing boundaries n MBDTF is hailed as one of the greatest albums ever along n I’m not even mentioning Graduation or Late registration. Kanye may not be as good a lyricist as Eminem but he knows how to make good songs produce n have far more substance in his music. Eminem’s catalog is too inconsistent for him to be the goat n honestly hasnt made a great album since 2002. Stans heavily overrate him all time.

No your hunch is correct. His opinion is well respected but reaction channels always say they caught a line when people like me and you come into the comments and speak on them possibly missing lines. Top it off , he is a product of the mumble rap/ psychedelic sounding era (which isn't bad) but be fair to rappers such as Em whose longevity has been longer than CDTV years of living. As an artist it's hard to come up with new stuff you or someone else hasn't covered already so as listeners we shouldn't go in with expectations like this artist is going to rap about the cure for cancer , and CDTV (Though has the right to be objective) is really not understanding that. Eminem is rapping wayyy better than alot of people and it's unfair to crucify that. Now I can understand the choruses here and there but rapping wise ? He is still one of ,nif not , THEE best to ever do it. Also , we have to stop saying "I'm an Eminem fan or a fan of so and so" then proceeds to bash em cause they aren't what YOU want , people use that to not receive criticism from other consistent fans. As a fan of Em , of course not all of his songs 100% perfect , but it's disrespectful where you think Die Lit has more substance.

Hey man, I love your reactions and I do think you have a fair and thought provoking way of reviewing music. But man, I really do think your slighting Eminem on this album. I do understand that the subject matter is repetitive, but like you said, what could you possibly expect out of an Eminem album? Hes done everything and anything in the rap game, from drug rap, horrorcore, boom bap-type rap, party songs, party songs, emotional songs, and personal songs. There isn't anything that true Em fans will be surprised by when it comes to new Eminem albums. I think it's fair to say as an artist evolves and reaches the peak of the rap game that there isn't anything left in terms of innovation. I think I speak for alot of Em fans when I say I'm perfectly fine with Em sticking to what he likes to rap about and in the style he likes to rap in. I like crazy wordplay, top level lyricism and elite flow. I like when he sings even though hes not that good, and I accept his corny lines and like his tongue and cheek and vulgar humor. It's totally fine if you think you're tastes have moved past that sort of hip hop as you say in your video, but I think it is sort of unfair to critique a man who explored every nook.and cranny of the genre for not being innovative. The same problem that plagued Em on recent projects is what people say limits this album again! We continue to compare him to his body of work and what he’s spoken about before, and how he’s rapped before and don’t take the songs at face value. I feel that’s why people feel let down by the album as they say they’ve heard it all before! Without knowing Em’s story or things he’s spoke about before; this album would blow anybody away, word play; fast rapping, the story telling and the mentioning of important and troubling moments in his history. But because people have heard it before they brand it average- there’s only so much someone can rap about in the space of 3+ decades! Lyrically he is still unmatchable and I like to listen to him without needing to make comparisons to his older work or look for new stories and styles. I know what imma get with Eminem, and don’t listen expecting new subject matter, coz he’s mentioned so much stuff with his music before.
@marxxofomniscience37134 жыл бұрын
L0N41D0 Honestly is have to disagree. If nobody heard it before it doesn’t mean anybody would be blown away. A lot of people don’t care for technical and fast rapping abilities. Much appreciated man! Maybe Marsh is one that’ll grow on me with repeated listens, the hook was definitely one of the biggest things putting me off on that one personally

I 100% agree with the revival take, when i first listened i thought "This is revival but actually good"

I feel like Em felt some songs were too dark or heavy, so he added goofy/lightweight songs (Like nights like these) and it just breaks the consistency of the album’s theme

licbo Isn’t a triple meaning it’s a double meaning that only makes sense with “marshmallow” coming after it. Getting head in a bucket and making marsh (Marshall) mellow from getting head (the term mellow after head is the first meaning) and then Marshmello the DJ (head in a bucket because that’s what he wears is that bucket on his head

Through my first listen I was feeling a 6 for the album, but my second listen I loved it so much more I bumped it up to an 8. I feel like you find one negative thing in these songs (weird hook, corny line), and just run with it as a representation of the whole song. I agree that it is all over the place, and I wished it had a more focused theme.

This review is wack, so I'll take it from here Music to Be Murdered By" is proof that Eminem is in his lyrical and technical prime, filling every track with dense wordplay and masterful flows that only Slim Shady himself can provide. A return to a more cohesive and conceptual album experience (i.e. 2002's "The Eminem Show" and 2009's "Relapse"), this album also indicates a return to form for Shady; catchy choruses heard in songs like "In Too Deep", fun/goofy tracks such as "Marsh", and brilliantly complex and powerful songs like the hard-hitting "Darkness". An homage to Alfred Hitchcock and the 1958 album of the same name, "Music to Be Murdered By" incorporates some of the best production heard from Eminem in his recent releases. Dr. Dre's involvement is clear and impactful, as every track creates an infectious vibe consistent throughout the project. With a ton of listen-ability and replay-ability, this album should trend towards the likes of 2010's "Recovery" and 2013's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" when ranking the projects of Eminem's legendary career, certainly contending for a top 5 spot in his discography. The critiques of "Music to Be Murdered By" will likely be aimed mostly at some controversial lyrics within the project and the playful immaturity present in certain songs, which is essentially a trademark of Eminem. I recommend you play-through the album multiple times, as Eminem's wordplay can be lost on first play and replaying will allow you to catch certain things and be able to enjoy the vibe of the album better. My personal critique would be a 91/100 for the stellar production, impressive lyrics, masterful flow, compelling topics and concepts, and truly being a return to "The Eminem Show" era of Slim's career. He took the critiques of 2017's "Revival" and 2018's surprise album "Kamikaze" to fully flesh out this project, and it paid off very well. It is more dynamic and complete than "Kamikaze" while being more direct and in tune with the times than "Revival". Highlights: The Alfred Hitchcock homage/presentation concept The return to his "Slim Shady" persona Masterful flow and lyrics yet again Incredible production and instrumentals throughout The brilliance and impact of "Darkness" The features were incredible The choruses on this project are arguably some of the best of his career A top to bottom cohesive project, while still displaying all of his usual styles, for the first time since "The Eminem Show" Favorite songs: 1. Darkness 2. In Too Deep 3. Godzilla (R.I.P. Juice WRLD) 4. You Gon' Learn 5. Lock It Up A must-listen, "Music to Be Murdered By" is the best Eminem album since 2013's "The Marshall Mathers LP2" and arguably since 2002's "The Eminem Show". A should-be contender for Album of the Year, it's sure to bring home at least one Grammy for the song "Darkness" and earn a nomination for "Rap Album of the Year". Eminem fans should rejoice, Eminem haters will be furious, and anyone in the middle should absolutely give this project a few spins. *Side note: Royce Da 5'9" was incredible in his features for this album, and everyone reading this should listen to his next album "The Allegory" when it releases on February 21st of this year. Will be updated at later points if need be.

Personally, I really liked this album. I though it was a good mix of old Eminem with new Eminem with Kamikaze Eminem as well as a hint of revival to it. I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I didn’t 100% hate revival. For the most part it is pretty bad but there are on or two tracks I like. For this album most of the times you said he doesn’t fit on this beat or this hook doesn’t work with Eminem and or it is better on the beat then Eminem I disagree. I felt like he fit really well on these beats. Not every hook was a winner, but I felt many were very strong. I will agree with the piece about the dysfunctional relationship. I have listened to many of his songs and at this point that topic is probably the driest one out of all of them. It’s probably where I am in my music listening, but I feel almost the complete opposite. This did help me to think about some good points though. In the end I respect what you had to say and will think further.

Because he has touched on the same subject matters his effort is largely going into schemes and wordplay. There's a ridiculous number of hidden bars that you, and most, will miss because it's just too intensive to breakdown. The effort that has gone into constructing them is insane. Comes at the expense of everything else though. It's a technical exercise for him first and foremost these days.
