Emirates Regular Short-Haul Airbus A350 Flights Begin

Fantastic to see Emirates make full use of the A350 in service to help their crew get experience on the type. It was an amazing experience to be on the very first flight from Dubai to Edinburgh on January 3rd.

Sadly we have to congratulate airlines for this now. Extra 1cm/seat compared to old a350. Extra 2cm/seat compared to 787. But still 1.5cm narrower than the 9abreast 777s or 10abreast A380s

Firstly no full service carrier will put a 3-4-3 on their aA350s as its too narrow for it. It will only be done by low cost and leisure carriers.

I was on it from Edinburgh to Dubai on 7th Jan, it was a great modern aircraft, very smooth and comfortable, would be on it again next month

Emirates have 2 A359s . A6-EXA is used on the Edinburgh flight and A6-EXB is being used for training purposes. Interesting that they chose to launch the Edinburgh flight as Qatar have a twice daily flight to nearby Doha using a 788 on the morning flight and a 359 on the afternoon flight totalling 14 flights a week.

Hopefully they'll fly their A350s to Indonesia, especially to CGK and DPS. I really love seeing these new planes such as the A350, 787, and Embraer E2 coming to Indonesia. It would definitely fit the routes of Indonesia like Jakarta and Denpasar.

I had experience flying on SQ A350 from Singapore to Guangzhou and was quite satisfied on the plane. This was a Two-class (40 Business Seats, 263 Economy seats) configuration. I did like the in flight entertainment, however there were no Live TV (Live sport, bbc news, cnbc news). The Map system was very good and displayed the latitude and longitude as well as the bearing and registration number of the aircraft.

Ordering the A350 is one of the best descisions the airline has made. Especially because of the 777x delays!

You know that 777-9 is to replacing its aging A380-800s. A350-900 is the smallest plane in Emirates commercial lineup until the 787-8 arrives. Also the role of A350-900 is to serve medium haul destination with less premium heavy market. Also the A350 is making Emirates brand less premium as emirates had very few planes without first class.

@@planelover234 That's not to say that the A350 can't serve longer routes, it's more than capable and has done so already. The a350-900 does have premium market on it, with the new premium economy suites and the new business class. In my humble opinion it's a big game changer for emirates. That's not to say that the 777X isn't any of that, but it's been delayed for so long its a bit frustration. Even Sir Tim Clark himself expressed his frustration towards Boeing themselves.

It is interesting to see Emirates (along with Japan Airlines) use A350 (900 variant) for relatively short-range service, probably due to demand for high capacity. Normally, for such short-range service single-aisle planes would be more common as their airframe & components are built to handle (more frequent) stress from repeated takeoffs & landings. JAL is ordering A321 (variants not yet announced, LR or XLR). Will Emirates order A321 variants in the near future?

By the way they check the planes system the data is shown on flight radar 24 that they don’t compromise on safety by doing calculated tests but regular and practical flight before letting passengers sit and commencing revenue service.

Any a 350 plane very comfortable i fly to Singapore from Manchester and on to Bangkok so nice sometimes the flight Bangkok on 'dreamliner' 787 really not in same league

I love their A380's and fly quite regularly on them. The A350 flight I took with Singapore Airlines was spectacularly underwheling. The entertainment system packed up one hour into the flight, the cabin was cold the internal panelling rattled and that was just on the way there. I felt uneasy flying back from SIN to FFT and it wasnt the best of all the flying I do, it felt strange. Now, knowing what I do about the Emirates set up I would have to think twice if the 350 was ever put on the MAN-DXB route about booking a ticket. Its a case of wait and see what we get and reports of how it is to fly on their particular version.

@@planelover234 To be frank I do love the emirates first class but let's be honest 99.9% of people do not fly first class. It stupid expensive. I think business class is the sweet spot and emirates should have made more of an effort the controls are taken straight out of mercedes e c class old generation and the seats i think out of s class am not sure. If Qatar can do fully enclosed business why can't emirates? I think emirates didnt go for first class in a350 for now is because they will use it on short haul flights mostly.

After all the a350s are delivered your chances of second flight not having a first class will have increased alot compared to joe. Emiartes have very very less aircraft without it's first class. Emiartes will not deploy tgere a350s only for short haul routes. They are going to deploy it on medium to semi long haul routes with less demand of premium heavy aircraft

Also making aA350-1100 or simply Airbus A350-2000 isnjotnon the ro do list of Ainus as to match(not ot increase just to match) the efficiently of 777-9 they will need new wing more powerful engines, upgrades to landing gear, upgrades to engine pylons, stretch the fuselage. Also it will easily take 5-7 years ro certify that hey which will make the jet too late to enter the market

This is common for new planes that delivered. They do these routes to train the crews, both in plane/on ground & get as much rotation as possible. Before launching the actual long haul routes. It’s part of the process. Anyone who follows aviations knows this. It’s been the plan for months
