You got a point, even if i dont know how filled planes need to be to generate a profit, it is possible boeing's reputation may lower their plane's profitability. For those who answers, I am no aviation expert so tell me if im wrong and why.

@@Anonymous-Frenchman As far as i am concerned you are right. Since the 737 MAX disaster and seeing how greedy Boeing has become and how unstable their work enviromant is i avoid Boeing completly. Since the 737 MAX problem i have never took a Boeing plane and i do not plan of flying on one ever again

@@jimbojimbo6873 it’s not just the 737. There was the complete disaster of the Dreamliner, too. The brand is bad is my point. Quality control at Boeing is a joke right now. Customers are specifically changing flights to avoid being on a Boeing plane. So, to the title of the video’s point, there are numerous reasons airlines are avoiding Boeing right now.

Here is what happened. Boeing used to build airplanes to best meet airline customer requirements. Then, like McDonnell/Diuglas (McD) before the merger, Boeing started telling the airlines what they should want, a cheaper less innovative and more compromised design that was easier and cheaper to manufacture. The 787 was the last clean sheet design Boeing would invest in. Soon, the airlines would decide that like McDonald’s, Boeing was done with innovating new designs. In contrast, Airbus evolved beyond a low cost design and purposely upgraded the A350 to create a much better airplane than the 787 that better meets customer needs and wants. It is a future-proof design that makes it relevant for the longer term. While Boeing has decided that building its future on the cheap is more profitable in the short term. Which is less risky for its Wall Street investors. This strategy failed miserably for McD just as it is failing Boeing today.

@@wesellanybiz not with this management that is focused on quarterly profits instead of focusing on a 2 year cycle, they are only focused on a quarter this limits the resources and time required not only for the development of the new plane, but also for the repair of the 737MAX series And as corporate America is obsessed with "quarterly profits" there is no chance that Boeing will get out of the crisis anytime soon

It did, it completely revolutionised the use of composites. The A380 also had some important lessons which resulted in certain materials not being used on the A350.

The inital A350 turned out to be the A330NEO which is not a bad seller itself, Airbus got two aircraft out of this development.

@@ro-86alkonost78 The A330 is exactly a twin engine 340. It even have the mounts and piping in its wings to fit the third and fourth engines ! This also made it a very good base aircraft for the air-forces tankers, since you could plug the refueling stuff to an existing feature, already present even on cheap second hand passenger air-frames, no structural modification to be made for conversion ( not for that specific refueling pods topic. Other aspects of militarization do need a return to factory for mods, but not to the wings)

The updated A 350 was a catchup with the 787. And most of the benefits you mention already existed with the 787. And Boeing was planning the 777X to catchup with the size and range deficits. But, Boeing has lost their way in engineering partly due to sloppiness with the Max. So, Boeing is falling behind Airbus and Airbus is filling the gaps left in the market. If Boeing does not speed up their development and reliability, they will disappear in the commercial airline business. That will leave the market for Airbus, and whatever Chinese competitors can come along.

I flew Air Chinas A350-900 for the first time from Milan to Shanghai. Its the best airplane ever. I have flown with so many types such as Boeing ,Airbus and fokker and Mc Donell Douglas. I will try to avoid Boeing from now.

The 350 is the same width as the 777 not the 787 the 787 is roughly the same width as the 330 and don't fly Air Canada's 777 they have it set up for over 400 seats very tight

And yet most of the time the A350 has a 3-3-3 layout, as has the 787. This gives the A350 far more comfortable width. The A330 has a very comfortable 2-4-2 layout, whilst having the same width as the 787. So far, Airbus is superior when it comes to passenger comfort. I will choose both Airbus types over de 787/777 any day.

Boeing contributed in research and development finance for the GE 90 engine in exchange of a binding contract that GE 90 engine and all its derivatives will be exclusively be for Boeing planes. And Boeing & Mcdonald Douglas CEOs had been previous GE CEOs too.

The main contributor for sure is its fuel efficiency. Especially after the russian attack on the Ukraine including the related fuel price increase, fuel efficiency overrules everything in modern aviation. Plus, the delays of the 777X program creates additional turnover for Airbus.

Range: A350 8,700 NM vs. B787 6,330 NM and since Russia's war many routes became much longer , all need to fly around both Ukraine and Russia.

Its the XWB engine that makes the real difference. Best fuel efficiency in the world and only available on the A350. Nothing else is close - not even the Trent 1000.

The A350 program is going from strength to strength whilst Boeing seems to be on a slippery downward slope,customers are skeptical of boeing right now,as it has been well documented regarding their financial and quality issues.add into the fact that certain aircraft in their protfolio are being pushed back to later delivery...and thats where Airbus take up the slack.

It's much easier for any airline to order an aircraft that's already flying and has a proven track record. Many of the initial problems with the aircraft are flushed out in the first 5 years. And who knows when the 777-9 would be available. The 787 had too many design and production issues with both the aircraft and engines, and it cost the launch customer ANA a lot of money as planes needed to be frequently grounded, inspected, and components replaced. But if Boeing already had a 777-300ER NEO version available, I suspect many airlines would've simply replaced their aging 777s with modernized/updated ones. Instead many chose A350 even though it has only RR engines because it's available. There is really no negotiating with replacement time-line, so they simply couldn't wait for or gamble with the next gen 777.

The 787 was a revolutionary design and come to market in 2009 compared to A350 in 2015. More importantly when Boeing proposed and started designing the 7E7 program in 2003 , Airbus was slow in counter proposing a competitor of similar quality & only came up with the A350 after the A330 neo had been rejected by customers. By then the 787 order book was already overflowing. I have been on both planes several times long haul. I prefer the A350 myself.

@@ricky1231 the reason why Airbus was slow in counter-proposing a competitor to 787 is because of their mistake. That mistake is focusing on the A380 when the 787 was also being built or conceptualized with Airbus thinking that the A380 is their game changer which turned out to be the exact opposite as it struggled to survive.

The a350 is popular because there is no competition in the segment. Boeings 777x is constantly being delayed and the 787 is too small in comparison.

Qantas has a large order for the A350s but it also has Boeing 787s on order in smaller numbers. Not a complete turning away from Boeing.

A350 900 and 1000 are superior to 787 8 and 9 variants in NVH. 787 is obviously better than older planes like 340, 747 and 777 but falls behind the 350 in cabin comfort.

Well, they probably won’t, the deliveries of the 350 is pushed back to 2030, and further deferred for multiple times and I believe they will end up cancelling it and go for the 777x

Just like Garuda Indonesia, I wanted to Indonesian flag carrier/Indonesia's National Airlines choose on AIRBUS A350 over it's BOEING 777 for the future of longest haul flight route including European route, African route and South/North American route if it is can.

Funny, Boeing has sold 1,142 of the 787, while Airbus has only sold 618 of the A350. And doesn't the A350 have problem with paint coming off the fuselage in large pieces in 2021, to the point they grounded their fleet of aircraft? In fact, Finnair, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Lufthansa and Air France had also complained of paint damage as early as 2016. This may be one of the most biased pieces I have ever read on KZbin. Shame.

No, let me tell you the real reason. So the story starts with the concord supersonic jet, who remembers those? They started crashing and falling apart because of the rivets that held them together, with prolonged flight time the rivets slowly shook apart and the airplanes fell apart. Guess what cheepo Boeing did with some of their airplanes and why parts started falling off? That's why no one wants them, they are a liability.

Honestly like how the 777-300ER was the right aircraft for the 2010s, the A350 came at the right time for airlines looking to replace their 777-300ERs which are now over 20 years old for some airlines.

Ultra simplified. Innovation is a loss of net revenue, only good for the long run. Cost cutting makes board members and stock holders happy. Airbus gambled on the long run, Boeing swallowed itself with greed. Then what Airbus gambled on was the apex of present commercial aircraft. Two as-good-as-it-gets engines coupled to a XWB well designed aircraft that cut no corners with the focus on extreme long range. This essentially is eating most of Boeing's market with the failed 787 and rehash of it's existing less capable or competitive aircraft. Boeing has nothing on the assembly line that competes with the A350 in fuel savings, range, and passenger capacity. More passengers and twice the range of the original Boeing 747 and almost half the fuel burn per hour.

It's not about favoritism. The 787 has been on the market longer. You can't "out sell" a product that doesn't exist yet. The 787 is a great aircraft, but the A350 beats it by a wide margin in capacity, efficiency and range.

Bull. Boeing has it's issues but the B787 has sold 1000+ units with hundreds of orders unfulfilled. And the A350 is more compatible with the B777. Of course the 777 is 90s design and even there the B777 has been an unmitigated success. Of airlines now prefer the B777 it's because it's relatively outdated nothing more nothing less. The B777 has nothing left to prove as it's already a resounding success.

@IBo99608 If you can point out something that I wrote that wasn't factual, then I'd like to hear it. Fact, the B777 is the A350s actual direct competitor and the B777 has been a resounding success. If airlines are choosing the A350, it's because it's a more modern and newer design. Fact, the B787 has been a resounding success and has already sold 1000+ units, with hundreds more orders to fulfill. So no, every airline (exaggeration) is not choosing the A350 over Boeing. Now go crawl back under the rock from whence you came.

Airbus products are from a travellers point of view are crap. I have in the last 12 months travelled 787 A350 AND 777 NUMEROUS times in business class with multiple airlines. BOEING MAY HAVE LOST THE WAY a bit. I’m sure they’ll come back. But airbus’s are cheap from a passengers point of view and wear down inside quickly.

You must have flown with old aged Airbusses. Modern Airbus are much more comfortable and quiet than Boeings. I’d rather hear some noises than falling from the sky or loose aircraft parts….
