Emisar is my favorite flashlight brand. Hank has made some great lights through the years. The D4S is a little thicker but a bit more power. What you have the D4V2 is probably the best value these days since the D1 and D1S are no longer available. I think you would like any of the other Emisar models. You should look out for a D1S on the secondary market. It is a great thrower at a fairly compact size.

I think my next light will be a Noctigon KR4 with channel switching between 5500k LH351Ds and W1s.

@@KnifeThoughts the KR4 is on my short list but I think I will go with a KR1 first. Not sure what tint I will go with yet. Probably something in 5K range. I have tried most of the led’s Hank offers and I still cannot pick a favorite. They all serve a particular need.

I have a dual channel DW4 (basically a D4V2 with a right angle head). It's awesome. Very practical if you choose one channel with floody emitters, and the other with throwy emitters. Very practical. I generally prefer floody lights for EDC, but when I need to throw light, I have to turn those up super high to get useable light. With a dual channel setup you have the best of both worlds.

Nice light though a bit complicated for me (an old fart) with all the options and secret options. However the features provided by this light might just be worth the effort for some folks. Personally I prefer a small flashlight with an on/off only switch (no signals, no sos) located on the end cap that can be pressed on/off with a pressure switch whereby you can also press slightly and it comes on but goes off when you release the pressure on the switch, a focusing beam, completely waterproof and sturdy.

@@jcollins_ I don't mean submersible, I mean able to use it in a wet environment, rain, snow, wet grass/trees, etc. I have an old Tekna light (plastic-ver bright) that is submersible but it does not have a focusing beam. Doesn't really do much under water though.

No, the auxiliary / back lights are RGB. You are just choosing the button light.

great review, does the button leds stays on with out the aux leds? does the power button show the state off charge like the aux leds? Thank you.

The button LEDs match the brightness setting of the aux LEDs, so yes they can be turned off. The power button does not show the charge on this one, but there is now the option to upgrade to an RGB button that can show the charge.

Great review. Trying to figure out what to order in my first hanklight. i want a d4vs2 and was thinking using the same emitter throughout. But the boys over on reddit might have convinced me to do 2 different emitters. I thought maybe that I wanted a nice mixer of flood and throw but after looking through all my lights, I think I want more throw. I know that I do not want to go warmer than 4000k, preferably in the 5000k range. I would like decent runtime or efficiency. I am thinking about sst20, or xpl, and also w1 or w2. Just don't know yet. I don't want to end up buying many hank lights right now.

It’s tough because there are so many options. My next Hank light will be W1 and LH351D for both throw and flood channel switching. I plan on the KR4. Supposedly he’s working on a right angle light also.

Where are the "secret options" ? Do you literally have to e-mail Hank with your "secret options" requests? I went to the website & the options are pretty basic / straightforward.. I didn't find any type of UI or Driver options. I definitely need a Cyan version. Love this color

@@doejon9424 super late response, but yes. Pretty much. It's insane how much these rely on the word-of-mouth/flashlight community. The light doesn't even come with a user manual, it's assumed that you already know what you've bought.

@@KnifeThoughts The shape is sleeker, the (deep) clip is better, and I like the tail switch setup better since I generally hold it with my thumb on the tail. It is a little bigger however (slightly).

you cant actually just swap different materials around. the threads arent always the same. you cant put a copper heatsink on a aluminum body and you cant put a ti cap on a aluminum body. the threads dont match

Are you sure Hank builds these lights? I’ve went thru two of them and both went out within days and when I contacted Amazon they acted like they came from China and there’s nothing they cld do so they gave my money back

@@KnifeThoughts well I think your right these are Chinese copy’s of that light like fakes it has a aliexpress sticker on the inside of the tube I’ve never heard of that company before but I just looked it up and they sell knock off everything so I guess ur right on that

Hank is what the community calls the maker of the light, it might not actually be a single person but it's a personification of the companies customer support. The lights are all made in China but I assure you that the quality is top notch.
