086 - Emission and Absorption Spectra
In this video Paul Andersen explains how the photons emitted from or absorbed by an atom or nuclei is directly related to electrons moving between energy level. Absorption and emission are a direct result of the conservation of energy. Scientists may use the emission spectra of material to determine the atoms or molecules contained within the material.

Energy isn't created or destroyed so the light wave that bounces off and the waves that arte absorbed by atoms have to do something. That something is to add energy to the atom (absorbed, the colors you don't see) or take energy out (emissions or emitted, the color you see). If you know the energy level of an element, when you shine a laser through it, you will be able to tell what element it is based on the combined energy of the element atom and the laser light, since energy cannot be destroyed. That's how spectroscopy is done I think. I'm not a scientist but I'm pretty sure that's how it works

This video is the most compact video out there, the 5 min lecture seems very easy but you need to watch it more than 10 times to understand it if you're a beginner. Teachers generally skip the introduction of prism , and shining light. Thank you for this amazing lecture ❤️

Beautiful job as usual, though on this particular crucially important learning milestone, it would be nice if you could "slow down", be more intricately descriptive, with slight pauses for (absorption) "pun intended". This is such an important step in understanding light, chemistry, physics, astronomy. It really needs to be driven home strongly. Thanks for trying to help us morons.

Hope your doing well out of highschool. I'm a freshman and I already completed my five hs credit classes last year and now im kinda taking a break but just I want to learn as much as I can and advance before I take more classes. I could be done for the year or take more so I don't have to much work next year. What do you think?
