People often hear voices in forests due to a phenomenon called "auditory pareidolia," where the brain interprets random background noises, like rustling leaves or wind, as familiar patterns like voices, often because it's actively searching for patterns in the surrounding sounds, making it particularly likely in quiet, secluded environments like a forest.

It's not just that but if you get are in a natural environment and all sound suddenly stops. You should evacuate immediately and be allert. It's a sign a predator could be near. And it ain't a human one. Most people don't really notice forests going quiet though. They often just suddenly feel uneasy and like they're being watched. People who listen to that gut feeling get out fairly okay, most times. Other times they don't, but people who ignore it in generally usually disappear. Or they get lucky and someone else gets picked off. Nature can be quite terrifying. Always listen to your gut feeling and common sense.

4:07 the Bobby Dunbar story is so much worse than that. He was found in the (temporary) custody of a man (William) whos family the boys biological mother (Julia) worked for. He had taken the boy for longer than he was supposed to though as he was only supposed to have him for 2 days, he had taken him for months. Despite confirmation from Julia when they contacted her, William was arrested for kidnapping and the Dunbars were bought to Mississippi to identify if he was their son. They couldn't tell if he was their son at first, and multiple witnesses claimed the boy never made any signs he recognised them, or even his brother, (though one paper claimed he recognised them immediately, there wasn't any actual witness statement to that fact). The next day Mrs Dunbar bathed him then claimed it was definitely him so they allowed the Dunbars to take him back to their home state where they had a whole parade and basically showered him with gifts. When Julia came to contest them, authorities had her try and pick him from a line-up of 5 (very similar) looking boys, she did point him out and ask if that was they boy they recovered (so clearly recognised him,) but their refusal to answer left her feeling unsure, as her son had also been missing for even longer than Bobby Dunbar. The next day when she was allowed to spend time with him and help him dress etc, she became absolutely certain it was her son, but because word got out that she couldn't identify him first time (like both the Dunbars couldn't) and because newspapers were slating her heavily at this point causing clear bias, her claims that it was her son where dismissed and she couldn't afford a drawn out legal battle. It didn't help that the whole town had basically claimed this kid and the courts where also clearly bias against her at this point. She later went back to try and help contest Williams kidnapping charge and push to prove the kid wasn't Bobby. Even though there were statements from multiple people in Mississippi who had seen this boy with William even before the disappearance of Bobby Dunbar, the second attempt to prove he wasn't Bobby and contesting the kidnapping charge associated with that was dismissed again. William would serve 2 years imprisonment for the apparent kidnapping of Bobby Dunbar, and Julia would lose her son forever, with absolutely no closure.

1:51:26 Fun fact: sometimes when you see a shark covered in scars somewhat like this, they are most likely female, because rarely males will quite literally bite down and latch on to the females while mating/attempting to mate (as was discussed in a study I was reading about this, they focused primarily on gill and body bites for their research, partially because these seemed to be common areas where mating bites occurred, and were more likely to be from mating events vs external factors, like injuries during hunting or run-ins with other predators; the research was focused on determining if these scars stem from forced copulation, since these mating scars don't actually appear all that much during breeding season, so it's evident that they are not part of normal mating efforts) Now, with this shark specifically, these scars are most likely from a boating accident. But, if you ever spy a shark while out on a boat, and you're not going to get a good angle to see if they have claspers or not, the mating scars could help you indicate whether the shark is male or female

In conclusion: there's an uncomfortable amount of animals that either coincidentally or deliberately can mimic humans. (The ravens and cats are in the "deliberately mimic human sounds" category btw, enjoy knowing an omen of death and an animal rumored to steal the breath of humans like a sleep paralysis demon both are skilled in human mimicry.)

15:02 being a former nurse in nursing homes, I’ve seen people die from #2&3. Basically if you have a patient with moderate to severe dementia or Alzheimer’s, they need monitoring pretty much constantly to make sure they’re not trying to climb over the rails or slide out beside them, get stuck because of age, weaknesses and, well, Alzheimer’s. I had to watch a bunch of EMS and nurses try to do cpr on a patient that had their head stuck at the end of the bed rail between it and the mattress. They tried to slide out at the top of the rail closer to the head of the bed, tried to slide down and got their head wedged. They had dangled there for minutes before found. Their butt was just an in or so from the ground, and were completely blue. They did not survive. Turns out this patient was suppose to have a specialized mattress that was supposed to be on the floor so that if they wanted to get out of bed they could just crawl out. They had fallen several times at home and had broken both hips, ribs, wrists, etc, hence the mattress to be on the floor. The order for the special accommodations were in their chart and was missed by the admissions team. So yeah that nursing got sued!!!

Some big cats are capable of vocal mimicry for example tigers imitate the sound of cows, deer, boar, bears and even allegedly people they obviously don’t know what they are saying but they know that it sometimes makes food show up. Possibly the Amazonian example could be jaguars though there isn’t any documentation of them doing this that I know of however jaguars are tragically poorly studied and are one of the most elusive land animals alive so it is possible that they do demonstrate this behavior and simply haven’t been observed doing so. If that is the case then maybe it’s not a dangerous as it sounds as only 5 people have been killed by jaguars since the fall of the Aztec Empire and 4 of those were wounded by a human and acting in self defense.

32:25 This is either an AI photo or someone decided to paint it in their own style. The original is a picture of a hospital in the 1940s, and it shows nurses carrying babies out of the hospital in infant gas mask suits during a practice drill so they can figure out the best way to evacuate them in the case of an emergency. I highly doubt that this "painting" was by a psychiatric patient (if they did, they somehow saw the photo and recreated it) considering the post doesn't have where it's from or even a date of when it was made, and especially since the "painting" is too accurate to the original photo is hard to believe. Worry not though, it was removed (had to cut very close to his brain as well i think. Scary shit indeed) and he made it out alive. After that, we hung out a little bit. Then less and less. A lot of animals make sounds we think of as voices. Very common one at night is foxes often sound like women screaming bloody murder. Coyotes can sound like people/kids laughing or hurt. The whole hearing your name get called is a very common thing and often is a small form of PTSD. As said here you thought you were in trouble, your brain has connected a time or feeling with trouble coming shortly after, so you hear the sound even thou it never happened. I have this a lot and have to look around to see who called my name. For my brothers and I the sound of a work vehicle beeping while backing up sent us instantly into a panic as our mother would unleash hell on all of us if only one of us hadn't finished our chore to her standard, which it never was to how she wanted.
@junrobin933510 күн бұрын
I mean it's also due to pattern recognition. Not really just ptsd or trauma. Or brain is hotwired to recognize patterns but it's not always gonna accurately make connections. It's why we see faces in so many things or why you hear your name in the wind. It doesn't need to even sound close to it at all for you to still make the connection. However if you start hearing that stuff check your surroundings and see if you can still hear all other wild life you heard at the start of your trip. Your sense of pattern recognition gets used more if your environment suddenly changes and it can be a sign of a predator being following you on your hike.

I got up grabbed my pew pew and start looking out my windows.... thinking I was going to have to go outside and save a woman's life. I go to all the windows n look out and I see nothing. So I went to my bedroom window to look out. (Window is next to the bed) My SO woke up to me leaning rather close to him looking out the window with moon light reflecting off the pew pew... He obviously was startled probably wondering if this was that moment i had threatened him with...(THAT'S A JOKE BTW FOR THOSE WHO DK SARCASM!!!!) He asked what I was doing, I told him I heard a woman screaming for her life. He didnt believe me...until he heard it. He jumped up out of bed grabbing his pew pew and he went around to a few windows and I told him I already did that n couldn't see anything. We're still hearing the screams so we went outside to investigate. Then we seen what was making that noise.. A couple of foxes ran theu our yard. Apparently a female fox in heat spunds like a woman being off'd in horrific fashion... Sooo... yeah... We went back inside.. put pew pews back in the safe and he went back to bed. Lol Interesting night to say the least. But hey it was a National Geographic learning moment. 😂😂

electroshock therapy is still in use today just better regulated and with more care. It can be used to stimulate muscles or resetting the brain to stabilize your mood. 1:29:55 it's apparently in regards to robberies being more likely at night. Basically these doors are usually the back doors and they face areas that people don't often go through, so they're very dangerous at night.

10:07 I mean, to be fair about the wet linen thing, I can definitely see that actually being calming for some neurodivergents like myself. I mean think about it for a moment: You're being wrapped up and bound tightly in soft, plush fabric that has been soaked in water, and your eyes are completely covered up to prevent visual stimulation. That definitely sounds like a prototype sensory deprivation chamber to me, and some neurodivergents absolutely adore being compressed with weight, which would definitely be amplified to almost feeling like your back in the womb by all the water absorbed by the linen. Source: Neurodivergent Me, who has those exact tendencies. Additionally, about the aquarium case that appears right after that post, I have more info on what happened, and I can confirm that no-one died as the result of the breach. In fact, only one person was actually injured during the incident, but that was only because they were the only one around when it happened. Unfortunately, the resulting investigation was unable to conclusively confirm exactly what caused the tank to shatter, but they WERE able to confirm that whatever the reason was, it was definitely the result of a mistake occuring during construction or maintenance of the tank that weakened it's overall integrity, which compounded until it's eventually shattering.

That coyote bit reminded me of an encounter I once had in my own backyard. Florida. Middle of Hurricane Season. I go outside to call in my cat, Havoc, as there was a sudden massive downpour (it was pleasant and sunny a couple of minutes ago). I can't get this cat to listen to me; he's sitting in the rain and watching the trees. Then I hear what I can only describe as the mewing of a kitten. Havoc takes off in an instant, bounding across the backyards of my neighbors' and my place, and I go running after him. Then the mewing is coming from behind us. I'm simultaneously chasing my cat and trying to find this kitten in the middle of a rainstorm. Suddenly, I see a bird fly from a tree and over to another one, then I hear the mewing come from the tree it just flew to. It was a mockingbird.

9:04 fun fact, nobody ever lived there. It's a market. Developers seeks naive rich to invest into it, and build piss pour quality buildings made from 90% dirt and 10% cement with 30% iron "rebar" that are created in the middle of nowhere. There are hundreds of such "towns", and not even homeless are brave enough to live in those buildings.

1:28 When my dad was younger, it was storming in his neighborhood and they saw a massive flash and a loud boom. After the storm, they went to go check and see if the neighbors were okay and his neighbor said it was ball lightning and they looked at his house and the ball lightning hit his house and literally knocked it off its foundation

Sorry I know I have commented a few times already and refrained from commenting more but @ 59:15 If I found Falkor I'd 100% have to pretend I'm Bastian's sis that took Falkor for a spin around the world. I mean...c'mon, who would want to take a ride on a Luck Dragon?? I had a friend who had a dog that looked like Falkor. The white fur, the long body, short legs, pink nose..etc.. it was a weiner dog mix. His name was Chewy. I was baffled. THEY MISSED THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO NAME HIM FALKOR!!! It kind of upset me. Lol She said had she been thinking of it she would have named him that. She said she named him Chewy because he chewed on everything. Only thing I could say to her in response was, "Im so thankful not everyone names their pup after what they do as pups." If they did then... EVERY DOG IN EXISTENCE WOULD BE NAMED CHEWY. THAT'S WHAT THEY DO, THEY CHEW ON EVERYTHING! Sometimes I wonder how ppl make it thru life. 😂
