About elevators - G stands for Ground Level, then 1st floor in one above ground level. It's quite normal for me, and I always get confused when I see people say 1st floor and it's actually ground level.

Something that always mildly infuriates me is when people think the icecream is uneven just because they see the top layer. 80% of those types of icecreams don't have their sections going straight down. They curve around and a small layer will go on top of another layer, hiding the other flavor.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the side labels on the lift panel were put there for American tourists. In the UK and other countries G is the ground floor, above that is 1st storey, then, 2nd, etc. In the US, the ground level is floor 1 and G means garage level. Americans might get confused by European lift controls if not given additional labels.

If the owner of the lift gets a lot of American tourists and they're getting confused a lot by unfamiliar labeling, it's a pretty small accommodation to keep their business running more smoothly.

The elevator one in the thumbnail isn't crappy design. It's a combination of two different "translations" of floors. In some countries the ground floor is know as the 1st floor, and the floor above ground is 1st floor which would be called 2nd, and the 2nd floor would be the 3rd etc.

actually in 8:05 many elevators work like that. theres probably a second one that also does 1, 2, 3 and then 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. i think its for efficiency, so people who go to a certain floor dont have to stop in all the floors. ive seen it only in taller buildings tho

I have dysatunomia, and the mask is great as long as I have one with a fan. I kept telling people to just use one like that, but nearly a year later even with the fan I can get faint. If I remember correctly, the elevator button that Robin is referring to at 3:59 is that way in order to indicate where the fire escape is. It’s some sort of fire code. The crappy design in that image is actually that the 19th floor button is between the buttons for the 1st and 2nd floors.
