They’re still so young and such fantastic players, and clearly we’ll be watching these two for years to come. I hope so. But too early to say. There real expectation now especially Emma now she won and the British media. I'm biased but I'd say Emma looks to have the temperament. And Fernandez could be a top player too because the way she fights.
@birdisaword42033 жыл бұрын
In the old days a scrape would've been towelled off immediately while a ballboy ran for a bandaid, gave it to the player and play continued. You could see how Emma hesitated when the umpire told her to come to the chair; she knew this was unnecessarily interrupting play and an over-reaction. I am not calling out Emma - the tennis system is itself to blame, and everyone watching could sympathize with Layla's frustration as her momentum evaporated. Scrapes are a part of the game, which is why every player always has a couple of bandaids handy in case they're needed. A bandaid timeout should not have devolved into an injury or medical timeout as it did, but the stars were not aligned for Leyla today, especially given her tougher matches due to the luck of the draw. The fairytale came true for both girls at the USOpen: they beat the whole women's tour into a pulp of despondent serving-queens.

Emma on the 6 minute unnecessary toilet break too sat composed herself had a drink and something to eat. And waited without saying a word. And you say the star where against Fernandez. But Emma win was nothing to do with luck or burn out. 10 wins without even been taken to a tie break.. @@leemurray7240 in sports an abrupt stop on the game changes everything either you gain momentum or you lose it especially if you are trying to regain composure, that 6 minutes timeout changes the mood in the world of sports those times changes the momentum also a game changer for the opponents to recuperate and bounce back. Nonetheless the complain of leyla is understandable and as we an audience should understand that, have you seen the game for mens finals like how djokovic slams the racket out of frustration, now can you tell that to a guy who has been winning for so long and now looking at him as immature? NO this is a sport the emotion and drama are part of it, even grunts are used for distracting the opponents and I am so happy that these girls are not grunting at all they show all skills not need to scream or grunt. In the main draw she really didn’t face many top players. Top players make you have to work way harder. Fernandez beat the best hard court player in the world. She beat people who have been #1 and won Majors. I’d rather have been in Radecanu’s shoes than Fernandez’s. She probably worked harder to win her 6 matches than Radecanu did to win her 10.

From the outside that MTO looks sketchy but a bleeding leg has to be taken care of for sanitation sake

Leylah would have been better off sitting down, focusing on the match, and taking some refreshment. Great seeing the match from this angle.

I thought Leylah would have a better match against Emma. Perhaps she was impacted by the many tough 3 set matches on the road to the finals.
@robharris8844U3 жыл бұрын
She did not have to play the qualifiers Emma had to to get to the final - 10 rounds - yes Leylah played some good players but for stamina Emma showed it all and to beat Leylah in final toboot! It was history making by Emma's route which may never ever be matched- to not lose a single round!.🎾🇬🇧
@malpete3 жыл бұрын
No if u watched all of these two ladies matches you will know Emma is the real deal , not saying leyla is not but Emma maybe thought I beat her before so maybe I can beat you again , the best girl won on the day
@robharris8844U3 жыл бұрын
@@malpete Well that bit of confidence due to a win can take a good way when the match is going against you. The few times Leylah put pressure on, Emma responded in front of a hostile stadium siding with a North American! I think Emma is slightly more mature in character than Leylah too at this point which made a difference. Leylah will improve though in the near future, so Emma will still have to raise her game.🇬🇧🎾

This is a terrible video. To call it 'highlights' is BS. It is mainly about unforced errors by both players, not winners. I gave up at 7.00.

Yeah, the creator of the video obviously a Fernandez fan, but even if that's the case was still patchy.

Emma is amazing especially in the face of a Fernandez favoring crowd. BTW is this the best video that the US Open could provide? A Fixed camera shot throughout. Give me a F------ break already.

You forgot to put Emma was a set and 2 games up before the medical TO, Leylah was no way in a winning position at the point of the TO, maybe close to a break back, but even then it would’ve taken her to win another 3 games to win the set… so there was little advantage- if you can even call it that because I imagine having a bandaged leg whilst you’re running across the court is fun or easy - gained by Raducanu from the TO.. Leylah ruined her own momentum by crying during the TO, she upset herself more than needed. On the day, the better player won. Fernandez is an incredible competitor and her time will come.
@aaliyahm71403 жыл бұрын
@@grantmalone the thing is, they’re all what ifs… and it could have easily gone the other way given how many times in the match the games were 40/0 or 40/15 and they ended up being won by either of the girls on advantage points… it interrupted Leylah’s flow, sure but that medical TO didn’t lose her or cost her the match, contrary to what a lot of people have said.
