I just love emma's reaction after she won the match as she seemed so surprised and it was such an enchanting moment that was so engaging and just puts in perspective even how well she played was just so much in the moment and totally zoned in on her tennis craft.

This match maybe demonstrates more than any other just how well emma served in the whole tournament and her first serve percentage in the 2nd set in this match was 96% which is off the charts.The wide serve in the deuce court was sublime and no player could read it and gave her so many points and put her straight away on the front foot in so many games,in some of her matches she was winning up to 11 games without reply and was in another world on what she was achieving.
@rmcode2 жыл бұрын
Yes, great to watch her with this level of skill, speed and confidence. So sad how the various coaches she's had since have tried to change her game and have made her a much lesser player. Such a mistake to dump the coach she had then. He clearly understood her game and how to enhance it.

And, she only lost 5, that's 5, service games all the way up to and including the semi-final.

@@rmcode Yes,Andrew Richardson worked with Emma for 2 years when she was a junior from 11 year old and knew her game very well.I do not think it was a case of him being changed as much to say he was appointed by the LTA to accompany Emma on the us trip because Nigel Sears was unable to travel.Richardson was never prepared to travel full time on tour as he has a young family and also a tennis academy where his son trains and also had other commitments involving tennis which were all a factor in not becoming emma's full time coach.
@rmcode Жыл бұрын
@@garyh4427 Simon Briggs in his excellent book states that Richardson was keen to carry on as coach. Even if he was unable to travel in the long term it would made sense to continue to the end of the season to build on the momentum of the US Open. Instead she went to a few more tournaments clearly unprepared and undertrained and suffered a string of confidence sapping defeats to minor players.
@garyh4427 Жыл бұрын
@@rmcode I Think she wanted a more permanent stance long term with a coach,Anne Keothavong who knows them both very well stated that it was a mutual parting after a discussion after the us-open.I would have loved for Richardson to have stayed and who knows what else Emma might of achieved under his coaching,he coached her when she was a junior for about 2 years and knew her game and importantly as a person very well.

I think this match was the best emma served out of all her matches in the us open-the wide serve just took rogers out of the match and she just had no answer to it.

Emma was no.1, but now she's in terrible situation. She literally fired 5 or 6 coaches which made her worse, she needs to think about high potential on reaching crucial rounds like quarter, semi and final again.
