Emma Thompson was 'humiliated' by Kenneth Branagh's affair with Helena Bonham Carter

Emma Thompson has admitted she was 'utterly blind' to her ex-husband Kenneth Branagh 's affair with Helena Bonham Carter and said she felt 'unlovable' after finding out. The actress, 63, married Kenneth, 61, back in 1989 just two years after they met, but his affair with Helena ended their six-year marriage in 1995. Helena, now 56, is believed to have started an affair with Kenneth in 1994 while she played his love interest in his version of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. They went on to have a five-year relationship.

I adored Emma Thompson through most of the 80's and 90's. Then I saw an interview with her. She was crass, profane, and glib. She's a great actress. I do not feel any sympathy for her.

You absolutely nailed it. Her arrogance and ability to hide it so exquisitely undersores her talent as an actress, but utterly tonedeaf as a human being. [As an aside, adding to my own skin-crawling rection to her interiews, she's an absolute definition of a champaigne liberal. ] I applaude your use of "glib". An edgy, crass woman. [As a woman, I must underscore my admiration of your unvarnished descriptions]. B's actions were inexcusable, but Emma's a piece of work. Not a complement. She is also definition of her class/ilk/category who are deeply convined of her tolerance, open-mindedness to opposing views or other "gnat-like" (in her superior eyes) mumblings of the "ignorants". She couldn't be more "off".
