A lot of people who would usually strictly buy authentic say they’re starting to get into reps because LV quality is starting to get worse but the prices are continuing to increase. I seen someone do a comparison on a rep and auth NF bought and used for the same amount of time and the auth was wrinkling more than the rep.

Hey I bought a speedy 25 in store and 6 months later I was watching your video and panicked because you said about the symmetry at both sides of the zip. Mines isn’t completely symmetrical I went back to Louis Vuitton and they sent it to France for it to be checked as I wasn’t happy at all. The head of quality control sent me a letter to say that there’s nothing wrong with my bag, it’s a hand stitched piece and it doesn’t necessarily have to completely match x x

Even my SA told me it’s normal nowadays and recommended me to rub the zipper with a white candle, it’s definitely better now. Still not as smooth as a vintage Cabas Mezzo I own though. Great video! I too am an LV collector, and like yourself, I love the quality, pristine detail, and long term wearability. My first messenger was purchased in 2003, the Bosphore PM and it's still going strong in 2019 and looking beautiful. I have probably some 25 pieces in my collection from messenger bags both canvas and leather, wallets, belts etc. Your very knowledgeable and have such screen presence and just delightful to watch. As a Singaporean born and bred, I appreciate your efforts to investigate Aupen's true manufacturing origins. While I can't be 100% sure, I'm fairly certain that their bags are not made in Singapore. Your research is correct: the standard of living here is high, and it's difficult to produce and sell leather bags at this price. If you look at *unidups* (a popular local leather brand), their bags are priced similarly - and are made in a factory in Guangzhou, China, as shown in their product listing.

Thank you for the great tips. And what a relaxed view on counterfits, I do like that. But at the same time, fakes don't come from nowhere. I kind of wish people made decisions from a more informed point of view I guess, that giving money to fake business might mean you give money to illegal business that do more illegal stuff than simply bags. I'd hate to think any of my consumer money ending up supporting trafficking etc. Of course, it's almost impossible to make sure you're an ethical consumer, but we can try. And of course people might not be able to afford the big brands (like me, hey), and not wanting to get a decent quality non-brand bag etc. But I think people should get fake things knowing in the back of their minds what kind of businesses they might be supporting, at least.

My Neverfull Damier Ebene does not have great symmetry on the sides in terms of the pattern matching up on the seam. I didn’t notice it when I bought it from the LV store and now I wonder if people will think it’s a fake, especially if I ever sell it.

i purchased a fake LV from ebay with real packaging one year for Christmas. It was the patent leather candy apple red Alma MM (or the largest size). It was sold out everywhere and my girlfriend at the time really wanted it. I didn't know anything about handbags and I saw it on ebay with the brown packaging as I already had belts, travel case etc during that time and all had the thick brown case. I actually spend $300+ more than the price just to get the exclusive bag/color combo.

I have just watched another person authenticating a bag and she says they have 5 stitches across the handle area, where you show 4 and they almost the same style, which is correct? The code, does it refer to weeks and year or months and year both can not be right? I've seen both being referred to in various videos.

I dunno, I really love my Ainifeel Garden Party knockoffs from Amazon. I have 5 and just don't think the price Hermés charges for an authentic Garden Party is worth it to ME. I use my fakes for everyday and save my Birkin 35 for special outings when I don't want to be seen with a fake. No one at the grocery store knows a Garden party from a grocery sack.....which btw, I actually have carried as my purse, back in the day. At some events I attend everyone has authentic designer bags.....so naturally a Birkin trumps all other bags in the room. I know.....so shallow of me. :)

Emma did you know that the canvas on LV bags are made of cheap vinyl thats coated with pvc.

On the canvas, the canvas feels thinner and has a popping sound when you touch it on the real bags. The fake ones have thicker canvas that feels heavy plastic. You will know by the feel of the canvas.

I don’t agree totally n never purchased a replica but these fashion houses make it impossible for those who spend 5K - 10K plus & even buy a bag without waiting for item because it’s sold out n frankly after buying originals for 30 plus years - the quality of originals have suffered n don’t look at good. After spending 6500 on an original I feel robbed as my earlier originals were made much better - so don’t feel bad if you end up with one ...! The designer houses have to up their quality if they are charging those big bucks..! My earlier bags from 1980 to 1999 are made absolutely with the utmost quality..! Thx

Fabulous video... I figured - id have heard everything you've said. However you really taught me things idk and I own several of these bags..😂😂😂😂 Everything you said about the semitry idk and found it soo fascinating. I knew in the 80s? They redid the monogram and made the 1 line always end on the same. However idk the diagnol thing would end on same.😍 But, I noticed my bags all line up exatly like you mentioned even on the zipper like you also mentioned. Idk any of this info..lol Great video. Very informative. I think lv bags are soo addictive. The leather is soo amazing and 1 of a kind. Ive never purchased one brand new bag though.😕 (someday😉) Id love to own a brand new one cos I buy off preloved for better deals. Sumday I will buy a brand new one and make my own petina on it. I have a speedy 25 from the 80s made in the untied states and they are not made the same. I only mention it bc I was not sure if you were aware. Mine has a split in the bottom and all lvs are right side up

Got my first LV Doctors bag in 77. A graduation from HS gift. I had a very indulgent godmother. I started college that Fall & there were two very cosmopolitan sisters who had lived in Europe. Their dad was in oil/geology. Right away they told me the fakes out there were too good to spend money on the real thing. Fakes? I didn’t even know there were such beasts.
