really good info. thanks. another idea is to take a really good quality photo of the pastels still in the box with the labels visible to use as a reference later. I agree that beginner sets contain too many saturated colors with very few shades or tints. one wonders who exactly they are making them for.

I’m buying and testing different brands as I evolve as an artist. Soft pastels are such exquisitely beautiful things. Thanks Emma for your help 🙏🏻

I love the colours in the Artists soft, they are so vibrant, just so beautiful. How is it with mixing different brands at the same time for other colours?

The animal set is a wonderful set. I love it, and I did add greens. It's perfect, thank you Emma! I love the Prym click boxes - I have a bunch of them and they pack up great even for travel!

Emma! Such a wonderful video! Simple concise and to the point and so easy to understand even I can get it! Thank you for continuing to show all of us how to make pastels easier to understand and use. I just cannot say this enough : Thank you !

The answer is, "All of them." I've spent years convincing my wife that since pastels are dry and don't mix like paint, that I need one of each color. Don't mess this up! ;)

Hahaha! Don't show her this video then...instead show her my recent Henri Roché unboxing video and tell her she's lucky you're not into them ;-)

Hello Ms. Emma. Mam I would like to know that A Fixative is necessary to use after completing soft pastel art?? Waiting for this video also..
@EmmaColbertArt3 жыл бұрын
Fixative is not necessary, I never use it. It darkens colours. If you're using a proper pastel paper it will hold the pigment. Either frame the work behind glass to preserve for life, or if storing it, keep it covered over between sheets of paper or glassine.

Can you use pastels on canvas?
@Kyomiibrown3 жыл бұрын
If you cover the canvas with a pastel ground such as Golden pastel ground, then yes, you can.
