@Carol Ann Pinkerton it's not controlling. If God were controlling, He would give up no choice but to choose Him. He gives us free will. I don't think that's controlling. I think religion is so often thought of as something that is supposed to make people feel guilty, but it offers redemption from that guilt. It doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, if you go to Jesus He offers forgiveness, eternal life, freedom, and fulfillment. Where do you get your hope from?

I found your Instagram while I was in high school years ago (currently 20!). I think it was around 2015-2016. I saw hate going around about a "crazy religious girl", but, being an on-and-off believer myself, I found your passion and excitement inspiring. I was amazed that Jesus could make someone so happy! I was honestly jealous...it made me want to pursue God to find that joy, as well. Since then, I've gone through a lot of phases of atheism, agnostic, spiritual, and back to Christian, recently. I am so glad u posted this. I dealt with an eating disorder, pretty much anorexia, due to being looked at bad, bullied, talked about, ex. I did need to lose weight health wise, but not like that or near that much. This all happened after I was saved also. Finally, a few months ago I told God to take this away from me, and to help me see myself how He sees me. After that, I have still messed up a few times, but now He has delivered me fully!! And I am still, and always have since I’ve been saved, been bullied for being a Christian. I remember that being persecuted for being a Christian, first what Jesus went through, then that I will be rewarded. I then bless the other person, and ask God to help me forgive them and for Him to forgive. I recently broke it off with my boyfriend because he said that I was overreacting about the rapture and being ready to go to Heaven (that wasn’t the only reason but a huge one). I am hurt so often, but it is so worth it in the end to stand face to face with my Savior that died on a cross and rose from me!! 😁

I was just reading the first chapter of a book called “It’s not supposed to be this way” By Lysa T and it was talking about perfection and disappointments in your own plan for your life. It talked about how striving after this perfection brings you away from the Lord by doubting in Him and in His plan it allows the devil to widen that gap and crush you. I needed to hear your message today seeing as God directed me to a book that has been collecting dust on my shelf and placing your wonderful soul on my KZbin feed! Hey Emma, let me just start by saying that God loves you too! I recently watched the testimony of a 25-year-old who went to Heaven and Hell and back to earth, it was so awakening! My favorite quote from the video is "tomorrow is not promised, even the next second is not promised, so what can I do to glorify God now?" I know there are different views about Christianity and personality tests but I wanted to share that as an enneagram 2 with a wing 1, my thing I struggle with is striving to be perfect (wing 1) so others will love me (type 2).
