For anyone reading this comment in the future, if you’re watching from a smart phone, notice the three dots and tap on it and you can generate CC (closed captions) English-generated, and it will generate what it thinks it hears as best as it can when original captions are not provided.

Emma: you only use the "glide" for doubled vowels, Fs, and Ls. For the M in your name - also for N and T - you would tap your first fingers twice instead of once. For other consonants (like R for example) you repeat the letter by "bouncing" your hand a little. When you fingerspell, try to move smoothly from one letter to the next, without moving your hand or wrist any more than is necessary. Don't overemphasize each letter by "punching" it - just let it all blend together.

@@ladymomo3333 You're right, she did it right. Although she could have tilted her hand a bit more. I grew up with 2 deaf grandparents who I frequented very often w/ all their friends there, and any sane deaf person will use common sense and watch what is being signed and will even watch the person's mouth and veiw the body language as well. Obviously she wasn't signing Kokky. As long as the middle finger is pointing straight down it is considered "P" unless they are mouthing "k" and spelling something with a "K". Ppl that haven't spent enough time around the deaf, wouldn't understand this! The Zed thing did mess w/ me! For real! It's "Z", what the f**k, man! Lmao

This is so misleading. I am Deaf and a lot of what she said is incorrect. Deaf people and Hearing people both say Hello and Goodbye the exact same way....practically all over the world. And the fact that she's "teaching" those signs without respect to the Deaf community by putting in subtitle shows me how short sighted she is. Our Sign Language is not just a fad to learn, it's an actual rich thriving culture and she doesn't give that due respect in the video above.

OldeFreedom, some of us just need a little bit of sign language to help communicate with a deaf coworker, friend, or family. I’m not looking to learn the whole language from a YT video. I just wanted enough to tell her when I’m leaving, when I get there, and how her day was.

I’m not Deaf, but I’m trying to learn sign language and I agree with you. She also did P and E wrong P is supposed to be Upside down not right side up. I’m the letter E there is supposed to be a space. I don’t know why she is trying to teach sign language when she needs to learn it herself.
