The Marvel world is a bit weird. Heroes like the Avengers, who've gained powers from unnatural ways (accident, technology, science experiment) are celebrated by the public. But Mutants, who've gained their abilities naturally (through their genes), are hated by humans.
@corvus1970
@corvus1970 17 күн бұрын
Yup. In the comics, people who have gained their powers through "unnatural" means are often called "mutates," and you are correct: They tend to have broad acceptance, like Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and so on. Some others, however, like Hulk and, to a lesser degree, Spider-Man, tend to be feared or distrusted.

First off: "France is gonna be really mad to see that Wolverine messed up their present to us." Oh the laugh I just laughed. That was _really_ good. Thank you for that one. "This dude looks like a personified wolf." Despite a significant size advantage, a _lone_ Wolf will tend to shy away from a Wolverine. Wolverines are Mustelids, relatives of Badgers, Skunks, Minks, etc. They are extremely powerful for their size, and ferocious. They can kill prey many times their size, and far larger predators will at times decide that messing with a Wolverine's kill isn't worth the risk.

34:45 you may have missed it but Mystic sabotaged Cerebro. Jean Grey found the alteration, removed the "toxic" addition to Cerebro. That is why she was not injured like Charles was. He was affected by the sabotaged equipment. 36:10 in the comics Wolverine is in YELLOW SPANDEX. So that was a poke at the comics. You can also see it in the older X-Men cartoons. Watch these in RELEASE order as you are. Starting with X3 look for post credit scenes.

They don't exactly spell it out in the movie, but Wolverine is dying after giving Rogue his powers, because his healing factor works almost immediately on small injuries, but larger injuries it kinda just holds him together, to stop bleeding, etc, and they take longer to fully heal. When he gives her his power he kinda falls apart from all the wounds Sabertooth gave him. Also he knew going in that this could happen, he can probably still feel them all healing.

The trilogy is a good call Emme. It's not the best interpretation of the comics but I think myself and a lot of people have been unfairly tough on them. Cinepals recently did new reactions on the X-Men movies and it's been nice to see their enthusiasm and takes on it. I've seen a bunch of reactors go in fully blind on X-Men 97 and they get by just fine. The show is self referential, but it also explains whatever it needs to. The original was made in 1992 but it was an adaptation for kids, influenced by network standards of censorship and guidelines. Honestly there was so much going on in the old show that it was a lot to wrap my head around. It was full of unusual things. It was a lot of content too. There was also a 1994 Spider-Man series that I liked even more! It crossed over with the X-Men series at one point. That pilot episode and many after had me going ballistic with enthusiasm and hype. I mostly read Spider-Man comics as a kid and it was like a dream seeing it adapted in a mostly faithful way. I had a hard time deciding which was better. For me I had to have both. They helped build my love for Marvel.

Hi, huge comic book nerd here. This question almost always comes up when someone reacts to this movie. Magneto controls metal by creating and manipulating magnetic fields. He''s able to "fly" by creating a magnetic field around his body which repels the magnetic field of the earth thus pushing him off the ground. Then by manipulating that magnetic field in exactly the right way he is able to push himself through the air in whatever directing he chooses. It's the same basic concept of how mag lev trains work except the character of Magneto along with many of the other X-Men, was created in 1963 by Stan "The Man" Lee which makes it much more impressive than it sounds since this technology hadn't been invented yet......OH! and Cyclops powers aren't lasers although that is a common belief even among comic fans. In the early issues of Uncanny X-Men it's explained that what Cyclops has is a force beam. It is a beam of energy that applies tremendous physical force to whatever it hits. So tearing a hole in the roof for example, was more like hitting it with a physical object like a wrecking ball.

Magneto is one of my favorite villains, b/c from his point of view, he's a survivor of one holocaust, fighting to prevent a SECOND (mutant) holocaust. You cant blame him. If **I** survived a concentration camp, I might build an army and start a war before I let them they put me back in another one. Also, Magneto's war of human vs mutant may actually happen, in which case, he and Charles will be ALLIES and generals, so it's in their best interest to keep each other alive, if that happens. My favorite interaction in the movie is the police standoff between the two leaders "Why dont you come out where I can see you, Charles. Let them pass that law, and you'll be in a cage with number burned into your forhead." "It wont be that way, Eric." "Then why dont you kill me. And find out." "Hnerhh. Afraid to make sacrifices, Charles. That's what makes you weak." And by "sacrifice" Magneto means sacrificing HIMSELF. That's committment to a cause. He's right. And he's wrong.

@@sithlordkaeyl21 You said he hid his tags because of the memories, as if they were painful or he didn't want to discuss them. He hid them because he didn't remember where they came from. He hid them because he couldn't explain them. It had nothing to do with not wanting to discuss those memories. Between the damage, his memories being messed with, and false memories being implanted; he does NOT have all his memories about the wars he fought in or where the tags come from. He can be helped from outside sources as catalysts like we can recover corrupted files. The corrupted bits are not recoverable, they are replaced with a copy or extrapolated during recovery from probable options. Or like if we delete a file extension, we can still read it through random trial and error of trying to open the file with different programs, but it will not open itself by just clicking as without a file extension the computer has no idea what program to have open it. Logan's memories are fragmented and unconnected and need catalysts to give them context to understand them. In the comics, he only gets them all back when Wanda defies reality itself.

Welcome to the X-Men. I’d been reading the X-Men comics for nearly 20 years when this movie came out, and it was so exciting to see these characters brought to the big screen so well. Although they rearranged the characters’ backstories to make them fit into one story (eg Bobby was one of the original X-Men, and Rogue had started off as a supervillain) it all came together very well. The scene at the end where a badly wounded Logan chooses to give his healing factor to save Rogue’s life was taken straight from the comics, and it really made me happy to see. Anywho, glad you liked the movie as well. Thanks for sharing your reaction 😊. If you choose to watch more of these, you’ll find that the quality can vary a lot, from excellent to sufficiently entertaining to … well … I personally was disappointed. Also, they’re a lot less concerned with maintaining a cohesive narrative than the Marvel movies. Characters who died in one movie might be alive in the next with no explanation given, for example. Best not to think about it too much..

FYI I love that the writer and director of The X-men movies is a bisexual man because Stan Lee was very clear on multiple occasions that X-men is meant to be a metaphor for social justice for LGBT+ and other sexual minorities and yes racial minorities to a degree but the metaphor based on how the X-gene works is much more obviously applicable to LGBT+ people. And yes wolverine was worried about rogue as a young girl because in the Novel-Version of the first X-men movie Rogue was being held by 3 truckers not just one and yes they had evil lewd intentions toward her but Wolverine saved her. I figure this does not count as spoilers it only relates to Novel-Version of the first film.

Sorry about the multiple posts, but Wolverine/The X-Men have been my favorites since I started reading comics back in the early 80’s, and I get really excited (overly excited is more like it), when they come up as a topic.

X-Men '97 picks up after the original X-Men Animated series, basically it's a new season. So you would still need to watch the original animated series before watching '97.

5:40 "I could see this happening in real life" Ironic of you to say considering this movie is over 2 decades old, the cartoon is close to 30 years old, and the comics have been talking about the same things for over half a century. You're really going to LOVE this whole side of Marvel and I'm so here for it.

That actor who plays Toad, you've seen him before! He played Darth Maul from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Oh boy you're in for a wild ride with this franchise/series; I hope you see the others in the future.

If you're watching X-Men movies for the sake of having context for Marvel movies, you should also watch the two Deadpool movies. They're... different. But they will be essential to a certain future Marvel release. Also! Stan Lee cameo at 24:11. The hot dog vendor

Emme is already hampered with her lack of facial recognition. Adding Mystique to the mix will mess with her reality.

You should definitely check out all the X-men films, the later ones drop in quality but Days Of Future past and First class are two of the best X-men movies imo, as well as Logan.

Emme it’s good you have a foundation of superhero knowledge. This addition of mutation seen through those eyes will certainly help. Still, the innocence you have while watching is pretty cool. Always a pleasure to hangout with you. ✌️😉💕

A "Wolverine", is not a wolf. It is a very small creature about the size of a beaver. Yet, they are Fearless. And have been known to kill wolves, and attack bears. And humans.

Nice more marvel content... And you're finally watching X-Men how exciting personally the X-Men cartoon and the spider man from the 90's was my first introduction to marvel so it's awesome to see them finally becoming part of the MCU... Anyway wanted to point out wolverine is a type of animal I believe one that is more similar to a banger than a Wolf

Everyone associates the name "Wolverine" with wolves ... a wolverine is a wolverine. They're related to honey badgers. Way more vicious than wolves, they'll fight for almost no reason. Also, they're quite small for such a vicious animal, so the comic book character is supposed to be 5'3 but then they cast Hugh Jackman who's way taller than that.

If you're planning on watching X-Men 97, I'd advise watching at least some of X-Men the Animated series, since the former is a revival of the latter and there are, naturally, references to events that had happened through the original run, I'm sure someone could probably put togeather a list of must watch episodes

I loved your reaction to this movie! I guess I take it for granted that someone your age has no knowledge of this franchise or anything related to the world of X-men, especially since this movie came out 24 years ago. It's actually quite refreshing to get to see your perspective.

The X-Men are awesome! So many amazing characters and storylines from what really is the other half of the Marvel universe. If you end up really loving these characters it's worth watching all their films, even though there are some not so good movies, to see the journey they go on. Also the more X-Men movies you watch the better it'll make X-Men 97 for you. However much you watch, I'm glad we got this!

fun little fact for you... remember a scene in wandavision when wanda came out of the HEX to say to the agents to f off? after they have sent a drone to eliminate her? when she controlled all the soldiers to make them point their guns at the boss guy? well it was interesting scene because it is quite similar to the scene here where magneto came out of the train station and turned their guns against them.. and it is interesting because wanda and pietro are magneto's kids...

Wolverine’s skeleton is laced with a fake metal called “adamantium”, which is nearly indestructible, and can cut through almost anything. He also has low-level super strength, low-level super speed, superhuman senses, and superhuman healing abilities.

So in some of the comic origins the troops who liberated Magneto fron the concentration camp was a joint task force lead by Captain America and Wolverine(Canadian special forces at the time) resulting in the two of them being the only heroes he really respects
