emmet cahill sings with such sweet emotion. i live north of the Irish bayou at the shores of the Pontchartrain so this melody and lyrics have special meaning to me. we are all "cajun" but the creole community is a dear blend that we love and appreciate. the french influence with creamy coco colored skin. So beautiful this is! Know it is 8 years since this was made.. even so.. Emmet is still just as beautiful and his voice as magnificant as it was then.. This is the setting where he really shines.. and the exquisite singing violin blends with the gentle guitar perfectly.. Emmet has a gift for singing ballads like this.. not only his awesome voice.. but his entire persona and facial expressions.. each movement he makes contributes to the poignant telling of the story.. and starts the tears falling.. So gifted Emmet is.. and remains so today.. every song he sings.. makes it his own he does.. and blessed are we who listen.. Had good luck to attend Paul Brady's solo concert few years ago. He finished with that song. It was such a moment of pure beauty - people applauded but we all knew there will be no encore - you simply could not play anything to top that song.
