I don't think we laid an egg verses PS. They are actually a good team and we played them tough. It felt like our play calling was too conservative - especially on first down.

Like cignetti did, we need to go after dudes that have proven themselves on the field, even if at a lower level. We have gone after too may high star initial recruits that haven't done anything really. Regarding Locke, I actually think he is a decent thrower, but lets be honest, unless you are an ELITE pocket passer, you need a running threat duel QB. I think its a combo of him bein ok and receivers not doing their job.

The PS game was not a blowout. Remember PS was only up by 1 entering the 4th and only because of a Locke int. The D made good plays. Finally everyone stop whining about “signature wins.” Just win.

Sure, if it improves the team. Look at what the new coach of Indiana did. He brought like 13 players with him from James Madison and added like another 10+ portal guys with them. Highly ranked kids out of high school that were unhappy with where they went first? No. Experienced players who enjoyed success on the field with real playing time where they were who could be plugged in and play with success at Indiana. That’s the key to the success IU is having this season. So, it would be smart to identify guys in the portal like that who UW has a need for to both start and build depth with.

I think people underestimate the difficulty of playing QB at this level, particularly in a system relying on him to read and audible often. Certainly could continue to improve, PSU is pretty good. Let's see what next week brings

1000% agree. This program has consistently overhyped Trech & Pauling. They are the passing game problem. Other than Anthony - the WR Room is the biggest problem on this team. Bigger problem than D Line!!!

We don't have the pieces. The biggest blame on Longo is not initially picking QBs. Evers, LaCrue, and Locke were/are busts.

@@robertniedziejko2767 Well, that's why we try to hire and OC that has a keen eye to identify talent. So far most of the Big Ten OC's have shown to have a much keener eye than Longo. We just have to hope Longo is better at picking HS kids than portal QBs.

Trech and Pauling are Locke's biggest passing game problem. Simple Passing Game Fix: 1. Run Clean Routes 2. Catch the darn ball when it hits you in the hands

@@CraigFissel Yes, the drops at the start of the game were huge. They definitely contributed to the loss. Locke also made some lousy throws in the first quarter too. I also blame the lack of willingness to throw more and keep Locke and the QBs in rhythm. Both USC and Penn State came out in the second half determined to stop the run and daring us to beat them in the air. So naturally we run, go nowhere, and then put massive amounts of pressure on our QB and receivers to bail out our failed runs, but for three decades our failure rate is huge. Hence our identity of run, run, pass, punt.

In terms of Luke Fickell you need to give him 4-5 years to bring in the type of guys he wants and if then there still no real improvement both in record and play then he has to be gone

Question...Why does Coach Prime at Colorado get a pass on his first 2 losing seasons and now receives accolades for being bowl eligible in his third season when they're not in the top 25 but Coach Ficklell gets roasted during his second year when it's clear his team has improved and is playing better than last season and so far a winning record playing a much tougher schedule than last?

Badger Wide Receivers (other than Anthony) were a Glaring Weakness vs. PSU. Way too much hype on Trech & Pauling this year. They have shown themselves to be mediocre. Dropped Balls have jeopardized the effectiveness of the Run Game. Bring in better receivers and stop harsh criticism of Locke. He ain't the Problem!!! Ryan and Ryan - can you execute a Balanced Offense without Catching the Ball??? nope
