A lot easier to figure it out with their schedule. You get on a roll early and the players start believing and the next thing you know you win the one close game on your schedule. They are a good team to be sure, but they were also set up for success with their schedule.

Our schedule is brutal and will be brutal for several years . Only in Fick's fourth year will things be easier in terms of schedule. OSU pulled away in the second half and showed again why they are dominant. It's really the haves and have nots. Does the taxpayers want to pay for an elite football national championship team or not. Do folks want to pay NIL money to get the top recruits?

Thanks for Reply Brian. This week vs Buckeyes will tell us a lot. If Indiana can compete on road vs a much more highly recruited and talented roster it will show how good a coach Cignetti is and at least the possibility of somewhat less talented teams to compete with the highly talented.

Ryan, I have a lot of respect for Brian. However. sometimes I get a bit frustrated because he acts like Wisconsin has never fielded top-flight players. I agree we have not recruited. Great quarterbacks or wide receivers. However, we have several linebackers in the NFL today. We have placed dozens of lineman in the NFL. We have one recent inductee in the Hall of Fame and JJ Watt, along with his brother are likely Hall of Famers. We have never attracted these so-called blue chip lineman and yet for many years we’ve had top flight defenses. Michigan, Alabama, Texas, and several other blue-chip programs have had down periods and with a good coach and direction they have rebounded. Our recruiting is great, and I still believe in Fickle. He just made a bad choice for his OC. I know we have work to do but I feel we’re closer than he does.

They did go 13-0 last season. The steps you need to take are necessary conditions to success but they aren’t sufficient conditions.

WI will never recruit to the level that Brian thinks they need to get to. This staff should be able to develop players so top 20 classes could work.

I think the conference realignment will help Wisconsin. Being in the big 10 and SEC as a player will give you more cachet. So guys who maybe would’ve gone to a higher big 12, pac 12, or ACC school may instead go a B tier SEC/Big 10 school. Additionally, we’ve had top 25 recruiting classes over the last few years and we’ve only been winning 7 games and had bad QB’s. If we finally hit on a QB and have a 10 win season I think recruiting will take another leap. I think this team can hit consistent top 15-18 every year
