If the Mac is an Air (I seem to recall it being so), and it’s an early 2015 model or newer, Apple will do the battery for something like $169 (at least, that’s what it was when I worked there). I've been back to university for 2 weeks now and it's been a HUGE disaster. I've skipped many classes and lectures because I was afraid to come in late or because I just couldn't wake up in the morning and I truly thought it wasn't a big deal because it was only the beginning of the semester. I haven't reviewed any class either so far... I didn't prepare myself at all to go back to school, not mentally nor physically. I've been in this altenative reality for the past two weeks, thinking "don't worry it's just the beginning of the semester" ; but now back to reality, I'm realizing I messed up big time and my attitude has gotten me into trouble. I want to be punctual, attend all my classes and lectures, be organized and studious. Watching your videos is giving me the motivation to be all that. I screwed up and I'll have to face some teachers I haven't yet seen because of all my skipping (which terrifies me) but I've decided to change and not to continue in this spiral because of you.

Seeing your big smile while talking about school made me so happy! I'm so proud of and excited for you! Edit: RE your difficulty with projected slide decks, you can request your own copy to view at home afterwards (usually? Or before?). That way during class you can listen and take notes on the lecture by listening, and then go over them at home on a more tolerable screen/with sunglasses/whatever and match them with the notes you took in class. P.S. have you tried screen dimmers on your phone/PC to reduce eye strain? I have them on mildly all the time, but I have them set to brighten/dim with the sun. I use f.lux for PC (yes the . is intentional) and Twilight for my Android phone - not sure about the Mac versions.

@@emmiereads Yes, requesting a printout of the lecture slide deck is a really straightforward and easy accommodation to make. It's also a common accommodation (at least in the US...I work for a psychologist who does testing specifically to help students get the accommodations they need to succeed in school). You may be able to get the accommodation informally by just talking to your professor, but there should also be an official channel through the university to request these kinds of accommodations.

One of the toughest transitions with going back to college is getting used to all the walking again. My campus was on a hill. So. Much. Incline. Walking.
@moonstonepearl213 жыл бұрын
My first semester I did a test run of going to every single class beforehand and even took note of how long it would take to get to each class. I was super nervous about not being able to find the places I needed to go. After a while I stopped doing that, especially since I became more familiar with that campus and many of the buildings. However some buildings on my campus were notoriously designed in the most confusing manner possible. For example, there is this one building where for the first week you see people wondering around swearing trying to fine their class. In it you'll have something like a hallway with the 100s classrooms. Then the next hallway will be the 500s?????? There are halls in-between the halls. It's ridiculous. I remember I had to hand in my writing folder at my appointment time in my professor's office. I ended up handing it in a bit late because I couldn't find the office. I told her I was wondering around for I don't know how long trying to find her office ,and she was just like Yep. That's this building and how confused she was when they first gave her that office. There are a ton of examples of people getting lost in that building and the other super confusing ones. Maybe the person who made the floorplans was trying to prank everyone. Thank goodness all of the buildings aren't like that.

I'm so happy for you!!! But yeah, fearing something good could be snatched away is something I fulllllly understand. But you're doing great. Enjoy! Ugh, after-images suck. I have visual snow syndrome, so I get that a lot. I wear sunglasses all the time, and people get used to seeing it, but I've also become a master of the eye-nap - when your sight gets too cluttered, close your eyes and let the after-images get as bright as they need to, then sort of turn on the dimmer, if that makes sense? I've found it's possible to will them to brighten or fade if I focus on them with my eyes closed. It only takes a minute, and afterwards the clutter has eased off a lot. And my eyes really appreciate the break! I don't know if that helps, but I thought I'd share. 💛
