The DEH musical made me so uncomfortable and I think you've really accurately expressed why. The way in which the main character manipulates the death of another is so deeply disturbing and it was really really upsetting for me to watch audiences connect with, sympathize with and cry over the main character despite how disgusting his behavior was.

Totally not silly or materialistic to want a series to be all hardcover or paperback - especially since in most cases, the paperback is so much smaller and shorter than the hardcover, so it really sticks out when you look at your shelves!

I, for one, love Dear Evan Hansen, but can see what you mean, even if I don’t personally agree with you. The book and the musical are different, and I do like the musical more, and I think you should listen to the soundtrack if you’re still considering it. It just holds a special place in my heart, because I listened to the soundtrack after reading the book and that got me into musical theatre, and I saw the show last summer. It’s just a special musical to me, and the book is good, too. The musical itself is so inspiring and left me in tears three times while watching the musical. But I will respect your opinion.

This might sound crazy, but you could rip out the front personalise page as neatly as you can and then put it in the front of the other edition you have. I did it for an edition of Carry on and it turned out really well :)

I can completely understand why Things I Should Have Known would not be a favorite and I could see why you would want to get rid of it. However, I love that book so much because I have a sister who has autism, it was a book that I related to more than any other book. I felt so represented and in a situation like mine that isn't something I can often find. For some reason, I felt the need to point this out. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for autism representation, each case is different but I found it to be very accurate.

i had to read the testing trilogy for school in 8th grade, and that was my first experience with dystopian. i was so annoyed with the characters for focusing so much on romance while their lives were at risk, but apparently that’s a big thing in a lot of dystopian? lol reading it now i don’t think i would be bothered, but edgy 13 year old me hated that trilogy

So i googled her and it turns out she is a dutch author, most of the times you don't see that dutch authors make it big outside of the netherlands, so that was really interesting. but then again she writes in english so that makes a difference but it's still cool.
