Die 45. Emmy-Verleihung 1993 wurde damals von RTL spät in der Nacht gezeigt, ein Stück darauf habe ich auf einer alten Kassette gefunden.
George Wendt und John Ratzenberger (beide aus „Cheers“) hielten eine kurze Ansprache für Laurie Metcalf, die einen Emmy als Beste Nebendarstellerin in einer Comedyserie bekam (Roseanne)
Larry David einen Emmy für das beste Drehbuch einer Comedyserie (Seinfeld)

John Goodman was and it was cool to see him happy for his co star Laurie.

Probably because award shows never really respected the show. It was a miracle that Laurie and Roseanne actually got anything. They ignored John Goodman which is insane.

Roseanne, didn’t win when she was first nominated a year before in 1992 So she decided not to attend the 93 awards

1992 (previous year) - Roseanne heavily predicted to win but ends up losing to Candice Bergen’s 3rd victory for “Murphy Brown.” 1993 (current year) - Roseanne receives a 2nd nom but admits in at least two interviews that she won’t be attending because she’s still bitter about losing the previous year + she’s angry that the show didn’t receive a Comedy Series nom. She ends up winning the Emmy. 1994 - Roseanne excitedly decides to attend because she’s predicted to win a second year in a row and that means she’ll get to deliver an actual acceptance speech. Admits she robbed herself of that moment the previous year because of her own pettiness. Cut to Emmy night and… Candice Bergen wins her 4th Emmy for “Murphy Brown.” 1995 - Roseanne receives her fourth consecutive nomination but once again decides to not attend. Cut to Emmy night and… Candice Bergen wins her 5th and final Emmy for “Murphy Brown.”
