We always use clinkers for fortune telling of sorts; you ask the clinker a question, and depending on the colour when you bite into it, you get your answer. Green=yes, yellow=maybe/ask again, and pink=no. Always good fun :)

Clinkers are best when you try and guess the colour of it before you bite it haha, whenever we have a bag my mum and I goof around trying to guess them :)

In one of my primary schools, I think in Year 3 or 4, my teacher had a lucky dip of random chocolates and sweets, and on Fridays the table group that won the class weekly competition got to pick a chocolate from it. You could immediately tell which one the mint patties were thanks to their shape, and most kids avoided them, but there was always a small group of very dedicated mint pattie fans who would specifically target them. They were lovingly known as the toothpaste eaters XD

For the Tim tam Emmy you can use milk but warm milk you can also use coffee but I have never tried it because I'm a kid but what I did with Tim Tam was I microwaved warm milk then used it as a draw and then right after I put the Tim tam right in my mouth and it melted YUMMM SOO good!

It's a Tim Tam "slam" because you're trying to "slam" the biscuit into your mouth before the tea makes it dissolve :) Drinking through the biscuit is the process, the aim is to eat an entire gooey Tim Tam in one go.

The raspberry clinker is the best, I remember playing a colour guessing game with clinkers while growing up. Tip: If you have any left over redskins they can be softened in the microwave (10 seconds usually works for me), also another idea, if you like vodka you can make a redskin vodka (pour some vodka out of the bottle, put approx. 10-12 redskins in bottle and put the removed vodka back into the bottle, let the redskins dissolve for approx. 24 hours, sieve any foam from the bottle and serve).

Every time I see a Bounty bar, I'm reminded of a very quick witted electrician and his less than quick witted trade assistant ( T. A. ), both of whom I worked with on a mine site years ago. One day we all crowded in an office, wasting time talking when one of the crew said he had had his ancestry researched and could trace one side of his family back to the Bounty, ( the ship of the infamous mutiny ). Quick as a flash, the electrician replied, "All the way back to the Bounty eh?" Then pointing at his T.A., he said, "Steve here can only trace his family back to a Snickers Bar!"

In Aus, you can play a traditional game with Clinkers, and it's aptly named "Clinker". You need 3 or more people, the more the better. Everyone picks a clinker, takes a bit, and checks the colour. If you get the same colour (Australian spelling) as someone else, you have to do rock paper scissors and whoever loses is out. You keep going 'till there's a winner. If you're in a two, there will of course only be one round.

Those Bounty bars as well as a few other candies & cookies from around the world, are sold in the Publix near us here in SC. I have tried quite a few including these shortbread biscuits (I believe from France) with a slab of milk chocolate on top! Those cookies, as well as, the Bounty bars & the Aero Mint bars are some of my favorites! They're a REALLY nice treat! I love being able to have stuff like that around the house for when my family comes to visit from OH.

There's a classic road trip game played in Australia where the idea is you try and guess the colour of the clinker before you bite into it. Besides that, you kind of hit the nail on the head. They're just kind of a honeycomb sweet with fruit flavour. Nothing special, but very nostalgic to some Australians because of the clinker game. :)

When I was a kid (in the 90's so not THAT long ago!) the RedSkins had a picture of a Native American chief on it. They changed that a while ago for obvious reasons but still kept the name. I don't know if it's just me but it seems they don't taste the same as they used to - they seem way sweeter than they used to - but it could just be my palate has changed. Also, clinkers are part of South Australian pride - everyone I know here loves them. Much love from South Aus.

We have Bounty bars in Gemany, too. Never knew they get them in Australia but not in the USA? A quick google later Wikipedia tells me that, while Mars Inc. who make Bounty is an American corporation, Bounty was first sold in the UK and Canada in 1951, and is sold internationally in (among others) countries like Great Britain, Germany, Austria and Australia. But apparently not widely sold in the USA. Huh, weird.

I once hunted down the Zumbo store in Manly - it was not easy to find because it was a tiny hole-in-the-wall - and frankly it's expensive AF, but the two pieces I bought were really nice. @icequeen9

To me, the green clinkers taste minty and the yellow ones taste like pineapple. I don't know if this means they taste different to different people, or if there are more flavours of clinker that I've never had. Also, with the tim-tams, my favourite flavour is double-coated. I remember eating tim-tams as a kid, and as most sweet treats go, they alter the recipe slowly over the years, and the original has less chocolate covering than it used to. So double-coat is like the 'original' original. And that extra coat makes the difference. It is sooooo goood. Harder to do a tim-tam slam with but just as satisfying when you do.

Tim Tam slams are a great invention. I just finishing reviewing some new flavour tim tams which i think would work well for tim tam slam!. Great seeing your video on Australian food products and getting a different view to what us in Australia are use too.
