HEARTBREAKS* 03:07/06:39 Rather than feel all alone in this crowd, 03:22 I am all alone on the far end of the world. 03:36 Have all the colors that hide your filth, 03:47 Free of fear, I am standing alone in the middle of a blur 4:06/07:09/10:27/10:56 Maybe (!), there is a secret I am hiding. 04:13 Of course I cry, because I have my heartbreaks* 04:21 What you just see, are the things running down my cheeks 04:28 In fact, in my heart, there is a sea that I am swimming in. * Almost homophonic with Turkish way of saying "shards of glass / cam kırıkları", with one letter change "shards of heart / can kırıkları (heartbreaks)" I hope this helps non-native listeners ✌

And she was doing it with her unique style and was also famous even before Evanescence was founded. Evanescence should be compared to her, not otherwise.

@@erdik.174 I agree, she was before just because like everything else Turkish world and Turks are foreign to the western world, for many reasons and we also don't know how to advertise ourselves. Mostly they still think we live in the dark, in tents( thanks to the government which is the only time translated in the USA shamelessly tells until him WE DIDN'T Have electricity or electronics etc roads right)...unfortunately it becomes difficult to tell people otherwise.

Ahmed Ertegun, Turkish producer, who was the owner of Atlantic records signed contract with Sebnem Ferah years before he signed the contract with Evanescence. Unfortunately sebnem dropped off the contact as she lost her father at the earthquake in 1999. She would have won many Grammy awards...I Google this and learned when people compare her with Evanescence. So there was sebnem first

Besides being a brilliant composer, Şebnem is also a very impeccable lyricist.There' s a pun intended with the title of the song ''Can Kırıkları '' which may roughly be translated as ''Soul in Broken Pieces'' comes from the phrase in Turkish ''Cam Kırıkları'' means ''pieces of broken glass ' She is playing with the word CAM/GLASS as CAN/SOUL as if the soul is breaking into pieces like a delicate glass while trying to express the feeling... the lycrics roughly means; Rather than feeling alone right in the middle of this crowd, I'm all alone at the far end of the world Let your unpolluted colors be yours, rather than being afraid right in this haziness/indistinctness, I'm on my own Maybe, I have something latent/hidden/secret ( smt I keep to myself) Of course I cry, I have a soul in broken pieces What you see, only the ones running down my cheeks, In fact, inside of me, there's an ocean I'm swimming in, there is....

I tried to translate the lyrics. It was very hard to translate because in this song she heavily used inverted sentences and figurative meanings. This is the best I can do, hope you can understand a bit. Instead of feeling all alone in this crowd, I am on my own at the other end of the world. You can have your colors that don't show the dirtiness. Instead of feeling afraid, I am inside of the murkiness, all alone. Maybe I have secret knowledge of my own. Surely I cry. I have broken souls/life. (she means "my soul/life is broken" aka can kırıkları) The things you see that flowing through my cheeks(she means tears), They are actually inside me. The sea inside me that I swim(she means there are so many tears that they become a sea inside her and she swims in it)

I love this song. Thank you very much for the analysis 🤘🙂 originally called "cam kırıkları" (glass shards) in Turkish. "Cam" and "Can" are similar in writing. Şebnem Ferah played with words here and made "Can kırıkları" (I have got shattered lives) (in meanıng of heartbreak) Translation of song lyrics 👇 In this crowd Rather than feeling all alone At one end of the world I'm all alone Your colors that don't show dirt Let them be yours, rather than fearing Exactly inside the haziness I'm all alone I, maybe Know something secretly Of course I may cry Because I have my heartbreaks The things you saw That shed through my cheeks Actually inside me There is a sea that I swimm that inside In this crowd Rather than feeling all alone At one end of the world I'm all alone I, maybe Know something secretly Of course I may cry Because I have my heartbreaks

Instead of being afraid, in the middle of pure blur, I'm all alone. I may be aware of your little secret. Well, of coruse I shed tears, I have broken pieces of my heart. I browsed 5-10 KZbin pages about singing evaulations, I always come across the same comments, I realized this: we don't need autonomous robots, we are rapidly progressing towards robotization and we are not aware of it, it is unbelievable, we are rapidly progressing towards the sameness, we don't surprise each other anymore unfortunately, I hope the music and lyrics culture of my different and beautiful country Turkey will provide you with different perspectives.
@ozanatak74572 жыл бұрын
The name of the song also implies another meaning. When you change the letter "n" to "m" the word becomes "Cam" which means glass. "Cam kırıkları" means pieces of a shattered glass. So when a Turkish speaking person hears the name "Can kırıkları" he/she instantly thinks of a broken glass. So the name also implies that my heart is broken like a glass...

Actually, when Sebnem Ferah was, yet Evanescence wasn't. Her musical and poetical genius is way ahead of many popcorn rock musicians that have a global fame. Her music is splendidly genuine which I feel like it conveys all the charms of goddesses of ancient Anatolia. The best thing about her is the strong feminist undertones in her lyrics. Her lyrics are not Evanescence kind of silly sad emo girl lyrics. Sorry but I couldn't find any parallelism between Ferah and the emo band.
