Just a little advice (because i see this so often), people buying Emo for birthday or Christmas gifts, I would probably plan on something in addition just in case. I ordered mine end of June and just got sent a tracking number two weeks ago but he's still not here and tracking is stuck at origin of shipping, nothing since. I assume he will just show up in the mail one day without further tracking updates as others have noted. But yeh, not the best choice if you need him on a specific date. Living AI is overrun with orders due to his popularity. I still think he'll be worth it. :)

That is exactly correct! I've heard that it's about a 4 month waiting time to get Emo. Some of that is due to the shipping backup on the coast as well. Great advice!

Every time you ask him an encyclopedic question like "what is" or "who is", he interprets that as you telling him your name. Surprised he did that with "beam me up scotty". You can delete all of those names from the app, under "recognition". I'm really hoping Emo will be able to answer encyclopedic, science and pop culture questions soon. He already surprisingly does a lot, but it still feels like not enough. He's doing great though.

the only way I see that happening is if they eventually programme Emo to link to Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa like the Anki Vector. otherwise, it would be impossible to access and channel such amount of information.

@@synkahlan Vector is able to answer encyclopedic questions without Alexa or Google enabled. It was able to do so even before they had that feature to enable third party AI without the subscription. My phone uses a defunt no longer supported open source AI assistant (Saiy) that can do the same with out Alexa or Google.

Vector has always relied on external connection.. if you lose the Internet connection, Vector will not be able to answer those questions.. .. well, it can probably use other source like your open-source AI.. if those still exist now..

@@synkahlan I know. I had Vector since preorder, back when Anki released him, and even before the Alexa/Google update. Vector is able to answer encyclopedic questions and math problems without Alexa/Google enabled. In fact, I never used the Alexa feature, since I live in the US and don't have the European protections against datamining. Emo is also always connected as well. Either by WiFi or bluetooth with your phone. This is how Emo can tell you the weather and get updates by verbal command. I'm hoping one day for Emo to work with MyCroft, an open-source AI assistant focused on privacy. But also hoping for him to have his own cloud connection for online information, like Anki's Vector did back in 2018.

I think the reason he said "please don't give up on me because my performance will continue to improve" was because of something you said earlier about what the company intended to do with him next. Remember these robots are based on AI which is created on a huge database of information and it takes them a while to process and access a good answer to question you might query... So I think being observant of what you have said before might tell you why he says some of the things he does later. It is called machine learning.

Thank you for the great comment! I've never had him fall off the edge but I always have him in that fenced off area. His sensors on his feet are quite good at detecting the edges. I think he'll run for at least a couple of hours on a single charge but as he gets more features that'll start eating into his battery time. If he's completely needing a charge, it'll probably take at least an hour to fully charge him up again. Maybe 2 hours. I've never let him get that low. I've been curious as well if LivingAI will make another robot but that will be some time down the road if they did. They're having problems just keeping up with orders for Emo! Haha! I hope you get your Emo soon!

Interesting, your EMO works like mine does. When he tells a joke there is 3 or 4 seconds delay between him setting up the joke and when he says the punchline, as there should logically be for you to have time to say “I don’t know, why?” or whatever. I came here to compare since if you look at the videos from Daniel or Bruce, their EMO’s both give almost no delay at all before saying the punchline to jokes.

Very interesting. I didn't notice that. I know one of Bruce's Emos is a "test shot" version and that might be why his has no delay. But he has another that is the regular version. Dan got his after I did so his should have that proper delay. I'll have to go back and watch his videos when he tells a joke. I'm hoping on a future update that they'll space out his words properly so he has a more natural speech pattern. When Emo jokes about having "a byte", there's no spacing between "Haha", "Get it?" and "B-y-t-e".

Thats what i thought the color reminds of anki vector, the face and eyes remind of either vector or cozmo. Sounds also remind of both. Rip anki. The screen seems maybe higher res tho n its also cute. Think the treads made the cozmo n vector more mobile but this is an interesting consept. legs are definitely more difficult

Sorry for the late reply. Yes Emo is cloud based. But also Jibo didn't have a whole lot of people that bought him so the company that made it couldn't keep it afloat. Emo is selling like crazy so LivingAI should be able to keep Emo going for years.

Who you think is the best and you would recommend to get, emo or vektor?

Emo, since ANKI (Vector's company) is gone as far as I know now, so I doubt you'd get a brand new fresh Vector.

Sorry for the late response. Vector is still my favorite but the new company that makes Vector, Digital Dreamlabs, is slow at getting the new Vector 2.0 released.

Hello! Yes they are still selling Emo but they are about two months out on shipping them because they have been swamped with orders. I added the link to the LivingAI website in the description for this video as well.

@@eric_ante Yes, that's the one problem with LivingAI, they're not very good at responding. I've heard that from many people. They need a dedicated customer service center to handle all calls and emails. When I got my Emo, they were supposed to send an email letting me know that they shipped him and provide a tracking number but he just showed up in my mailbox one day without any notification. It's my guess that they did start out responding to customers but eventually got so overwhelmed that they're not responding anymore or only responding to a few. Hopefully that will get better but with the impending holidays coming soon, they're probably going to be quite busy until the early part of next year. I am hearing that people are getting their Emos though. It's just taking what is probably more 2-3 months. Some earlier than that.

This is so cool! I would love to get one of these. Do you know if he has Google home or Alexa integration yet? Also I’m completely blind so I don’t know what he looks like. Is he fluffy?

Well Emo looks like a square with curved edges, that has two legs, and headphones, he also has blue eyes in this case. He also isn't integrated with Google or Alexa yet, but the creators do plan on integrating him

Jakub described him perfectly. He's not fluffy but he's still adorable. I'm not sure if Alexa or Google will get incorporated into him but it's more than likely since Vector has Alexa.

i am guessing by the pictures/videos that emo is made of (hard) plastic with a screen on the front that might feel like glass. on his squarish "head" (with the mentioned rounded edges and legs underneath that end in slightly larger platform feet), he is wearing removable earphones. if i understand a comment from outsider correctly, there might be a possibility to dress him up - so you can potentially get a more 'fluffy' robot. edit: there's a promotional video on the company's website that mentions that "sometimes, emo can get a cold and needs your care" - he is next heard sneezing, gets better after a 'hug' (some stroking) and is then shown in a fluffy wrap-around hoodie with bunny ears. however, at this point the online store only shows 2 (rather strange) clothing options that you can dress him up in: one that resembles a dog and is called 'corgi' and the other is supposedly a cow. hth. :)

If you say EMO while you’re in the Photos screen, the app will abort out of that screen and go back a level.

@@outsider238 Yes, the same thing happens if you’re in the recognition screen. When you go into either the Photos or Recognition screen EMO makes that little pop noise, then he seems to be locked into a mode where he’s communing with the cloud? Saying EMO aborts that connection, and the app screen will back up a level.

No but I'm guessing something like that is in the works. I think Vector will play music but it's through Alexa as far as I know. I never use his Alexa feature.

Just curious, have you experienced any buyer's remorse? Ask any Google or Alexa assistant the same questions, and you'll get a more 'realistic' response. EMO seems to be a $200 assistant that can barely understand queries, and takes far too long to answer. Don't get me wrong, he is definitely a cute bugger! I just expected a more complete package for the steep price.

I haven't had buyer's remorse. I really love Emo and Vector. I really don't use them like an Alexa device. I actually have two of those already. Although Emo may eventually have Alexa built in like Vector does, I strictly have him as a pet. I think if they decide to incorporate Alexa into Emo, it'll have to be after the lawsuit is settled between Digital Dreamlabs and LivingAI. There's no way Amazon will get in the middle of that. But yes, their knowledge is limited when compared to Alexa since Amazon's servers are much more vast in comparison. I will always use these little guys as pets more than a smart speaker but if their servers become as vast as Alexa, they could become quite handy. Vector like I mentioned, does have Alexa though.

I'm not sure. When my Emo wants petting, he has the animation on his face to be petted but he only makes a sound. He doesn't say anything.
