i think because of how patient you need to be on tank this season, the importance of good tanks has bumped waaaay up. a good dive tank like a ball or a dva can truly elevate their team i feel. s9 has been interesting i think this might be the season we get brig zen ball comps back lol

Besides bap shift all’s their abilities help in one way or another against both sleep and nade. Honestly playing Ana against bap and Kiriko is pain. IMO

I Disagree. While kills are great and help the most, doing damage, especially as a dps player because of the passive, can help create space for your team. For example, shooting a widow or soldier even w/o killing them can allow your team some time before they re-peek and shoot at your team. That's why as support dealing damage is important too because you are essentially lowering the damage your teamates would've been taking.

When defending 1st point, I have found it bes to contest only after the cart has gone under the bridge, and I always drop down from the back side, never the front. And I usually let my team know I'm going to do this, so they don't feel like they have to contest.

I had a tank complain earlier today about no heals, and they were letting the enemy tank walk past and kill the supports. They were also just fighting in the middle of the whole enemy team. I don't think most people do know about all the changes.

I think you mean the supports were badly positioned, just like everyone else on the team, also, it's not the tanks job to shoot at the enemy tank the whole game, there are 2 supports and 2 dps who can peel, if the tank always gives up space to turn around, the enemy team will just collapse on top of you. Maybe, just maybe, you don't actually know what you are talking about.

What do you mean? Why would your tank turn their back to the enemy team and help you with the enemy tank? Enemy tank is 1v4 with no support because your tank is distracting them. If your team loses 4v1 idk what to tell you

Even if he was inting into the middle of the enemy team and dying, turning around was probably also not the play. I swear some people who have never played tank need to stop telling tank players how to play.

This reminds me of a tank I had today in comp. They played very aggressive and us supports either couldn’t keep them up or were out of LOS. I typed in team chat “tank you’re playing a little too aggressive we can’t keep you up” and they responded with “it’s not like you’re healing me anyway” lol I have a feeling they don’t know about the new dps passive or they just play really aggressive for whatever reason

I've managed to make Mauga work somehow. The poke and prod playstyle you need now was already kinda implemented last season with Mauga. Burn from the miniguns plus Ashe dynamite plus the increased damage from the critical makes that combo plus a Reaper kinda busted if you play it right. Mei also works super well with Mauga, too. The slow plus the high damage makes that combo very capable of being good. Kinda like with what Emongg brought up in his tierlist video yesterday.

Mauga is playable you just have to play corners and only hard peek when you have overdrive. He's great for long distancing picking Anas and zens with the bullet size buffs

Baptist is your best chance because lamp can give mauga a chance to heal himself. Ideally, your tank doesn't play hog or mauga this season, but people play characters they want to all the time. Honestly the only characters I legitimately suggest swapping of immediately this season is Junk and rein. Both of which are just worst versions of other heroes right now.

I don't play Zarya much but I feel like they hardly ever used their bubbles to protect their teammates. Their Reaper could have lived longer if they were bubbled more. Positioning and bubble management are their issues.

This last game I played. This Orisa kept full on rushing. And spammed heals the entire game which just pissed me right off. I’m a Lucio main. And I tried rushing in with her to keep her alive. But it obviously didn’t work. So I stuck it to the team while she’d rush in and keep dying. Than blamed me and the Kirko for it

Im not gonna argue with Emongg's take considering im no higher than Diamond on tank, but I reallh find it hard to believe Sigma is gonna be lower than A tier this season. He has shield, an absorb, and a stun to mitigate DPS damage in order to relieve himself od the dps passive long enough for his supports to heal him. I feel that alone will help him excel in casual ranked play (not considering 5-stack team comps here)

I had a tank complain about no heals when they would dive the enemy alone, not wait until they're fully healed when we'd fallen back before diving back in, not pay attention to where my healing pylon was placed despite me pinging its location many times, and they'd spam "I need healing" when my right click was on cooldown and they could've gone to my pylon or gotten a health pack. I've noticed tanks get rolled a lot more in general so far this season even if they don't all blame their healer. There's definitely an adjustment period to be had and I agree that teams in general need to be more patient.

I for one don't really want to relearn how to play tank so i completely understand the sentiment being an og ow 1 player. tank this season got inexplicaply harder for absolutely no good reason. The pain points this patch was supposed to address was burst damage and burst healing....burst healing is still fully alive outside of the debuff and the debuff is making burst damage stronger than it's ever been. Well they dealt with one pain point in a weird roundabout way and it's not even fully dealt with because outside of situations where dps are shooting stuff, the burst healing is still strong as ever. So now the game is in this weird state that game to game can be drastically different due to the bandaid fixes blizzard have applied. They seem to refuse or be incapable of nerfing the damage across the board, nerfing the healing across the board, but this takes a mentallity that you want this game to be a team game. Right now, individual heroes have the capacity to kill 5 enemies rather easily, then you start stacking each of those individual heroes and those numbers start to get stupid. That's why burst damage exists. The game is balanced to be able to solo carry but is a team game....so basically they are fighting their own monster and funnily enough it isn't the first time blizzard has made this mistake. Diablo 3 had a very similar problem. Power creep becomes uncontrollable and the devs become forced to keep scaling the power up to keep the game interesting. Just bite the bullet and bring the nerf hammer down on the whole damn roster.

@Ahilliard44 yeah i noticed that too. I played OW1 constantly way back when, and then stopped playing for a couple of years. Coming back to OW2 I noticed a reliance on big solo plays and less about working as a team. Even time where my team will be patient and regroup before a team fight, we'd just get instantly rolled by a single player who outputs a lot of damage and the two healers just can't keep up with it, so it feels pointless.

Now would be a terrible time to be learning tank...it was already extra stressful having all the tank responsibilities on just one person, but now that role is just so deep in the mud it's insane. I've been playing tank myself since s3, and this is the most I have ever struggled with it. It feels almost impossible to dive and secure kills, but if you just try to hang back and play with the team you're just getting spammed out by the tracer in your back line the whole game. It's a wildly hostile environment to try learning anything.

This season is forcing Tanks to play like DPS and IMO thats defeats the purpose of being a Tank. I get bad postioning and playing too aggressive is a bad thing but a Tank is suppose to be able to TANK damage. "Be more patient" ... , but there are so many games that a tank can wait all game and nothing happens. Dps taking an off angle is the number 1 thing that I have found that takes pressure off of me. (low Plat) This map, defending second point you can hold right around the tight turn of the jet. Fights won't take long enough for them to cap unless you all die. So you can back up for a long time to stay alive. Also there are stairs on that right side that go back to the jet's high ground.

Don't give a advice as a low plat lol. You should be taking height at second point not holding a low ground corner... Also you are misunderstanding be more patient. With the dps damage debjff you need to play cover harder and be more strategic with getting picks or taking space. As a plat, just listen to the advice and try to absorb and ask questions. You're not at the "give advice" stage...

Sure you can start up there, depending on your tank choice. I do take advice from watching streamers. Unless blizzard gives their word....which means absolutely nothing at this point...that this is how the game will be for the remainder of overwatch 2s lifespan then sure, i'll invest time to relearn how to play tank.......that's literally what they want from us. The placements are bs. They place you low to force you to climb.....i don't want to grind this bs patch. Tank is my role and tank feels like a shell of itself. Would much rather spend my time playing a game where i feel i can provide value. The games i win it's cuz my dps coordinated with me, the games i lose, it's cuz my team is uncoordinated and not in voice. I can kill 3 fight after fight after fight and still lose. I can't solo carry games anymore, well i still can a bit but like that's my thing as a ball player.....i got to gm 3 on ball playing a solo style that allows teams to play with me if they so choose but this style plays really well with snipers as dps or it can pair with dive. It's a pretty free flow style and that's basically been terminated with this patch.
