Fun fact: When they recorded this song they were having difficulties in deciding how to end it. So they all took a break, ran to the pub for a few pints, and when they returned they recorded the album version in one take. As soon as Thom finished the vocals he immediately burst into tears.

@@desrever1138 from what I read they went to a Jeff Buckley concert and that inspired the band to make it a slow melancholy song and Thom to sing it this way with his falsetto because they were having problems making the song

Ikr? "Exit Music (From A Film)" is one of those songs that always ends with tears streaming down my face, no matter how many times I hear it; partly from the classic-yet-universal story and the emotions connected to that, but mostly from the beauty and artistry of the instruments, voice, and composition. It's such a perfect little gem of a song, weirdly simple while still being deep, emotional, and impactful. I like most of Radiohead's songs but I legit LOVE "Exit Music."

This song is about a plastic surgeon. "He used to do surgery on the girls in the 80s, but gravity always wins." And about all the fakeness in the world, that's what wears him out.

Thats only one verse of the song which ends with it wears him out then the lyrics move on from that- if I had to say what I thought it was about I’d say it’s ultimately about “more and more people pretending to be something they’re not (like plastic trees) and the need and longing for a genuine relationship in a world filled with materialistic shallow self centred, enpty people who are more concerned of their external image than finding anything genuine.

If you want their rock side "Just" will show you their versatility and both have videos as deep as the songs. Something you guys will definitely enjoy: "Lover, You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley (specially the live version). When Radiohead was trying to record "Fake Plastic Trees" in 1994 they were having a hard time with it so they took a break and attended a Jeff Buckley gig in London. Jeff Buckley's vocals left Thom Yorke so stunned that he went back to the studio, recorded a take of the song with nothing but an acoustic guitar and wept afterwards. The band then overdubbed their parts on top of it and that's the version you've just heard.

So glad you're continuing your Radiohead journey! This one is near the top of my favorite songs by them! 🎉

The background in the sonic landscape of this song was the beginning of the sound that (I feel) hits an all time peak in Faust Arp from In Rainbows. And I’m not just talking about a Radiohead peak. I’m talking about ALL MUSIC ANYWHERE. Genius is the only suitable adjective.

I know many Radiohead fans prefer OK Computer etc but for me The Bends does it especially when I'm in a particular mood. I love it's layers of depth.

OK Computer, The Bends, Kid A, Hail to the Thief, and In Rainbows are 5 of my top 10 GOAT albums, and there are great tunes on all their other albums too. Many bands today make great singles, but Radiohead is one of the last bands that make great albums.

Imagine hearing this album for the first time on CD back when it was released. Incredible. Their last real "rock" album. OK Computer kind of changed everything for them. Their musical maturity over their careers is pretty amazing. Please play more of their songs on your channel. 🙏 🍻

One of my favorites. I’d love for you to react to Paranoid Android…the first song that showed me this was truly a unique band. And Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is their best song in my opinion…it’s the closest I get to having a Pink Floyd experience listening to Radiohead

For years, I always thought 99 Luftballons has been my favourite song.... but having finally heard this song again but in a new light, I think Radiohead has pipped Nena to the gold medal.

Amber got the song and got what the song is trying to convey through the video. Jay on the other hand kept his eyes closed through the entire video. Nobody believes that he was feeling the song 😂he does that with all the videos 😂😂
