Even though that's not what this song is meant for, When I first heard it.I thought about the little girl that I gave up for adoption. In my heart this song is dedicated to her adoptive parents from me.

My son has an 11 year old son and 3 year old daughter…I see the protective natures of my son and grandson toward my granddaughter and quietly laugh, knowing any boy who wants to be close to her had better be prepared to meet a bit of resistance!

my dad passed of Alzheimer's, I am the oldest and was his caregiver .... this song really hits me because my father forgot who I was but the stories he would tell me of his pride and joy first born ... nice to know exactly how he felt about me ... when I feel down I play this song and ugly cry ... lol

Funny, our boy is all boy but he was always hanging onto my dress tails. He did cooking, cleaning, babysitting. Our girls were all daddy's girls. They all change their own tires, change brakes and oil, drive stick shifts, pull horse trailers and are not afraid to get their hands dirty, in fact, they love it. They are also very loving nurturing mothers and wives. It's wonderful to know they were so close to their daddy and are so proud he took the time to show them to depend on themselves. Oh, yes, he walked all three of them down the isle to men he still isn't quite sure are completely good enough, lol.

This song came out 11 years after my dad passed. I was the only girl in the family, so he and my four brothers were very protective. When I first heard this song, it brought me to tears, (still does,) knowing that I was definitely a daddy’s girl.

I was supposed to dance to this song with my dad at my wedding, but he was too sick with cancer. He died 2 months and 1 day later. And then 5 1/2 years later, my husband ended up dying from cancer too 😔
