I’m loving Bastein as part of Home Free. His voice is smooth and clear, he blends beautifully with Rob, he’s obviously a great songwriter, and now we know he’s just as goofy as the rest of them. He seems to be a sensitive soul. I think Home Free seems to be “refreshed” since Bastein came in. He can bring the soul , as can Rob- we heard Gospel Rob in “Santa Claus “.I hope we get more jazzy, funky, R&B type music from them. I saw HF in concert in June, when Bastein was still fitting into the group(6 months earlier than anticipated). It was a great show, and I expect Bastein to grow wonderfully into his place.

"Bright colored leaves, lost beneath the snow" to me symbolizes Bastien & the love he has for his husband (something beautiful) buried under snow ( his family's coldness/wanting to bury/reject everything that Bastien & his husband stand for).... 😢 The Ruppster looks torn between heartbreak for Bastien and the urge to shake some sense into families that treat their own children like this.

Let Me Come Home is so beautiful and so heartbreaking. It's sad that people have to experuence that feeling of abandment just for being themselves. Adam Rupp said he couldn't stop crying while he was cresting the percussion track. I don't know how they survive doing this live. And then there are the really tall 5 year olds destroying Santa's workshop. Home Free can give you whiplash Merry Christmas!

I just went to my first ever live performance of Home Free in Flint, MI Thursday night (Dec. 12th). It was cold (teens and single digits) and snowing but worth it. They opened with Santa Claus is coming to town. Did you catch when they did the sound of the "toy horn" they mimicked the trumpets in the Johnny Cash song, Ring Of Fire? They do that a lot, throw in parts or phrases from other songs. Flint MI is Adam Bastien's home town so it was quite the celebration. His mother and other family members were there. Happy New Year!

It was also my first Homefree concert 12/12 in Flint, MI. It was fabulous! It was so special with Adam Bastien’s family and friends there. He cried, we cried… Tim is such a naturally funny MC and Santa Claus is Coming and Mr. Grinch are such fun. I was amazed at how good they are live! It was worth the cold, icy drive home.

Rupp confessed that he had a really hard time recording the percussion because he kept crying. This was first written a few years ago and the answer from parts of his family was "no" but I believe that the rift has healed at least a bit. He and Tim re-wrote it a bit this year.

I read in other comments that he’s reconciled with his parents, but not so much with his siblings.
@nancyholter56462 күн бұрын
@@DennisKovacich I know at least one of his siblings WAS an issue, but I thought the tension had eased at least a bit over the years. Not a full reconciliation, but maybe a softening? I can't imagine the strength it took to standup in front of an audience night after night to sing that song.

Bastien original! Wrote with his husband. This is what happens when this is the 6th video in 2 days, 2 hours of sleep off the rails from take 1, chance loved the whipped cream, Rob, skittles HURT, Bastien loved the chocolate and carmel, tim of course cookies!

Yes, I agree it is very sad, and beautifully written to touch our hearts. It will be worth the tears when it helps open hearts and minds every Christmas bringing more families together.

What a pair to break down together. Santa Claus is Coming to Town is such a bop and Let me Come Home is just stunning. Your analysis of both is a Christmas present in itself! Hopefully you get round to You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch at some point for more craziness (and bassy bells and whistles, if you needed any more convincing), I’d love to see what you thought of the arrangement and music video. Also looking forward to seeing what the EP next week holds, I’ve been hyped since your podcast ep with Peter. Merry Christmas!

Happy Christmas, Mortius! Let Me Come Home is an original by Bastien, based on his life experience. The guys did an amazing job with Christmas songs this year (I don’t even like Christmas music).
@babyfry47752 күн бұрын
Bastien wrote Let Me Come Home. Tim helped make it a little more applicable to the a cappella world. Bastien had personal problems and his family was not happy but came to welcome him back home. Love the craziness of the elf song. Everybody was crazy and it was fun to watch. Loved it Mortius. Hope you had a good holiday!!!

I have no opinions on eggnog - it's not something I've ever tried over this side of the Pond. ;-) I do love these videos though - such a great contrast, but both so good. Bastien wrote such a special moving song, and I love that Home Free chose to record it, and to make it clear where they stood. But then you have Santa's elf silliness, and I can't stop watching to keep spotting new things.
@michaellehtonen9020Күн бұрын
Adam Bastien wrote this originally from his own personal experiences and performed it with his husband. You can see the original on their solo youtube channel (I tried to post the link but it doesn't want to go through). Absolutely an incredibly powerful song. Also if you just search let me come home Adam Bastien it will give you the version from his and his husband's solo youtube.

Still disappointed that none of my favorite reactors have caught the random twerk that Tim snuck in there in Santa Claus is Comin to Town 🤣.... OR the little Easter egg of the little riff from Ring of Fire that the guys threw in there as Tim finished his line of " little tin horns and little toy drums "
@kaleighhenderson73542 күн бұрын
Oh THAT’S what that riff was from!!! That’s been driving me crazy for a month trying to place it 😂

This is an Original written by Bastien, but long before he joined (rejoined?) Home Free. There's a solo version of this from him, one version he did together with his husband Jerome as OneUp and now the Home Free version (with slightly tweaked lyrics) - so it technically counts as a cover. And yes, this really pulled at the heartstrings. I think this was the second song in a row that made me really sad and I was then really glad that the next two (Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town and You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch) were really funny and make me smile and laugh every single time. They actually filmed both videos you reacted here to on the same day (plus another one) and I think it's a really good thing that the did Santa Claus last. This was so hilarious and silly and I believe they were far too keyed up at the end to do a serious video. If you want a bass Christmas song from Home Free I would strongly recommend You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch. It is absolutely amazing and there is lots of bass in it. And the video is very unique. I won't mind if you did this outside of the Christmas season. Thanks for the reaction.

As ALWAYS, it was a fun time following along with your watch! I was lucky enough to have a meet and greet with them shortly after Bastien joined the chaos. They made mention that his fun and enthusiasm has been very infectious and has given them a renewed sense of being playful and a humble appreciation for everything they've been blessed with for the rest of the group. They said it's like seeing things through his eyes and they're having a total blast! He's such a sweet human and has fit in perfectly with the Home Free family!

Growing up in Australia, it is summer at Christmas time so we don't typically experience a white Christmas. It is normally over 35°C (95°F). I do however remember one year in my childhood where it did actually snow on. Christmas day in a freak storm. Unfortunately, the ground was too warm and the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. We do get a white Christmas of sorts in some areas when we celebrate "Christmas in July" (but for most people to see snow, they've got to travel).

It's not "egg juice", it's a vehicle for rum. And merriness.

It's good even without alcohol. It's the spices, the nutmeg+cinnamon+cloves that really do it for me. Like, eggnog is basically just a pumpkinspice latte, hold the coffee

Well, I think the emotional tears were during the audio recording. Based on the BTS, tears during the video recording were maybe caused by swallowing some artificial snow. 😂😂😂 It makes for a good video either way. Happy Christmas Karen.
