I lived in Bunbury for a while and currently live in a small town only 20 minutes from Harvey...... so I go to Harvey and Bunbury quite often and can guarantee that your family will love it IF this path works out for you both 🤞 I definitely agree that the Southwest is the best region to try and settle into rather than the major Perth Metro region. The biggest challenge will be to avoid any remote regions throughout the Wheatbelt or Northern Western Australia, as these are VERY remote areas where there's basically nothing for hundreds of kilometres in regards to shopping or any other major support/suplies/kids activities available 😮

This is what I've been thinking, so it's good to get that confirmation from someone with the experience of it!

It has been so nice to see a teacher related vlog. It is like an emotional roller coaster going through the visa process. My husband was exactly the same as yours and yet I was like a nervous wreck. Your husband will get approved on a 3 year degree with TRBWA. I hope you get your first choice but if not be open. There are plenty of beautiful locations across WA that are family friendly and social with beautiful coast lines.

I couldn't find very much online about this scenario, but since we've started vlogging about it, more people have commented or reached out to say they were in similar situations - so I'm glad we did it! We've emailed the dept of education to say we basically don't have a preference just to see if it helps our options anymore. I personally feel like it's only a handful of years in one location, to then have the freedom to choose where we go after that and have our life in Aus. So fingers crossed it all works out in our favour. I'm posting a new vlog update today, so look out for that! x

@@mariatateofficial fantastic! That's the mindset. I am sure you will find a location quicker now with more options available. I'm looking forward to the next vlog.

I hope things all get sorted for you very soon. I'm sure they will. Bunbury is a good location but if not there, certainly stick to the south west of WA. It is a beautiful part of the world. (although I live on the east coast). I'm excited for you, even though I'm sure it is all stressful. Good luck!

Thank you so much, it’s crazy that we’re moving to WA without ever having been. But we met in Sydney and fell in love with the aussie lifestyle whilst traveling up the east coast, so I’m positive WA will be just as good for us - maybe more so with the kids! 🩷

I am an older English born person in Australia. Migrated 60 plus years ago. Australia is a great place to bring up kids. You will probably get home sick and miss friends and family but give it a go and you will have a successful happy life. I hope your dreams come true and your move is smooth. All the best. Look forward to your next video. I live on the other side of the country in NSW.

Thank you for your support and lovely comment, Robert! I met my husband in Sydney 9 years ago (he's from the UK), so we absolutely love it over there. For this visa process it's WA initially, but we're open to any route of being able to set up home for our now family of 4 in Australia. Fingers crossed it all works out like we want it to

It took us 2 years to get our visa.My job was on the top of the ‘demand list’ and it still took 2 years. We did a 30 day sale on our house.

It took us a year to get our visa to come over. The longest most stressful year of our lives. Different processes back in the 80’s but I can relate ❤

I love my Oz summer xmas. We used to go to waterfront restaurants but now, with the grandkids, being as active as they are, we like to go to a park near a beach, use the free BBQ and the tables and have a nice, sunny family lunch. Lots of other people and families do the same and it's a great atmosphere. As kids, our chrissie presents were goggles, swim fins (flippers), snorkels, boogie boards, beach towels. In summer, some beaches are floodlit and i loved going with my parents in the evening. Around 10 pm there would be masses of people enjoying the beach, some swimming, most sitting on the sand. Such good times. We celebrated Empire Day (!!!) and us kids, the beach brats, would spend weeks collecting driftwood and digging a deep hole in the sand. Then, on the day, we'd light the giant bonfire and (back then) light all our collected fireworks. Lots of pocketmoney spent on crackers. Christmas in Australia is fun, bizarre and lots of fun. Lots of surfers in Santa suits,,,

I love how nostalgic this whole comments is and how much fun you and your family have! I spent one christmas on Bondi beach and felt it was over in 2 minutes; but that was because we were on our own, 10 years ago pre-family life etc. I have high hopes that we'll love the new experience and can mix it in with Christmas back in the UK to balance it out!

We came to Australia in 1974 from Prestwick in Scotland. It was a 2yr journey from when my parents first applied for emigration to when we actually left which was May 23, 1974. Way back then no email so everything was done by phone and snail mail. We were given a date so yippee we're going, house was packed up and everything into a shipping container, car sold, house sold, everything ready. Then the bombshell, there's going to be a delay. We already had a house, dad's family came here just after WWII, dad had a job to come to, so it was tormented time with loud phone calls and we had to move in with my grandmother, so not the best of times. it took another 6mths to get the visa's and passports. It eventually turned out good and we arrived in Sydney. Best advice I can give is you have to be patient and make sure you have an OMARA immigration agent to assist in the process because one error on piece of paper can send you to the back end of the queue to start all over again. Bunbury is a lovely spot in WA and I have family there as well.

I have lived most of my life in New Zealand but i have never got used to christmas in summertime 😢 Christmas and New Year with twinkle lights and log fires is the best, it seems to break up the winter months

Ahh, it's the same for me! The lights and the activities and complaining about how cold our noses and hands are seems to be the best bit haha. I love the whole activity of buying new winter coats, boots, hats etc. We'll just need to make it a thing to keep visiting home around that time of year so we get a good balance!

But WA may grant you a skill assessment but that doesn’t mean Home Affairs will grant the visa. WA can't grant visas. Only the Federal Government can and if they do, It may be months, if it happens. You should actually pay for professional advice.

Have you looked at possibly renting your property out when you go? If your husband will start earning as soon as he gets there. I am moving to Perth in November and I'm nowhere near ready!

@@ness1078 ohh thats so exciting! (And a bit nervewracking! Haha). So we looked into it but because we took the help 2 buy offer on our house, we would have to pay that off bit of the deposit off first to then rent it. Im hoping things will happen soon as they’re meant to for us 🤞🏼

Ahh all the best your way!! I’m on IG @mariatateofficial as well. We’re hopefully going to know what’s happening 100% in October which is getting me through, but still so mentally draining. If the teaching registration goes through ok and is approved then we at least know that there’s an alternative visa route outside of the 482 visa with WA - but that’s self funded and with this route we’re exploring now, they cover all costs. So a big difference!
