@@sayeedmohammad8398 Several historians have rubbished almost everything he has written. His strong bias would leave him unworthy of being labelled a historian. Shame on him and others like him.

I think the host should have been more patient & disciplined. He's constantly interrupting sir irfan habib when he's at the middle of his talking.

It is a wrong practice to praise one's own religion while criticizing other's religion. According to him, by doing this one is actually doing greater harm to one's own religion. Try to understand the main ideas of another's religion, and respect it. ~Ashoka

Rajiv Malhotra is a pseudo science peddler , his inter life reincarnation billionaire idea with Nityananda which became a meme being the best example. Sampath is an apologist for Savarkar and the Right Wing. Irfan Habib being a Marxist keeps criticizing commie governments and even concedes the good of Gandhi (communal harmony aspects) , despite being ideologically opposed to him.

I think the young man Arora interviewing Prof Habib got him! If there was no reading public, in India at the time of Ashoka, then why did Ashoka bother to write the edict at the first place? And then while begging to differ, Prof Habib went to say exactly what was the guy suggesting, but also kind of retracting what he said earlier that Ashoka brought writing to India!! From 32 minutes on!

you are a fool to believe that ashoka bought writing to india 😂😂
@girishm5880 Жыл бұрын
In the beginning the Professor said writing existed before Ashoka but just in form of words and not as sentences or text. Ashoka introduced writing in a widespread manner to spread his messages for posterity. So there is no retraction.

The edicts could not be read by the public easily, unless they climbed up the edicts. the edicts were likely read publicly by designated public speakers to an audience
@yugmathakkar4023 Жыл бұрын
@@AncientIndia64 incorrect. It seems to you that the edicts are high up the pillars because, a part of the pillar was underground acting as the foundation for the rest of the pillar. The writing was therefore, at a level of human eyesight and could be read very easily by anyone. It's ludicrous to even think that a complex civilization like India, which had built such complex cities, complex philosophy and theology, did not have a well established writing system before 260 BCE.
