Based off the way it's painted, white with red swipes, the unknown cloth mentioned at 5:50 looks like it's a cloth used to wipe blood off of Lucius blade to keep it perfect and shiny.

I’ve been waiting for this reveal for months, I was planning on EC being my first ever official 40k army and I am thoroughly satisfied! 20 tormentors/infractors, 12 noise marines, and 1 lord exultant in the box set, and then 10 more tormentors/infractors, 6 flawless blades, and another lord exultant in the combat patrol. Great chunk of an army although 30 regular battle line troops might be pushing it, 40 if I double up on 2 combat patrols (probably unlikely). Just add on Lucius and a lord kakophonist or 2 and that should be 2000 points, probably even over it. I was gonna wait for the inevitable Christmas box to get Fulgrim but everything else in the box would be more duplicates of units already on hand so buying Fulgrim standalone after getting more comfortable building and painting models seems the play. Hopefully my brother in law is still interested in getting started too so we can undertake this journey together. I’m very excited!

I;m not a AOS fan but the Soulblight range is just the most amazing range of models, Every single type of unit is beautiful and the recent Zombie Dragon is already a firm contender for model of the year. I think it's better than Fulgrim.

I'm so incredibly happy they kept the black and pink color scheme (and with green highlights) as that is literally my favorite color combo ever. Any game where I can color my character, I will make make them black and pink (usually a vibrant deep pink).

The black-and-pink scheme for Emperor's Children was only introduced in late-Third Edition, for their Index Astartes article. Prior to that, they were described as painting their armour in random garish colours and bizarre patterns; basically, the more you can get them looking like an early-90s TV Studio set, the better.

I honestly like the simplicity of the skin on the greaves because as they show on the lord exultant you can easily paint it to either be skin or like a nice silk and it’s a simple enough sculpt to realistically look like either one

I really like the new Soulblight Gravelords units. The various wight Barrow Guard and cavalry units are a huge improvement on their predecessors and the Wight Lord/King model provides fine alternative character models for Soulblight Gravelords players who want to go in a different direction from vampire characters. That said, I personally especially like the new vampire models. The cavalry options for Vampire Lords will be a boon to anyone who wants to run a cavalry focused or more generally faster moving Soulblight army. The design of the ax being wielded by the foliclly challenged vampire appeals to me a great deal, but both versions look great. As for Prince Vhordrai and Shordmaire - that is simply an awesome model. Shordmair (also buildable as a riderless Revenant Darconith model that also looks great) is the best Undead dragon model GW has ever done by a wide margin, really selling the decomposing, hulking Undead nightmare feel to the viewer. I also appreciate the way it nods to some classic GW artwork. Vhordrai himself looks incredible, combining regal majesty with a warrior's aura of menace and a sinister, monstrous aspect to his appearance. I am also very amused by the fact that Vhordrai is this very serious warrior and is motivated by a deep hatred for Nagash... and yet also has to have his enormously long 'compensator' lance and his dramatic flappy cloak. He is just that 'extra', as the yoofs might say.

I think what I like the most about the new Emperor’s Children is that the range’s design language seems to be putting Heresy 2.0 stuff through the chaos corruption filter. Like these are very clearly based on the new plastic Mk. VI marines, compared to the default chaos space marines that are more like redesigns of the old chaos space marines kit they replaced back in 2019. Definitely goes a long way towards making them look more unique instead of just painting pink over some black legionaries.

Vordrai gives me hope we'll get a new abhorrent ghoul king on terrorgheist/zombie dragon sometime before the heat death of the universe. Not that I don't like the current model, let's be clear, I just believe it could use a bit of a revamp On a completely unrelated note, I really don't get the Lord of Poxes - seems a bit too scattershot as a model. I like a lot of individual elements of the model (big *chonky* sword, lamprey mouth, not-terminator model, tattered cloak) but on the whole it doesn't really get me compared to the relative simplicity of Lord of Contagion or the madlad design of Virulence. Love me my Death Guard, but that model doesn't really "click" for me

The moment I saw the reveal this morning, I knew you'd be pleased about the Emperor's Children. I'm so excited about the upcoming release that I'm gonna break the rule I made for myself, that being "don't buy any more minis until you've painted what you've already got". And I'm gonna get that box (assuming it's available of course). Also, in terms of painting, I'm gonna do something similar to yourself, although I'm gonna swap the pink for magenta. These minis look super fun to paint.

I think the elongated heads also are a callback to the eldar due to them creating slannesh and looking at their helmets of the eldar. There seems to be a pattern there.

I get what you're saying. The skeleton horses set none leader, look like they are on standby vs the leader or other horses. Beyond excited for the age of sigmar models, definitely will be adding the soulblight additions to my armies. The leaders on horses and the dragons are phenomenal.

If you read the EC books like in the Fabius Bile trilogy this is exactly what you’d picture the legion as. They’ve clearly been completely disorganized for so long that each set of armor is unique based on that specific legionnaire’s tastes, but they clearly think so much higher of themselves than what they are. They really knocked the range out of the park. They are the epitome of demented opulence

I’m torn. I absolutely love that vampire lord on nightmare steed (and the tall hair is A+ for me lol), but that verdigris-armor wight lord… What an amazing paint job by the ‘eavy metal team. Very cool pose, and that ambiguous axe/halberd is terrifying. Do agree on the poses for the nightmares on the knights; I like that low-energy pose as a sinister diorama of knights overlooking a battlefield , but I would also want the option for a thundering lance!

EC: The stripped down armor feels like the Chaos take on Phobos armor. Maybe Space Marine 2 Vanguard missed the mark with which Legion they used for the Vanbguard class. A shame Terminators will probably take till next edition to show up. SBGL: I really hope they don't get rid of the current Wight King on Skeletal Steed model, it's way too good and new for that. It looks like the new one doesn't have a lance option, so I can see the two kits tand side by side. I'm a lot more surprised the walking Wight King seems to stay, since it's in the Spearhead box. I like that the Barrow Knights have less dynamic poses, actually. Especially the Musician, where the horse looks like it's barely hanging on to life from exhaustion. I love Vhodrai , but I'm curious is the model will replace the existing Zombie Dragon kit. It does have the Terrorgheist alternate build, and that's even used in a different army altogether. Come to think of it, the current Black Knights are the same, with the Hexwraiths build. Also, as far as I'm concerned, and I don't think I've seen anything to the contrary, Draconith is specifically the name of the Dragon descendants of Dracothion, and I'm very comfortable calling them Dragons. More comfortable than the current Zombie Dragon actually, since that one lacks a pair of front legs to actually be a dragon at least by the old Warhammer Fantasy definition, so it's more a Zombie Wyvern anyway.
