Nice radio, I really like the radios from around that time.

My grandfather had one of these in the motor home when I was a kid, the beeping buttons drove granny nuts. Marv would let me talk randomly on am on vacation throughout the Midwest,This radio got me into cb and ham. Glad I was gifted the 5010 20 years later.

Came out Septembe 1992 in USA in Canada in 1994 also great radio with Heavy Duty finals plus nice Double Tune Up too and lots people got open for 26.000 to 28.000 mhz plus open R.I.T. too plus bands A to J ! I had similar rig in 2000 was made by Midland called ALAN H.F. 9001 went frequency 25.000 to 30.500 MHZ green background displays lights , FM 15 watts , AM WAS 10 watts , SSB& CW was 25 factory but mine tune up 40 watts , plus could turn beep off switches off in menu , Open R.I.T 10 k's on + or - tuning, had HR 2510 power plug plus cord and had same plugs for 5010 for Ext & PA Speakers and CW Key great radio and powerfull too! One option can get is NB/ ANL switch get small board add for Notch Filter on NB and when Filters off for better filtering on Vechile noise plus Electric noise to hear lot farther on distance stations are S1 or lower singal ! Great radio same price as Empoure TS 5010 if want stock $425.00 and modify one plus heavy duty finals plus Notch Filter was $575.00 Canada dollars! But inside like A President HR 2510 plus same guts but heavy duty and had run a 35 amp power supply constant not any lower amps or be squeaky and squealing but microphone also well built too! Original microphone same as 5010 plus space ship looking like! ONTARIO CANADA SOLD IN 1994 TS 5010 and HF 9001 1998 to 2006 years!

I love this radio bought it in the mid 90s and still have it today and I still have the original box it came in. I really love the receive on this radio it's real quiet compared to other radios i have purchased. Only thing I can't figure out is why my radio has a green backlight instead all the rest I have seen were orange ish yellow backlight.

Nice review, great radio. During last cycle peak I worked 36 countries on 10M SSB with this in the mobile. A couple of relative drawbacks for ham use, though. This rig has no provision for TX offset, like for repeater operation. Even then, if it were possible, there's still no PL encoder. On CW, the RIT is great so as to not chase your contact up (or down) the band during a QSO. But for 10M FM simplex, it's a neat small-ish rig. I've never maxed out the RF power on a QSO. I'm a commercial (and Amateur Extra) and I respect that some parts are either obsolete or prohibitively expensive to replace. Thanks for the review.

I had the Shogun Emperor for 25 yrs, bought brandnew back in 1994 I believe. It was a ok radio nothing that really knocked me off my sandals. It's just the Memories inside your head to all the Contacts and Countries that you worked with it making these radios so special for you. To be honest...technically seen those radios are cheap shit times 7351 for a lot of money actually

Have you seen the ARF 2001 with Freq-counter lately? When they first came out, made in NM a back door of a high-tech communication company that was making a lot of Gov communications. Well anyway, they sent me a demo to try and keep. It was the best-built radio I had ever seen, and TX/RX was the best around. They had a SAM switch that would turn on the best speech processor around at the time. When I turned it on everyone thought I kicked in a 100-watt amp. I saw a used one a few years back asking $2500. WOW. If it was new in the box I'd buy it just to have it.

The ARF are super rare, haven't seen one in years and I couldn't afford one anyway likely :) Here's some photos from someone who shared with us - cbradiomagazine.com/arf-2001-ssb-cb-transceiver/

Your website has the info that the fcc rules have a 155 mile limit for cb comms. This was removed along with a few other rules when cb, frs, gmrs and the dot radios services were all combined

These radios may not be exports. Possible around February or shortly after next year 2022, Uniden corporation is lobbying very heavly for the Authorization of FM use for CB band in the US. The FM portion may be set up in the 26 MHZ portion of of the band. some ware in the old broadcast radio station 26 mhz fm radio station studio to transmitter links portion of the band. APRS use has just been authorized for GMRS band starting January 1st 2022 in the US. Go to FCC.gov for more information.

A friend of mine just picked one of these up, I was playing around with it and found the channel readout went up to 50, not 40. it covers bands 26.000 to 26.490, 27.500 to 27.990, and 30.000 to 30.190. he said it was a 10,11,12 meter radio. Im just curious about the extra 10 channels?
