I enjoyed it. I couldn't help but compare it to Blood Song but it was better. I needed more from the ending but I enjoyed it and would get the sequel.

Great shout guys... I just finished it and I was completely and utterly hooked. I've been wanting a dark fantasy Vampire book ever since I played the Legacy of Kain games as a kid... finally that book has arrived. I feel like this book was written for me.. savoured every page and soaked it up.

I bought Empire of the Vampire because the premise sounded great and I was not disappointed! I loved it and I feel it deserves a re-read at some point. Great video guys ( I wish I had your fashion sense, when I was your age a Philadelphia Eagles jersey and jean shorts were the norm!). I just finished reading Christopher Ruocchio’s “Kingdoms of Death) I highly recommend that series! You’ll be pleased to hear I had my reunion with The Skullsplitter this morning. Glad you pop put in a little refresher in the beginning. Cheers fellas

Yesss, all the love for EotV!! My expectations before going in were extremely high, because Nevernight is one of my favourite series, but somehow Kristoff managed to surprise me in every single way possible and I loved it even more than I had hoped I would. Loved hearing your thoughts!! 🤩

I actually put this one aside about half way through as the constant swearing/banter was starting to annoy me. I have no issue with swearing at all but it seemed to be almost every other line was banter for the sake of it. I think I’ll go back to it and finish it as I was enjoying the story but just needed to chill a bit in places

Very much in agreement with the praise you guys give this book. I listened to it on audible and the narration coupled with the exciting writing was fantastic. Looking forward to possibly hearing your thoughts on some of his other books as, like you mentioned, I have heard some very mixed reviews, especially from those who liked Empire of the Vampire.

It was fun revisiting Empire/Vampire with ya's. I had about as much fun as you did when I read it. In fact I first heard of it when Jay Kristoff did a cameo in your video last year of authors plugging their new upcoming works. Another thing I love about this book, is that I'm also a horror fan, and it totally scratched that itch. It's both dark and cold! (Literally and figuratively)

Great review! EotV was one of my favourite reads of 2021 and I can't wait for the sequel (I'll definitely be rereading book 1 in preparation of book 2). I really enjoyed the Nevernight trilogy (I love the footnotes, they are done well in the audiobook as well, you can really tell when the narrator switches to a footnote). I also love the Illuminae Files which he wrote with Amie. I have Stormdancer on my TBR, but I haven't gotten around to picking it up.

Loved it! This was my first Kristoff, I love Interview with the Vampire and The Name of the Wind so I felt this book was written for me and it was, didn't want to put it down, didnt want it to end... Want the next one stat!

I have the Illumicrate edition of this book & have been terrified to read it because every where I look there’s clear division … hate/love … Abercrombie/Blade? Wasnt much a fan of this authors previous work as it always just came off as sooooo edgy for the sake of edginess. But this book became one of my favorite books ive read in the last 5 years.

I read EOTV earlier this year and I truly loved it! Everything was so well-done and intriguing, the characters and worldbuilding were just chief's kiss. As a french native speaker, I found the use of french names and expressions unsettling at first but I must say Jay Kristoff nailed it! The only downside of this book for me, and It's because I'm a woman, is the characters' age for certain scenes. Some parts of the story could have been set in Gabriel '20s and It would have been more enjoyable in my opinion, but yes, I can't wait for the sequel!

I heard much praise about this, so much, in fact, that I’m tempted to take a break after book 10 of The Wheel of Time and dive into it. I’m beyond curious as to how Krstoff managed to pull of (arguably) the best fantasy novel in 2021 with, we can all agree, a topic which can easily steer off into the “gimmicky” sphere (vampires). I guess the protagonist being 32 in one of the timelines should be the deciding factor ^^

I find it crazy that fantasy fans have read, "The Name of the Wind," and are anticipating, "The First Binding," but many of them have NOT read, "The Empire of the Vampire"!!!

Nope. Not for me. This reminds me of Americanized manga YA adult. Between the Castlevania vibe and manga style artwork, I couldn't get into it. I was compelled by other Booktubers to buy this book. A lot are pushing it. I suspect the perfect audience for this book is young women.

This is the first time I recall not agreeing with you guys. I did not like this book at all. Most of the characters seemed one-dimensional. The world building seemed weak and often conflicted with itself. The dialogue was at times laughable (not in a good way). Having heard great things, I stuck with it to the bitter end. For me this was a hard no.

I only recently discovered your channel and was thoroughly enjoying watching you guys and your content. That was until today... The fact that you're lauding a book (that is average at best) written by a racist, misogynistic, anisemitic, homophobic man beggers belief. Many have claimed that an author and their works can be held apart. I am not one, infact I could not disagree more. Promoting this man's work is condoning his behaviour. Lights out!
