The Empire State Building - located in the heart of New York. The mother of all skyscrapers and symbol of the American dream. With an incredible height of four hundred and forty-three metres to the top it held the title of the tallest building in the world for more than forty years! Constructed with more than seven hundred thirty tons of steel and aluminium and ten million bricks. A unique workplace designed for over twenty thousand people and a true legend. But what happens when this legend meets a modern-day icon?
The Empire State Building faces the Burj Khalifa. The world’s tallest skyscraper and the tallest building on earth. At eight hundred and twenty-eight metres, the building breaks every record - by a huge margin. The iconic building in Dubai literally scrapes the skies. Built using over three hundred and thirty thousand cubic metres of concrete and one hundred and three thousand square metres of glass. The Burj Khalifa is more like a vertical city, than just a skyscraper. A contest of superlatives - Empire State Building versus Burj Khalifa! Two opponents. Three categories. And lots of surprises. Which skyscraper has revolutionised engineering? Which mega building offers the most technical innovation? And which skyscraper will stand for eternity?
In LEGENDS VS MODERN ICONS, the world’s latest engineering achievements, high-tech vehicles and superlative constructions compete against their legendary equivalents that are world famous and milestones in their own field. Can a modern luxury cruise ship outperform the famous Titanic? Is Wembley Stadium superior to the Colosseum? Each episode showcases one battle between a legend and its iconic modern equivalent.

Who ever were involved in the construction of EMPIRE BUILDING, i salute you from the bottom of my heart. Your fearlessness and confidence is commendable❤

I am utterly fascinated by the Empire State Building-an absolute icon. During my recent visit to New York City, the pinnacle of my experience was undoubtedly the Empire State Building. From every street corner, its majestic presence captivated me, and I couldn’t tear my eyes away. I explored four observation decks: The Edge, One World Trade Center, Summit Vanderbilt, and the 86th and 102nd floors of the Empire State Building. Each vantage point offered a unique perspective, but it was when I stood atop the Empire State Building that I truly appreciated its magnificence up close. Another iconic building in NYC is the Chrysler Building, and I can only hope to see its interior someday. Burj Khalifa is modern and shiny, but my heart belongs to Empire State Building

You missed the best observation deck that actually provides the best view of in New York City, and that is 30 Rockefeller Center. It’s outdoor observation decks are completely unobstructed, and the view gives you, vista’s where you feel like a part of the city, because it is surrounded by other skyscrapers, and has the best view of Central Park as well! People underestimate it because it’s not the tallest observation deck, but New Yorkers know it’s the best observation deck of them all.

This is not mentioned enough. I don’t know why shows fail to mention this, also the fact the source of labor, and their treatment. Humans treated like sewage, sewage getting ‘special’ treatment.

Debunked forever ago. Only upon completion when the entire new district was being added to the city did they have to extend the sewer system and services. It's not a present thing nor has been for awhile.

Perhaps if the Burj Khalifa's was hooked up to citywide waste disposal system it would be impressive. The fact is, the Burj literally transports its sewage daily in convoys of lorries, who transport it to a waste processing facility. That's a grossly antiquated and inefficient system. Dubai has little to no infrastructure whatsoever.

@@SO-ud6ro Yes, its size is impressive. However, a modern waste disposal and sewerage system linked to a mains would be more impressive, especially considering it's a 21st century structure and holds such a prestigious image. Instead, it relies on an archaic, grossly outdated, not to mention, not very environmentally friendly system. I do not consider that impressive, more so since the ESB has a modern sewage system.

@bullzdawguk if I'm not mistaken they scrapped that plan after the 08 market collapse. It became too expensive for them.
@bullzdawguk
@bullzdawguk Жыл бұрын
@@SO-ud6ro I'm not certain of the date. No doubt, you're correct. No matter the date, the fact remains, they scrapped the plan, which is preposterous. From what I know, any infrastructure in that part of the world is paid for by the developer, and not the government, which is also an archaic approach to city planning. In fact, Dubai generally has approached city planning similar to Detroit, which relied mostly on cars to get from one place to another. This was due to areas being cut off from one another and very little attention paid to public transport. In recent years, Dubai has tried to introduce more public transportation. But, looking at some of them, I wonder if it's too little, too late. If you ask me, the true test of a modern city is the standard of its infrastructure. Without it, a city is a shell. And, in many ways, that's how I see Dubai. It's all glitzy and pretty on the outside, but on the inside, it's hollow.
