Bentley is a cheap wanna be rolls Royce for posers. If you can’t afford the real deal Royce then you buy a Bentley. But unless you are British aristocracy or a black rapper doing a music video or have a personal driver these are not for car guys, these are for OLD MEN and rich people who like to be chauffeured and sit in the back and for posers who don’t realize it’s a rebadged VOLKSWAGEN.. mostly 70 and 80 year old rich guys drive these land yachts which are rebadged over-priced German garbage lacking any major driving thrill or feeling of excitement. A massive garbage heap of German junk metal slowly gliding down the street like an elderly snail 🐌 If you see a young guy driving a Bentley or a rolls it’s probably LEASED and he is probably a boring poser who knows absolutely nothing about cars.

E65/E66 BMWs are a perfect example of that. see them all over here at used car lots for next to nothing so someone who should be buying an Accord buys a 7 series instead. Then something silly like that alternator bracket gasket lets go and they end up with a $1200 repair they were in no way prepared for. Or if something in the hydraulic suspension lets go etc... I had one come in once with warning lights I had never even seen before, and it took 30-40 seconds to scroll through all the errors when you started the car.

121bham believe it or not, the price is what the price is. It's not often AMG is selling a standalone engine for a 2017 car that's 5 minutes old, so naturally it's going to be disproportionately high in comparison to the price of the car (around $85K, I believe was what the owner got it for).

Put an engine in a 07 gt that had 85k miles, got the engine for 8500 and it had 35k miles on it and my mechanic charged me 1500 to drop it in, so 10k job, idk who the hell would pay 70k for a Bentley engine, the company was better off just buying another Bentley for 40k lol

Bentley, Rolls Royce, Maybach, High end BMW/Audi/Mercedes engines aren't made for performance value, they are made for the most refinement, quietness, smoothness you can get and then whatever performance you can get out of an engine with those qualities is thought about afterwards.

Great video! I have a audi W12 and it’s somewhat the same. Doesn’t make sense to perform maintenance at the dealer because it would cost 1/4-1/2 if the cars value in the course of a year or two in mostly maintenance and simple repairs. It’s unfortunate that some of the very simple things get made so difficult by these companies like changing the fluid in the transmission shouldn’t be difficult yet it requires moving exhaust pipes around , buying $20 a quart oil, removing the pan and software to interact with the car to read the transmission oil temp when it shouldn’t be much more complicated than the engine oil!

When I took my S-Class in for service years ago I was in the back talking to a mechanic working on an SL 600 with the V12 and he told me the engine for that was $50,000 which was my previously most ridiculous cost for an engine car but this one takes the cake so compared to the V12 Mercedes I guess it not that crazy.

I have seen so many people get 2nd chance loans on these cars and get stuck with the choice of making payments or repairs. Most people can't really afford these cars and drive the piss out of the car until they get a repair estimate so high they can't afford it and sell the car.

I had a brand new bentley continental gt come in to get scanned. After the scan, it showed the car had a volkswagen phaeton engine in it. The guy just bought his car from the dealer too.

I did that in my police car in the middle of a natural disaster to save a life, I got a Medal of Valor for it. It was $10000 and that was a Ford Crown Vic....not proud of wrecking the car but I know how deadly water can be for humans and engines.....
