not a big fan of this episode its a clear 3/5 maybe even a 2.5/5 episode cause i hate how rushed and not important holly leaving feels to the show's writers with how clumsy it is...but the other episode this writer wrote aka casual friday's A plot has some of my favorite writing post season 3 of any episode honestly..its really good and fast and aggressive writing......i love how tense it feels and then we realize mike kinda created this divide in the office issue that he could of avoided so hes to blame for all of it in many ways..wish the show was more serious like that more often..its such a well structured conflict that ends the mike scott paper company arc as far as I am concerned cause the episode before was not the true end...it really feels like a season 3 type written episode with how good the A plot was...so props to the writer for that...

After realizing how much effort you put into your videos, I went back to season 1 and have been on a binge. I can relate to Jim's "lazy" costumes on some level. I think it reflects the people who don't have the time or money to buy/get an elaborate costume for Halloween. So they settle for a simple, kinda funny costume they can make at home. I remember one Halloween I forgot to buy a costume at my college so I made a makeshift Bob's Burgers costume out of just my clothes and my work apron. Plus I think Jim helped Halloween procrastinators like me come up with funny, "lazy" costumes that are also cool references to the show.
@TheRepublicOfJohn3 жыл бұрын
I think its moreso Jim's aloof and slightly contrarian streak. He puts a lot of effort into amusing himself (the "classy" tuxedo, dressing like Dwight, etc) but doesn't wanna be a part of the group... it's his way of maintaining distance and detachment from Dunder Mifflin Scranton because he doesn't want to be a paper salesman for life, like he said in his talking head in S1E1. The only problem was falling in love with Pam, and maybe some fear of leaving his big-fish-small-pond situation in which he is comfortable but had stagnated.

The reference is the joke: On KZbin, I once watched a great comparison of the Big Bang Theory and Futurama. And it showed how Futurama did this so much better than Futurama. Big Bang make references to Star Trek, without actually referencing anything in it. The joke is more like "Look at these nerds and their Star Trek".

Jim not wanting to dress up for Halloween is taken way too seriously. Some people don’t want attention drawn to them. Especially being the center of any attention ESPECIALLY attention where everyone involved will be sharing their opinion on what decision you’ve made for yourself. It’s completely relatable to a huge number of people who don’t enjoy dressing up for Halloween. And one of the most annoying arguments to hear about it is people who enjoy Halloween saying “it’s just Halloween, it’s just dress up, it’s for fun” like get fucked. To think someone isn’t normal for not dressing up on Halloween is fuckin insane.

I believe Holly was over exaggerating to Michael about how long it will take him to get to her house. She did not want to formally break up with him because it would be hard for her to do that, so she was trying to imply that the situation wouldn’t work. She knows Michael’s not the brightest and understood she could extend the truth a bit to make it seem like she wanted the relationship to continue but ultimately the position they were both in couldn’t allow it. I think she did love Michael but wanted to take her life in a different direction for a bit (for whatever reason). Perhaps she asked David to transfer, and this was all her doing in the first place. David knew Michael would take it badly so they both made up the story so Michael would feel better about the situation. Just my two cents

I used to binge The Office over and over and over again on Netflix but now its gone. I started watching your channel to fill the void and I have now watched every video you have so far. As for the ep, I too hate the forced drama. Pam and Jim can get together, get married, and have kids but Michael has to stay at sitcom status quo? I don't get it. They don't talk about one of them leaving their job and staying? And yeah, its only a 5 hour drive and there is definitely stuff halfway. And even if the exact halfway exit didn't have anything, just...go to the next one? Not up to usual standards, Office.

This video & series are great! I don't really think it's forsaking Holly's backstory. She could have been from Des Moines originally, then moved and ended up working in New Hampshire. It would still make sense to describe herself as being from Des Moines in that situation. It wouldn't surprise me if they just thought it was 7 hours because of bad mapquest directions or something lol. I feel like back then you didn't always get a super optimal route when you looked up directions online. Especially if there was any construction along the route, sometimes it would give you weird detours or inflate your time estimate. Whether it's a 5 hour or 7 hour drive though, that's still a big distance to maintain a new relationship over. Especially working fulltime, and only having weekends to spend together. That's a 10 hour round trip, and like 12-16 hours of sleep. That's eating up a lot of their weekend

I’ve always felt bad for Holly in this episode. To have to move to completely different cities in just a short time would suck. I also want to mention she’s in HR, not a very niche career, she really could have found another HR job in Scranton, which is a fairly sizable city, if she’d wanted to. Is this forced to pave the way for Toby to return and a way to add to Michael’s character arc or did she really want to leave Scranton? We may never know.
@Faceplay23 жыл бұрын
I was honestly confused on what was the point of bringing Holly in the show. They literally brought her in for like a handful of episodes. And then she disappears out of the show for like three seasons.

On the topic of forced drama, I didn’t like how Holly and Michael never brought up the idea of one of them quitting to stay in Scranton or Nashua, they could’ve brought it back up while in or before the drive, they both would’ve gotten what they wanted but yknow, drama!

And the Andy/Dwight part is hilarious. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

i like holly enough when she is with mike she feels like family in the office i mean the proposal scene is amazing but yeah jan and mike felt more interesting writing wise cause the were so different which is great drama but they ruined jan so...oh well..and not having access to amy ryan hurt clearly...and when she had to leave you can tell the show was struggling cause they planned to have more eps with her...shes in what 7 episodes before this lol..thats nothing..its the 8 episode contract thing where she was not renewed so they rush her leaving... like the show had with ed helms and rashida jones early on before knowing if they would be regulars and thus need to extend their contracts fast cause the were fan faves...i get some people hate her for taking mike away or making jan irrelevant or for having a boring romance with a.j. and weird plotline where she still loves mike the way jim loved pam all along despite being with karen..just to make him feel better? and not seem creepy during the season finale i guess when he is trying to get back with her..smdh...a great line by the way when mike describes his and holly's story and how they will have a long story...still feel a big part why he quit in season 4 partially was cause of the transfer of holly that he blamed david for so he hit him where it hurt ...

It’s a conflict of interest to have the HR rep dating the manager (who had a huge file of complaints, as shown in the Conflict resolution episode). Michael’s last relationship with a coworker resulted in a lawsuit. It’s kind of surprising in the show, since DM usually doesn’t care about much at all. I love how much passion for the show you display in your Supercuts, but man you really need music that matches what's on screen. Massive, swelling orchestras with no rises or falls in intensity just don't flow with the clips. Especially with a show like the Office. It's not an epic blockbuster, nor is anyone on a quest to slay a dragon. It's a personal, character-driven look at the mundane existence of D.M. employees. No shade, I'm sure it's hard to find ideal music without getting demonetized. I just think something understated is the way to go, or at least a tune that rises as it goes. Less is more, the opening theme shows that. But hey you're a good editor
