Facing a workplace concern?
You may think going to human resources is the right thing to do.
But the truth is -- if your employer isn't engaging in unlawful activities you aren't necessarily protected as you think.
Bringing complaints to human resources may get you fired - because not everything is protected.
You need to pick and choose your battles in the workplace.
In this video I walk through a common scenario where you bring a complaint forward only to get fired from your job.
The key distinction here is that not everything you complain about in the workplace is illegal, and if not - your job may be on the line.
BUT...
Don't worry - that's what we are here for.
If you are facing an employment situation and are unsure as to what your next action should be.
Reach out and share what it is with us. We review every case personally, no charge, no obligation - and I'll help answer your questions and let you know what your options are.
It's vital you know what your lawyer can AND can't accomplish for you.
Because we understand how pressing these matters are - if you are in the middle of an employment situation of your own...
Don't hesitate to reach out to our Florida employment law office if you have questions.
If you would like me to review the specifics of your whistleblower claim - reach out via our website today, no cost, no obligation - I'll see you get the help you need.
I personally review every claim - EVERY - SINGLE - ONE.

I was a custodian with a toxic supervisor. I told his supervisor about the way he was acting in November 2020. I took it to HR in December 2020 after it got worse. I got fired in April of 2021 after he made a false claim about me. It happens.

Happened to me however its a private HR outsourcing company with many goverment contract. The same company that does HR for BBC. bradford council. Aztrezenca network rail. Etc. No morals but as they work for the client its ok apparently to cover up fraud for the banks and target employees who raise their fraudunlent activities to senior managers #UKARFRAUD. #Adviserplus the unions dont care as its just a political puppet for them.

Yep, went to HR about supervisor and toxicity. After that the pushing out process started. I stayed as long as I could, instead of quitting I held out for hope. But ended up getting terminated. Yes, HR is not your friend. Co workers are not your friends... hard lessons I had to learn. Especially since corporations are going WOKE, that makes the target larger on your back. Management favor the supervisors over the employees. Lesson learned. Took years to figure this out. But job burn out was an issue for me as well. But yes, HR is not your friend.. I hope kids get with this perspective. It took decades before I learned it.

I notified HR, the union and management where I worked of multiple threats of violence against me for doing my job in good faith and not joining into the corruption. I gave them a multiple page statement dealing with all of those shenanigans. They did nothing after saying they’d do something. I resigned two months later after having a knife waved in my face at work. I’m the only person who lost their job. Dollars to donuts they falsified all sorts of documentation for management and HR to not be fired. Including my ROE. Which I never received. This sort of thing had been going on for decades. For all I know....it still does.... Typical government employees. Criminals at heart. Especially in management. SD44 North Vancouver

I was let go from a state job for going to human resources for sexual harassment coming from my chief and major. I was told I resigned from a nursing home. This is after I was taken off the schedule for review for reporting patient neglect and abuse. I went to EEOC with all my documents. The business had way more going on then what I saw. They closed and a new business moved in. The DON along with other employees were let go. I was asked to come back. I rejected and established a business. To those in tje healthcare field. People are not bed numbers and room numbers. You will be old one day or hurt so bad you need someone. Remember that. Times get stressful. If you need a break take a break. If it was not illegal, then of course you'd lose your job. And even if it was, if it was nothing to do with you, then let him dig his own grave. No one likes a snitch, and snitches are the ones who don't get promoted, but often are the first ones terminated. I understand how cut throat the work place is at times, but I've learned, if it has nothing to do with you, don't start a fire. And even if you've had beef with the guy in the passed, leave the passed in the passed and let it go. Don't report him for something he's doing that has nothing to do with you. If he was legitimately harassing, and bullying you, then by all means, go to HR and report him, but if he's not bothering you, leave him alone and let him dig his own grave.

Around 2017ish I had a HUGE beef with my manager and went to H.R. for clarification and answers.....About 3 weeks later I was "randomly" drug tested by HR. I passed and around 2 weeks later was called into my manager's office along with the Vice President to NOT do what I did and got a little slap on the wrist. lol! Fast foward to 2019, I was still with the company, The V.P. was let go, the HR Director retired, and the Manager jumped ship to another company.

At my last job I was the Director of Rehabilitation and paid hourly. I was required to bring my laptop home from work and keep it on my person, essentially. For 26 LONG months I worked 7 days/week 365 days/year. This company refused to pay overtime to rehab directors. My estimate is that I worked at least 20-30 hours per week off the clock. All along the way I documented in emails to the 5 bosses that I had that I was “struggling” my work load and repeatedly requested help with “time management” due to the fact that I was working so many hours off the clock each week. I saved my entire documentation trail. Unfortunately it came to the point that I fell asleep 3 times while driving home from work. It was then that I decided I was done with this job. I emailed my boss and the DVP regarding all of the extra hours I was working and requested to step down from my position in order to be a staff physical therapist. My bosses refused and the DVP requested my resignation and a conference call was set up with the President of HR first thing Monday morning. My job was posted on Indeed the day after I requested to step down. Over the weekend I composed an email outline all of the documentation that I retained regarding this violation of the FLSA. I wasn’t fired on Monday morning as I thought I would be. A couple of weeks later I filed a class action lawsuit against this employer. A month later I resigned. My life is so much better now and the lawsuit is ongoing. It took a lot of planning on my part, but in the end things have worked out well. It was amazing how the President and VP of HR along with the DVP and my boss all read from their script of lies. Corporate gaslighting at it’s best. My advice is to wait to strike until you’re fully prepared to leave the company. HR IS DEFINITELY NOT YOUR FRIEND!!! 😂

I was wondering how could I go threw osha to try and sue or is it even possible for me to sue? A number of the women on staff at the Target store I work in Las Vegas always act affectionate/flirtatious towards me as I am a happy go lucky person so I guess they could make up false claims of sexual harassment since I complained to Human Resources about being stalked or bullied on the job two days ago nov 6 2021. I never thought of possible corruption like this but thanks to your video this is an eye opener! The question becomes who can you trust in these organizations if HR doesn't really have your best interest at heart as an employee. Lesson learned here just never complain about anything. Suffer in silence until you can find another job I guess.

Worked at Texas Roadhouse collecting an income he didn’t earn for years. Now this same consumer was given 6 hours of the DSPs 40. He sat in a booth for 3hrs two days a week drawing, building Lego and watching the Nanny and writing DSP notes. DSP reported to all Qualified Professionals (QP), Administrator, Operations Vice President, EastPoint, their ethic hotline ( 3months of calls )BBB, Attorney General and still no response from anyone since June 23, 2022 all aforementioned verbally, written, texted, recorded phone calls.

Not all HR personnel but perhaps most. At a management firm. A HR Director (female) learned and investigated a possible sexual harassment /quid pro quo of one of the managers from the stores. This male store manager already had two prior PIPs for underperformance such as not showing up for work and not delegating tasks, etc. This store manager is a long-time employee and still is. Upon conclusion of the investigation where evidence indicated he did violate company policies with a female subordinate then terminating her job immediately afterwards when she ultimately denied his advances. The HR Director suggested termination for this store manager. The CEO (male) of the management firm disagreed and blocked the store manager's termination so that he could transfer him to a different store in lieu of termination. The HR Director pushed for his termination proposing further corrective action was necessary instead the CEO terminated the HR Director just two days after the CEO transferred the store manager to a different store holding the same position supervising staff. The HR Director in her 3.5 years of employ had no write-ups, positive performance reviews, and received regular pay increases including bonuses most recently a 15% bonus and pay increase just a few weeks before her termination. She was not given her final paycheck on her last day, nor a termination letter just the CEO said in person "Today is your last day for being unprofessional". She received a direct deposit of her final paycheck 2 days after her termination with only 1 week severance instead of the 3 months (1 month for every year worked) previously agreed in an exit plan if she were to ever exit the company. She sent two emails requesting for her actual 3 months severance pay and in her final attempt email threatened to report the company to DOL was when she received her 3 months severance. She filed a lawsuit. It is now pending. The HR Director is a single mom and it has turned her life upside down to say the least. Her termination letter was mailed to her home a few days later stating a flurry of fabricated reasons the company has yet to substantiate. 15 months later the company is still on the attack victim-blaming, smear campaigns and harmful spread of information. Her career is destroyed just for doing the right thing and her job. She hasn't been able to find work due to sudden job loss with no reference letter from the company. She lost her home and her son went to live with his dad. Lastly, the CEO is related to the store manager. Hubris is toxic. Hold companies accountable for their wrongdoings. Silence is complicity. Trial is in 6 weeks. This is MY story.

I recently retired and took a stay busy job at a shady company. Walking in, I was warned if you speak your mind at this company, they will run you off. Not giving two fucks I had to test this theory…after 4 months, I collected a list of some serious concerns such as forced violations of safety protocols, mismanagement of funds. So, on the day I decided to approach HR, I told the people in my work group there’s only going to be one outcome of this if they were right…the meeting took place at 09:00, I was terminated at 10:30 lmao.

One manager would on company time have sex at this one man's apartment all the time, this same woman informed me for some unknown reason she disliked white men. Every manager I met seemed to have some sort of mental issue. One manager was married 5 times and always had problems with maintenance men. One manager told me she was mentally ill and had the drugs to prove it. This is a small list but you dare not go to HR.
