According to the video, the point of receiving knowledge about emptiness is to apply it practically in daily life. By meditating on phenomena as manifestations of emptiness, we can begin to understand their subtle conventional nature. This can help us stop distractions in our meditations. We can also bring this practice into our daily activities. For example, when we are sitting and listening to a teaching, we can begin to see all of the things we are seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, and thinking about as just manifestations of emptiness. This can help us to relax and let go of grasping. The speaker also says that although we ordinary beings cannot meditate on emptiness while we are eating, walking, talking, and so forth, we can nevertheless see the objects around us as manifestations of emptiness. We can still remember and use our mindfulness to think that everything is a manifestation of emptiness. If we do this, our food, our body, our friends, and so forth will still appear to us as inherently existent, but we will not accept this appearance. This is just like the illusion of grasping at inherent existence. In conclusion, the speaker says that one of the best ways to understand emptiness is to try to apply it in our daily lives. Even if we have a small understanding of emptiness, we can carry this with us throughout the day and keep going back to it. The more we apply it, the more our understanding of emptiness will increase.

The other commenter here is misunderstanding the difference between inherent (or conventional) versus ultimate truth, emptiness. And obviously has not studied Venerable Geshela's commentary. And yet feels the need to write an unqualified comment. I wish them peace, happiness and a purification of Karma that will allow them to realize Shunyata, emptiness.

Kelsang Gyatsho borrowed many snippets and articles from the writings of the several Buddhist masters of the past and compiled them into books. People read them and say, " oh he is so learned, he is so wise" Fact is that there are hundreds of Geshes in the world but Kelsang Gyatsho wasnot one of them. It is like using Dr. as your title when you have not undergone any PhD course, when no institute conferred you that certificate.

I think what you'll find Geshe Kelsang Gyatso did was represent the teachings for the modern world. What you'll also find is that he was a fully qualified Geshe, and close disciple of Ven. Trijang Rinpoche. I'm not sure where you are getting your information from but these are the facts.

@@oiuhwoechwe i get my information from his classmates, who grew up with him, who sat knee to knee infront of Trijang Rinpoche, Ling Rinpoche and Dalai Lama, receving teachings. Do you know that Ling Rimpoche is the SENIOR tutor.

In the foreword to Geshe Kelsang's book: 'Clear Light of Bliss', Ling Rinpoche describes Geshe Kelsang as : "This most precious Spiritual Guide". In the foreword to Geshe Kelsang's book: 'Meaningful To Behold', Trijang Rinpoche describes Geshe Kelsang as: "The excellent expounder, the great Spiritual Master, who studied myriad Buddhist scriptures at the famous Je College of the great monastic university of Sera, practised the meaning of the teachings he received and became a wise, serious and realised Teacher." The Dalai Lama's foreword for the 1984 edition of Geshe Kelsang's book: 'Buddhism in the Tibetan Tradition' names him as 'Geshe Kelsang Gyatso'. Thank you.@@gyurmethlodroe1774
