Gen-la Dekyong - great as always, thank you so much. I do not get tired to listen the same arguments about emptiness again and again - thanks!

Thank you so much for such a brilliant explanation about emptiness. Still feeling the good vibe and blessings while you taught during the festival.

Thank you so much! Sharing these video clips with the world is a "good thing..." As I'm sharing them on my Facebook therefore bringing Dharma into more and more hearts :) So thank you for that opportunity and thank you for letting me listen to Gen-la Dekyong, these are now part of my daily practice.

Top Tip: While on this Dekyong page, open another KZbin window and type 'Relaxation Music for Stress Relief and Healing' by Mohajatok Shahid Al Bokhari, for a rather lovely background vibe. Ta.

There is so much about Buddhism that rings so true to me but I have real problems with reincarnation. Also having been raised in a strict catholic tradition, a tradition I no longer follow, I have no interest in any sort of deity.

Think of, say, an elephant. Now, is that elephant-thought made of something physical - such as subtle electricity? Really examine it. If so, then your mind is your brain and when this life ends, of course we end without continuation. If, however, that thought-elephant is formless, not made of anything, however subtle, then its source - the mind - must also be non-physical because that which is form cannot give rise to that which is formless. Good Luck!

Frankem51; It isn't that things outside you don't exist, but that absolutely everything (the 'things-we-normally-see' ) including our 'self' or 'I' appears to exist without depending upon the mind. Understanding that everything depends upon the mind improves our ethical behaviour because we are no longer driven by a belief in an actual 'me, me, me' whose wellbeing is paramount. With this wisdom we have direct empathy with all others. Something like that. Ta.

so this teaching is about how delusions can bring us pain and suffering?
@swadeshine10 жыл бұрын
Indeed.
@solarneddy11 жыл бұрын
Confusion over the nature of reality is like storm clouds in what would otherwise be a clear blue sky. The storm clouds are symbolic of delusions and the clear blue sky symbolic of the true nature (or Buddha nature) of our mind.

The orb is likely the reflection of a canmara lense -a roving photographer...but you can believe it is something supernatural if that makes you happy and increases your faith.

Thanks. Awareness is powerful. Powerful still if it could be shared with others. Everything is the construct of every other things. Some known yet there are many others unknown to us. Set goals wisely and expect the unexpected because everything is depending on every other things. At this point of my life, with this awareness...the one who understands this mystery and answers to what is, what to, and how to, when to...is like someone who knows how to survive the stormy sea. Otherwise, be drown in it. But who will know who possesses this skill or knowledge? We all are also in the same storm.

I don't find it ethically helpful to think of things outside of me not existing but it's certainly true that our emotions are contingent like a balloon in the wind and that we need to meditate on this.

what if I do have cancer? how can I change that pattern?
@expansivevision60008 жыл бұрын
+Sergio Rodriguez I agree with Terefe feyssa. But i think it is important to realize that the cancer and the body are both appearances to the mind, both cancer and body are empty of inherent existence.
@nonayobiznez53118 жыл бұрын
+Sergio Rodriguez That's where the analogy breaks down. Yes, we may actually have cancer. But Believing that we truly exist is always wrong. The teaching isn't really about cancer, it's about believing something that isn't true vs believing something that is true.
@Skyelement84K7 жыл бұрын
Your body has cancer, you don't. You can work towards life changes and spiritual changes to purify past karma and prepare only good karma for future life and you may surprise yourself with a miracle or at least some relief, and if death comes make sure you pass in a pure and ready frame of MIND, because that is what you take with you from this precious life.

I don't get it...sorry.. but I do get that we need to check our mind on what we believe. but the cancer part ? does it mean if someone was diagnosed with cancer and doesn't believe i to be true. does this mean the Cancer will not grow ?
@moletown858510 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that the 'cancer' part is to show how we suffer due to believing something to exist, which does not. We feel that our I/self, our 'me' and its world, universe, people, places, cultures, countries, histories, situations and problems etcetera, actually exist by themselves, 'out there', not dependent upon our mind in any way whatsoever. This is our ordinary view, exemplified by when the man in the story is believing unquestioningly the first diagnosis of cancer. Ta.
@moletown858510 жыл бұрын
Mole Town (Me again!) the cancer part isn't literal, but analogous. Ta.
@moletown858510 жыл бұрын
Mole Town (Me, again!) Looking again at your question; if we have the realization of the 'emptiness' or non-'actual'-existence of phenomena, then a situation in our lives such as even a correct cancer diagnosis from our doctor would not trigger us to develop an unpeaceful, unhappy mind. Ta.

Purifying Our Mind! Gena la Dekyong . this video/speech was a very nice. I do get what she mentions that in life what we see and think about our surroundings is a mirror by what we perceive in our minds.what I took out of this is that we can attract darkness or light by how we think mentally. I must watch more videos on Tantra. Thanks btw :)
