Hey all, this is all based around a completely stock bike - I have also tried it with a lot of changes (Fox 38 170, Coil, different bars, stem, wheels and tyres!! Which is like changing almost everything on the bike! But, those changes do make it massively different and much, much more capable (but its far far from the stock bike that is being sold, so didnt want to include those changes in this video). If theres enough interest in that I will make another video going through those changes and how to really improve the bike over stock form! The biggest thing to change is the stock stem (its a bit too lightweight and flexy, and probably the bars, then the fork (170mm works great, Zeb of 38).

Let’s talk about ‘reality’ of UK e-bike ownership…Riding e-bikes since 2018 riding xc/dh all through the year in the UK (tens of thousands of miles in total). Nobody talks about the 3R’s of uk bike ownership. RELIABILITY, REPAIRABILITY and RESTRICTION. I’m sure this bike is powerful and silent but UK mountain biking in the UK all year round is brutal on bikes. I go through several headsets, frame bearings, drivetrains, brakes and suspension services every year which I do myself but still can’t service/repair a motor. A couple of of UK independents have set up business servicing motors but they wont touch certain motors and brands and struggle for parts. It’s all advertising on how much torque the motor produces yada yada but worthless out of 2 year warranty. I want to know how waterproof it is, how reliable it is, how easily repairable it is (by myself or set up service centres ), how easy is to get the information to do this and how easy to get parts . I won’t buy a bike without the 3 R’s. A motor that is proven RELIABLE and can be REPAIRED and can be RESTRICTION removed (for private land use of course!). The industry is all wrong for e-bike ownership in the UK but nobody wants to talk about it other than torque about it!

What people are not understanding about this bike is that DJI and their engineers understand PHYSICS. They have been fine tuning their motor drive and software systems for their drones and gyro cameras for over a decade now. Some major brands only took ebikes seriously 5 years ago (cough: Santa Cruz). That's why so many new brands have been allowed to crop up. That and direct to consumer models. Brands from China, brands from the US that source from China, etc you get the point. Each has had their own edge in one facet or another. So to think DJI, a massive company with giant r&d departments encompassing software, hardware, advertising, R&D and so on (they're helping the Chinese military after all) can't produce a competent world class elite bike? They were basically born to do this lol. That's why it's exciting. If there's any confusion as to why they came out with a trail bike first for the masses to capture attention first... I let you contemplate that for a bit

Any new entry to the market is a great step forward…… however reliability and repairability are the key issues for most users. It’s unforgivable that motors do not include leak detection and have certification for weather sealing which have the credibility of VW’s emissions compliance team…. The closed protocols and tendency to brick themselves are anti consumer and reminiscent of John Deere’s anti consumer repair stance.

The display features are nice. However the need for that much power is questionable....I believe can even be a show stopper so to say. What do I mean with that, the more powerful the bikes become the sooner bikes will become too fast and intrusive for other outdoor and nature people resulting into riding restrictions. Moreover Rob does not cover the wear this much power creates on the drivetrain. Nice review and great video shots! I think a powerful motor for trail riding makes a lot of sense when it can really help with climbing over steep sections, rocks and technical features. But going downhill and enduro riding, the 120Nm motor doesn't add to the speed much so I agree totally with Amflow's strategy with their trail bike setup. And kudos on doing a smashing job at that! There's no one bike that fits all riding style. Had Amflow made a more enduro leaning bike, then there'll be complains about the bike being too heavy and not nimble enough on the trails.

The hype will fade unless our best life as mountain bikers is now lived at an average speed slow enough to not be frustrated by quickly and constantly hitting the speed limiter. The bigger question is what reward does 120nm have over a 85nm bike with a better chassis for optimal downhill performance? I would consider this bike/motor for riding tight/slow single track where acceleration out of corners is the primary point of enjoyment, but that's about it. I think most riders under the age of about 55-60 years will quickly come full circle on this realization after the honeymoon phase of feeling 120nm wanes a bit. Keep the technology focus on bigger/lighter battery technology (and gearboxes) and we'll all be more satisfied in the end.

Who really wants this bike. I mean what's the point if you just Nerf it ar 15-20mph. If these companies are going to offer more then 90nm of torque and over 500 watts. They need to offer an unrestricted mode and perhaps make us sign a liability waiver to access it.

The clue is in the “M” of EMTB. The power is great for steep inclines (yes I have one) and do you seriously need extra assistance for downhill? If you mean to pedal assisted on the road at over 15mph then this isn’t the right bike to buy
@lukasvrana63882 сағат бұрын
@@HiruS22 Imagine that you need to hit some jumps at certain speed - at my local spot some jumps are not ridable during winter because of soft surfase and that you need 30-35 km/h. Support cuts off at 25 km/h and you case everywhere or you cant hit the jump. I dont care about the difference when I am going up, but at jumps it´s not confortable and safe....

I want to thank you for your channel. Because of you I just built up a Dengfu E82 eBike with Bafang M510 motor with 130nm of torque. I also used a Bunch of Hope products like Pro 5 hubs Tech 4 V4 brakes with the V4 twin finned and vented rotors and SRAM AXS drivertrain and Garbaruk cassette. It is an amazing bike with Rockshox ZEB Select with Diaz Suspension Designs RUNT cartridge and Vivid Ultimate rear shock. Thank you Rob.

We have seen plenty of DJI videos on KZbin. You are probably paid massively by DJI and thats why you also did one. But when can we see something more unique, like the LCE930 follow up video?

4:50 sounds so cringe, rip chain. Why would anyone pay 10k for this junk when for 11k you get the Nicolai, belt, fox38 etc etc.

Hmm I’m looking at this new bike and again see no bike standards being introduced here - we need to be able to swap motors on our current e-bikes (like we can do brakes/gears etc). Just another company wanting to line its own pockets with your hard ernt cash.

This bike will quickly become irrelevant with its flexy frame after the recent emergence of other bike manufacturer's options with the DJI Avinox system.. Watch out for Unno and Forbidden 😉

I have a Giant Reign e+ , a bike that feels big on descents, climbs pretty well and has an incredible suspension design. Imagine a bike like this with this motor, redesigned, and dropped 2-3 kg of weight. This would be a killer machine for the next 5-10 years.

Same here, for offseason and rides around my house.... My normal bike is DH rig, so I am tending to beafier ebikes. I will upgrade it m8 for belt drive, integrated transmission and new engine... but that is the sound of future tech :)

Sounds like the typical way chinese companies try to make illegal stuff legal. Put a 250W sticker on the motor and claim it’s legal. You don’t get 1000W peak out of 250W motor. It’s simply nonsense. This thing can’t be legal anywhere in the EU+UK.

i believe short stravel emtb are fking worthless. an emtb should have 170/180 mm, period
@davidpickard939314 сағат бұрын
Why is it speed limited as 1000w is illegal for UK road use anyway.
@HiruS222 сағат бұрын
The motor is “nominal” 250W (whatever that means) and the bike is definitely legal in the UK

Destroying the surface of the woods. That amount of torque will rip the floor and tree roots apart. Exactly like heavy cars and lorrys ruining the road.

A bicycle is a rolling object that relies on rider input and rider skill. It keeps my cardio level in Z3 for the most time and I can ride it 10+ miles w/o pedal assist anytime, anywhere. That's a random viewer's opinion, I know. But I believe the Amflow is closer to a machine, a motor cycle than a bicycle. And it is made for fast and convenient transport, rather than to challenge the rider's fitness in any way. Did I say that I have 15K miles on my Fuel Exe😁

Get a road bike then! Mountain bikes are for fun and exploration, not fitness explicit
@Daffy020818 сағат бұрын
I would say that you are right ... if that's how you use it. The emtb can (including the Amflow) can be a fantastic tool for fitness if used properly. It's not compulsory to stick it in Turbo and leave it there all the time. 🤷🏻♀️

@@Daffy0208 I never use turbo, i just stick it in auto and go flat out. Always end up with a good work out and have a load of fun
@gordoncahill117014 сағат бұрын
The reality is you just ride further. Moving from a Levo to the Amflow we’ve just added another 2-3 runs per session. We ride the same time but go further and we’re just a farked at the end of each ride. We do save energy on the fire road climbs and use it more on the down.
@HiruS222 сағат бұрын
@@Daffy0208Exactly! I start off with it in lower settings, even off on levels, then bring it up to higher levels as I get more tired. It means I’m happy to go further knowing I can still get back across the trail even when my legs have turned to jelly
